Thanks folks 😊 - Zábava
I have to say you’re one of the few guitarists that really inspire me to play. It’s incredible. I feel like I’ve learnt so much from you. For that, Thank you very much Paul.
Well thank you majd.z 👍
Your playing is like a fine wine getting better with age. I really appreciate your videos. Love you all Bill.
I like your words William, made me smile 👍
Agree too. The clean belly tone of a tele is unbeatable and addictive. And it can do anything from jazz to metal (with a little help :p). Its the one for me too
Teles are my favorite electric models. I have a 72 Fender Strat, it was my first guitar, but I really love my Tele-style Squier Classic Vibe.
So nice
Very nice tone my friend.👍⚘⚘🙏
Thanks vintagetone 🍻
Good Stuff Paul! Have a great weekend brother! 😎👍
My favorite tele, love to watch you play this one. Perfect mods too.
Wonderful way to start my Saturday morning! Spectacular playing as always, Paul!
Thank you Kqhoa! Cheers
You have such a great technic Paul! It's an honour to have spotted you on this YOU TUBE channel. Keep up the good work and deciphering new ideas to play this beautiful instrument! All the best mate!😉👍
What a lovely comment Gordon! Cheers mate
Great stuff! The Tele truly rewards the hard work it requires....
May God bless you with many many years of inspired playing, Paul! Sending you and the family my very best wishes from Brazil!!
Hi Ricardo. I love your comment. Thank you man, I appreciate your good wishes.
Sounds awesome!
Thanks man 🍻
I always new that was the best sounding guitar you had.....Mmmm a little Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence in there...now thats a great piece of music..thanks..
My favourite from your collection. Quite like the LP goldtop too!. Love a tele. So versatile and impossible to pull a bad tone from. Stellar playing as always paul
Thanks Steve 👍
I have always loved that guitar🤘😊
Lovely inventive stuff Paul . I'm with you on that clean tone , it does it for me .
Thanks Cannavan
Lovely
Thank you! 🍻
Tele's do rock, nothing is better than a simple chunk of wood with strings. 🤙
Always some good stuff i always try and think i learn one little thing from your videos thanks Mr Paul !
I’m delighted to hear that. Cheers bigtuna 👍
Great stuff Paul, your Tele is a lovely instrument.
Thanks Grant 👍
What a fantastic video have a good weekend Paul also i have to say I also am a fan of the Fender Telecaster to be honest ❤😊
Thanks aminahmed 👍
These videos are so incredibly informative, and they’re much appreciated
Well thanks kmjansen, I appreciate that.
Brilliant! I feel the same way about my beat up Tele……they are hard to beat. Cheers!
Your Tele has always been my favorite guitar to hear/watch you play. You have a gift of bringing out the very best of that particular guitar.
Thank you Ritchie 👍
Just love that tone you get.. Nice and rich.. Got myself a thinline telecaster USA recently. Big step up in class for me.. Its just a pleasure to play. Always take something from your playing.. Thanks fella 👍
Thanks Michael, I wish you many happy hours on your Thinline 🍻
@@paulstaffordcook8799 cheers Paul 👌
I always enjoy, learn, and am inspired by your playing. The way you play and teach is incredible. So much in one video. keep it up man.
Well thank you Jeff, I appreciate that. Cheers and Happy New Year 🍻
I love your collection Paul, but that Tele is hands down my favorite!
Its all very beautiful my friend . Wished i could do some lessons with you 🎉
Love your playing Paul.
Cheers from Mtl Canada
Thanks Norm, and greetings to you from a very rainy Edinburgh 👋
Dude, every time I hear you play... You are a star!
Well thank you bambule, I appreciate that.
I love the way you glide through your mood emotions and moments using the strings so easily. Beautiful.
Thanks Robert. Delighted to see you’re still watching my wee videos. Cheers 🍻
I'm soo glad I stumbled across this channel. Love the playing and that tele sounds great!!
Thanks Craig, delighted you like my wee CZcams show. And of course my Tele thanks you too 🍻
Beautiful. Love the cheeky little above the nut string bend!
Thanks Pete. Yes, got that idea from Jerry Donahue 😊. Thanks for noticing👍
Excellent Paul. Love the unexpected shifts in modes. A little world tour. On the topic of favourite guitar. Every time I walk into my music room and ponder which one or ones I could part with, I feel like a parent pondering which child to part with.
I’m laughing reading your comment - that’s EXACTLY how I feel! 🤣
You and that tele are soulmates. Gorgeous playing….gorgeous tone 💯%
Thank you bwhit716 👍
Just ordered a Stormy Monday for the neck of my Tele! Your playing has inspired me alot so thank you for that and keep killin it!
