  • Some CRB action on a recent job. Love seeing the difference the CRB makes to a carpet.

    Fun machine but it's quite a luxury. It can pull hair out of deep carpet, but it's not necessary for agitation. I was a carpet cleaner for 25 yrs and I never owned one. There's so many gizmos in the cleaning world 😂 And that CRB is about two thousand bucks!! I mean damn if I'm a carpet cleaner with 2 grand to blow, I can think of better things to spend it on to improve cleaning. Even if I had one given to me I'd be hard pressed to find time to use it. For a normal truck mount steam cleaner: I suppose you would run it after prespraying. So the steps would be 1. Prevac 2. Prespray 3. CRB 4. Extract. I've tried several forms of machine agitation on carpet and got no improvement over using a hand rake. The presprays are powerful and barely need agitation as it is. It's time consuming enough to just rake! 1. Prevac 2. Spray/Rake 3. Extract. I guess if you got a helper for the day. But when I had a helper, I was right on his tail when he was just using a rake, so how could he find time to CRB?Tile floors same thing. I've tried machines to agitate grout. Nothing but slinging soap everywhere and the damn thing needs weight on the head to scrub or it just walks across the tile without scrubbing the grout or divots. An 18 inch push broom with black and green bristles works best for tile. Easy, fast, reliable. KISS

      You have a point as it does add time, but I've also dug out large clumps of pet hair and deep sand/soil because of a CRB. You have to build it into your pricing. I'd rather have that than rake for agitation any day. Yes, it's a little heavy, but it does make a difference. It has to fit your business model, of course, and some areas are different, so you may not need it as much as we do. I've also literally had tile jobs not clean up well until I ran the CRB over the grout joints, which is way faster than hand scrubbing.

      @@blackdiamondcleaningservices test it yourself. Next time you're on a fairly dirty room, spray/CRB one side and spray/rake one side after your prevac. After you extract see what u think. When I say rake I mean it shouldn't take more than 15-20 seconds to rake a whole 10x10 ft bedroom. When I rake it's mostly the forward stroke doing any work and you're mostly only putting effort over the traffic areas. I can see how the CRB can help you with tile & grout if you're using an alkaline cleaner similar to carpet cleaning. I always use acid side cleaner for ceramic tile and I never really get natural stone jobs, but I use mild alkaline on them. Ceramic tile grout cleans tremendously well with a halfway diluted grout restorer acid like viper renew. When using that stuff you just need a brush to spread it into grout lines and it starts foaming and working out the dirt on its own if diluted properly to match the soil amount. Still, though, I have definitely encountered tile/grout that required me to put some serious elbow grease into brushing it. That 18 inch black/green bristles push brush completely digs out the filth when you scrub side to side on grout lines axially. The inner bristles are stiff for the grout, outer bristles softer. I tried the little orbital oreck machine to scrub grout and my helper tried it too. No contest the push broom was faster and scrubbed better. My Dad told me later on that years prior he had tried the same exact thing and discovered the same thing we did. But we never tried a CRB. Probably would be nice for tile. And yes pulling out deep hair from carpet is a nice feature but a thorough prevac is 95% as good. If the damn tool was reasonably priced I'd likely use one. But I can't justify 2 grand plus upkeep for it unless I had different clients and/or offered different services and the thing had a chance to pay for itself.

      You make good points, and yes, they are expensive, but in our experience. They have paid for themselves and do not have to work as hard with a rake. Which we still use after carpet protector, but again, it has to work for your business model. Appreciate the comments. I used to use grout brushes, and once I got a CRB my life was changed.

    ?? When you use the CRB, do you normally run it across the carpet in one direction and then the other direction to pick up more of the pet hair/dander?

    • @blackdiamondcleaningservices
      @blackdiamondcleaningservices  Před rokem

      It's counter Rotating. So two brushing moving opposite directions. The only time I'll consider that is if I know it's pretty bad or yes, they never vacuum, and there might be a ton of pet dander.

    • @blackdiamondcleaningservices

      You'll have to open up the side of it with an Allen wrench. It sounds like one or more of the gears became stripped. If you use it daily. Once a month or so it will need to have the gears greased.
