  • Just a quick install video of the 14” Factory 47 bars on a 2020 Road Glide Special.
    Aside from two wire extensions, you will use all of your stock hardware such as brake lines and clutch cable.
    With a little patience, this is a rather easy install that could save you $$$$ in labor!
    (Note* - at the end of the video I mention freeing up the brake line and throttle cable. That should have been the brake line and CLUTCH cable! Both run to the same connection on the frame, which you can release them from, giving you the slack needed to mount back to the new height of bars.)

    One thing everyone doesn’t mention is when you pull on your cables for more slack. There is a plastic clamp on the front of the frame below the triple clamp. It will break! I put the 14” factory 47’s on my 2109 road glide ultra.(LOVE’EM) If you hear a click turning lock to lock (left/right) just a place to look. Zip tie it thru the frame and all good. No need for wire extensions save the loot .RSMF

    600-700 dollars is a great deal. It ridiculous dealers are skilled but they want 9-10hrs of labor to install these. I get it, its not easy. But jesus for a guy that has done them 50+ times they can do the install in 3-4hrs. Thats why them call stealerships. Thanks for your help making the video.

    Love that you mentioned the areas to lengthen the brake and clutch cables. 99% of all road glide videos , skip right over that part.

    When you changed your bars did you change your bushings too? I'm going to do my bar swap and HD told me I needed to swap my bushings. Bike is brand new though and has less than 500 miles

    • @zaccrymes3256
      @zaccrymes3256  Před 3 lety +3

      Yes, factory bushings are pretty flimsy... so I’d definitely swap them out while you have everything apart. The install on them are easy and they are relatively cheap, so you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the opportunity.

    I appreciate your video but can you please next time turn your phone sideways landscape mode. We can see a lot better , just saying no disrespect... I have a 22 Road Glide special , I just installed factory 47 bars omg it is really a pain and the hand and the fingers I've used cable pulling lube which I highly recommend it helps it's still hard especially when installing kahuna heated grips which I did that made the left side harder than right. If anybody gets frustrated trust me leave it alone take a break come back later and try again and it will work...

  • @kurtweiss7068
    @kurtweiss7068 Před 3 lety +1

    Question. I’m having a HELL of a time getting the right side wires and throttle cable in. There isn’t a lot of space. Did you run those through together or separate? The left side wires I got through with zero problems.

    • @zaccrymes3256
      @zaccrymes3256  Před 3 lety +1

      I fought it myself but ended up pulling everything through together. I ended up having to align everything where there was as little mass as possible being pulled through, then I just taped everything up solid so that it was uniform.
      Best of luck... it can be frustrating.

      @@kurtweiss7068 I did remove whatever sleeping may have been binding up, but nothing more than that. It’s been awhile but it seems like I may have also de-pinned a couple plugs just to get it through and then re-pinned everything.

    • @kurtweiss7068
      @kurtweiss7068 Před 3 lety

      @@zaccrymes3256 yup. Sounds right. I’m feeling like the plugs is what’s holding it up. Without them, I think going through will be much easier. Btw, great tip wrapping the outside of bars to protect them. Wish I would have seen your vid prior but I did scratch them too bad. Thanks again my friend. Very helpful.

    So Harley of Fresno told me I had to buy longer brake and clutch cables with the 14 inch factory 47 set up ,, ?

    • @zaccrymes3256
      @zaccrymes3256  Před 3 lety +2

      If we’re talking about the same bike, then no you shouldn’t have to. 14” is the highest you can go with the Factory 47s and still use stock clutch/brake cables.
      You will have to cut some zip ties and remove the lines from a mount in order to free up enough slack to use them though!
      You will need the two extensions for your wiring, but everything else works perfectly! 🤙🏼

    • @emeraldcitycarpenter
      @emeraldcitycarpenter Před 3 lety +2

      I put 14” bars on my ‘17 Road Glide as well. You do NOT need to extend any cables. Just cut the zip ties off like Zac mentioned.

      @@zaccrymes3256 Hey Zac great video. A few questions; do you have the part numbers for the two wire extensions that need to be used? Now that you've had time to ride with these 14" Factory 47's, how do you like and find the handling of the bike?

      Harley told me the same thing for my 19 SGS and said they won’t do the install with stock wires bc it’s not safe. After quoting me $1500 just for the install. Needless to say I won’t be going back to that stealership.