Excellent! Well I’m delighted my wee videos might have had an influence in your decision. Cheers Jena 👍
Wonderful Paul. I’m seeing a lot of tele videos recently, as if they are suddenly being rediscovered. It took me years to give one a try, as I found them ugly. Now it is the guitar I turn to the most.
Thanks Bazilbrushrocks 👍
Oh my...you sound like an angel!
Well thank you Billpolitis 👍
Just sublime playing Paul, that would be my choice of tele all day long 👏
Thanks bigleemac 👍
You are unique and brilliant.....Scottish scone blues with an incredible approach. Pl😊ease keep up with 😊showing us your gift
What a lovely comment man, I appreciate that. Cheers 🍻
You the the bomb paul. So you know that's a lot bigger than a firecracker always beautiful merry x maz to ya
Thank you Rick! Cheers mate
Hi Paul I love my tele to. Am just heading to Livingston with the tele for a “very Buble Christmas “gig. Thank you as always for your great videos hope you have a great weekend
Thanks Frank. I hope you’re having a fun gig in Livingston 🍻
A perfect way to start a Sunday morning at sea on a warship somewhere in the western pacific with a coffee and PSC on his glorious Telecaster.
Wow, it blows my mind that my wee video is being played in such a location! Well I wish you safe travels man 👍🍻
I have a couple versions of the good ol' tele and I saw one on-line for $150 (Squire/Affinity). I picked it up out of curiosity. Surprising build quality and the pup's are good enough to get some pleasing tones. Tele's were conceived out of simplicity and always come through. I totally agree when I hear people say "Leo got it right on the first try". My favorite and we were born in the same year - coincidence? :)
Because of you, I asked my local guitar specialist in Sussex to fit a Seymour Duncan humbucker in the neck position on my Tele. It makes a great guitar even better with so many tonal variations. Your videos are fabulous !
Wow, thank you Michael, I’m delighted you like my vids! And I’m chuffed that I had a hand in your choice to mod your Tele.
Wow, thank you Michael, I’m delighted you like my vids! And I’m chuffed I had a hand in your choice to mod your Tele.
What a great tone! I haven’t got a Fender Strat….but I have got a G&L ASAT which produces similar sounds. My other guitar is a Gibson LP Custom. I love them both. Couldn’t decide between the two…such different but wonderful characteristics. Never mind. I’ve pinched a few more licks from you….keep ‘em coming 👍🍷
Cheers Emlyn 👍
that is an amazing piece....so relaxing to listen to. chord sequences and notes are just perfectly aligned to make you want to just listen. your style in this tune is amazing. the tele, which I have an almost identical tele but the 51 reissue with hum bucker, I have to agree is amazing. I have a few guitars and I spend most of my time on this tele. just something about it. and it lives in the clean tone zone....just wants to be there. tone is amazing. anyway. very well done...I will keep watching for more of this! thanks
Thank you drjonado, and it looks like we share a love of Tele’s 🍻👍
I only owned one tele prior to the one I currently have but.....the custom shop 51 with the hum bucker is just perfect. so motivating to play....
@@paulstaffordcook8799
oh that intro!
Thanks Juan, cheers
I have mentioned it already a few times in the comments, but the tele is my fav from your guitar collection. And that is not because I am tele-and-nothing-else-guy. 90% I play 70ties Fender strats. And of course remarkable good playing, always. Thanks.
Thanks Mijstrats 👍
Lovely piece, Paul. Sort of Satie/Tobias Hoffman.
Great piece Paul. Fluent as ever.
Thanks man 👍
Just picked up a Fender Aerodyne Tele and slammed a Ron Ellis Killa in the neck. Perfect! Love the playing as always.
Congrats on the new Tele! And I hear Ron Ellis is the man!
With your help, the Tele was bringing forth some beautiful almost acoustic tones...
I believe with both pickups.
(Very nice)
Thanks Jonny! Yeah, I see what you mean by almost sounding acoustic 😊
Thank you
Glad to see you agree with Chris Buck ( Friday Fretworks ) . The tele is indeed the blank canvas for people with the 'fingers' . Great playing as always. If you are still looking for inspiration and that something else ( I recently suggested a baritone ), here's something else for you. I came across apiece on the history of seven string guitars and it showed a piece from George Van Eps - Seven String Guitar 1967 ( youtube ) . Might be right up your street ! Enjoy,
You sold my favorite guitar of yours but I do like your tele....I've recently purchased one and had it for about a year. I'm warming up to it but I'll always be a 335 guy...that's the greatest guitar in the world to me.
Hi Greg. Yes, one day I may own a 335 again. But my tastes are awfully expensive in that I’m drawn to these dam Murphy Lab heavy aged ones…. cherry red with yellowed binding…. Yes please 🙏 . But at those crazy prices I don’t think I’ll be owning one any time soon 😂
I think that beautiful Gretsch your Dad gave you fills in well for a 335...that's a gorgeous guitar!@@paulstaffordcook8799
I love your playing. I’d love to hear you interpret Sting’s Wild Wild Sea. Don’t know if you know it, but it has changes I think you’d be drawn to.
