  • A “Pain Free You” game plan
    1. When I do these steps, feel them and know that they are true.
    2. Remember, I don’t have to try to ignore the symptoms.
    3. Remind myself, that it’s only perceived danger symptoms.
    4. Relax my body and breathe.
    5. I don’t have to figure out why I’m having symptoms, just know that my brain perceived danger, either consciously or subconsciously.
    6. Don’t give away my power! I have the power to choose how I respond to symptoms.
    7. Give my brain calm reassurance. I’m safe. I’m okay. I don’t have to go to the worst case scenario. (Even if the symptoms get very intense, it’s still only perceived danger symptoms.)
    8. I don’t have to believe my negative thoughts.
    9. Observe my emotions, my emotions are safe, I can handle them.
    10. After I’ve shown my brain that I’m not concerned, I can shift my attention away to something else.
    When I do these things, my brain hears, they’re not freaking out, they’re stating facts that are true, they’re body’s relaxed, they’re breathing comfortably, they’re checking in with their emotions, knowing they’re safe. They’re not taking their scary thoughts seriously, they’re redirecting their attention away from symptoms, and they’re calm.
    This means they’re safe, the symptoms can go away.

    There are systems out there such as EFT which believe you have to get to the root cause of your emotional trauma In order to heal.
    So your program believes you can heal without having to figure out exactly What is triggering it?
    Sorting through the millions of events in one's life seems pretty daunting.

    • @LL-pk2uu
      @LL-pk2uu Před měsícem +2

      I have an EFT coach I work with once a week for complex trauma. In her personal and coaching experience, it’s not necessary to find and/or dig to get to the root, so to speak. In my experience, the root doesn’t even matter (I know many of is have been told, “You need to get to the root, or you’ll never really heal.). It’s what’s going on in the now. Just like what Dan talks about-perceived danger. Dan and EFT have helped me❤

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před měsícem +1

      My very simplistic approach to trauma is this. We don't need to revisit it and somehow "process it". I believe we can overcome trauma by consistent messages that we are no longer in that danger environment. The traumas are in the past. We are okay NOW.

      Thank you Dan. One of Doctor Sarno's earlier books did mention about Trying to isolate the exact issues Did his philosophy change on this as well?

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před měsícem +1

      @@danmonaco7607 I am not sure what sarno's thoughts were on this when he passed in 2017. However, his philosopy has caused a few decades of people journaling about past trauma to find THE ONE offending experience and emotion. I find this is not necessary in my coaching practice. Safety NOW far outweighs digging through the skeletons of our past. I have people getting well without doing any deep emotional work. Perceived danger is the issue. Safety is the solution. Dan, thank you so much for the daily videos! I have a question, we always talk about "acute injury" vs "onset of symptoms aka tms" but I wonder, what about "overuse injuries" like tendinopathies. Ex someone that gets shoulder tendonitis after doing the same movement over and over. Doesn't the tendon actually wear out? I know we're not doctors but this seems like a grey area to me

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  Před měsícem +5

      The answer always lays in the assessments. Regardless for what is thought to be the cause, the assessments will tell how the pain is behaving. Like a body problem or perceived danger / TMS. That will give you your answer.

    • @936Maria
      @936Maria Před měsícem +1

      What if it’s both? Both a body/physical problem and TMS? I have both and “they” are constantly feeding each other….

      @@936Maria What if the things you think are physical are normal abnormalities and not actually causing the symptoms. What did you score on the pain test and the FIT assessment? IsThisTMS.com You can evaluate symptoms individually to get clarity.

    Hi Dan, your videos are so helpful ! Question: I’ve had back pain for a couple of years which moves around, gets better and worse thru the day, and goes away completely when I teach (I teach music to preschoolers part time) or play with my grandson. So almost 100% sold that it’s TMS. But. I’m 67 - had a mostly normal x ray slight scoliosis and slight kyphosis - nothing to cause this pain - but it seems like everyone I know in their 60s has all these aches and pains so I’m like maybe it’s just wear and tear? That’s a boggling doubt of mine.

    • @NEChristo
      @NEChristo Před měsícem +5

      Everybody in their 60’s has symptoms because they expect to. I’m 54 and feel that way, I’m slowly changing my mindset. Think about people in the past, even biblical times. Did their hips wear out? Their knees? They walked everywhere. They did not have the option of replacements. How did they live so long? Just some things to ponder. God bless you. ❤

    I believe I have PDP, but I started with pelvic pain and now for months the pain spreads all over my body especially at night. I take gabapentin at night the pain and the body pains are worse in the morning. I don’t know if these are side effects of the gabapentin or PDP. I’m just confused and don’t know what to do. Any suggestions ? Thanks 🥰