Thanks Lyle, always great to see you’ve stopped by. I’ve just streamed that track, as I hadn’t previously been aware of it. Yeah, Sting is a class act. I’m gonna give this a few listens 👍
Briiliant as usual! Did you ultimately update your pots to 500k? I'm going to mod my pickups to match your guitar. Thank you for all the vids. You're an inspiration to ALOT of people! Cheers friend!
Well thank you man, I really appreciate those words. As regards the pots on the Tele…. Yes, the tone pot is 500k and the volume remains 250k. Cheers 🍻
Thank you Paul. I greatly appreciate the reply! I love your vids.@@paulstaffordcook8799
Hey Paul. Inspired by your Tele setup (Humbucker in neck).. love the sound - I just received my stormy Monday from Bare Knuckle and i installed it in my tele this morning. It does not disappoint! Lovely tones. I previously had a Seth lover PAF (Seymour Duncan) installed in the neck. The difference is night and day… I love the stormy Monday. BTW, my pots started at 500k for both vol and tone but I was finding the quarter pounder way too bright, even with a 470k resistor attached. Just couldn’t find the balance. My solution was a bit different - I put the 250k tone pot back in (which is great for the bridge single coil) and I completely disconnected the neck pickup from the tone pot. With the Humbucker neck this is actually great. I guess it just shows there are a few ways to approach the situation…
I like what you’re saying. Yeah, I guess it’s about finding what suits the individual guitar and the player. Cheers for watching 👍
Great playing..your feel and control is amazing....ive got a fender Baja..picked up 2nd had for about £400 complete with a tweed hard case..considering it quality a pretty good deal and as well made as my USA fender strat...im not a fan of relicing but i have to say yours look fantastic...in fact id say the only thing that lets down the Baja is its poly finish..its not that thick but it will never wear gracefully....im sure if it was nitro it would be a lot more expensive...and the finish doesn't affect the sound in my opinion...my 1998 fender strat deluxe also is poly and for a 25 year old guitar thats rarely in its case....still...apart from a few chips n dents looks new...whereas my 2016...Gibson les Paul junior is already starting to relic its self...maybe i was wrong about relicing as yours just looks so inspiring to play......its looks like its screaming to be picked up...
Thanks Paul. I like your last words - where you refer to my guitar as screaming to be picked up. That’s why I love the worn look. Cheers Paul
I feel I agree :) So does Chris Buck who just made a video on the same topic. Great minds ey? ;)
Ive tried the Tele over and over again but I cannot bond with the sound. They're really comfortable. My no. 1 is a LP that looks almost identical to your burst but with less wear. Yesterday I traded a Fender JV Modified Tele towards an ES-335 because they're on sale here. Ive become a Gibson fanboy. That and offsets. Phenomenal playing as usual. I always take something away from your vids. Sometimes its not even music.
Well thank you Tony, your comment makes me smile. I’m chuffed you like my wee videos. Cheers my friend 👍
Yes.teles r cool.my most played also.like an old chick that never got old.
Happy holidays masta p.!
Long time viewer. First comment I believe. You are a breath of fresh air on CZcams. Excellent musician with excellent tone. Never change this format my friend. Thanks
Adam 🇮🇪
Thank you Adam! Your comment leaves my smiling, especially about you liking the format. Cheers Adam 👍
Your guitar's intonation is so good. Quiet hard to achieve on a fender ... How did you do ? Do you have some tips to share ?
Thanks for noticing! Basically I just adjust the saddles in the same way that you would. But yes…. it can take a while to get the right compromise.
can't help but to hear a lot of Zither type of harmony in your playing. Your use of thirds goes directly to Alps... like theme from Orson Wells movie The third man..
Thanks Andre, your words have me smiling! 👍
Beautiful playing! What are the pickups?
Thank you TomTom! It’s a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound in the bridge and a Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday in the neck.
Isn't it great to escape from this crazy world into a spectelecaster noodle soup of soundwaves?
“A spectelecaster noodle soup of soundwaves”…. I like that 🤣🍻
Hi Paul, Awesome playing as usual ! i've same rig and just wondering what tubes and speaker u have in Cornell ? thanks
Thanks Skordys 👍. It’s just the stock 12” Jensen. As regards the tubes, it’s just the stock 6L6 and the ECC81 (12AX7). I’ve never taken the back off to see what brand though….
Thanks a lot for your reply ! it’s well voiced amp and I totally agree it sounds awesome on stock tubes/speakers not like many other big brands etc. Dennis Cornell is a huge genius and truly gentleman always happy to help. I’m glad I’ve found your channel while ago you are a great inspiration 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Was that actually a quote from Sakamoto/Sylvian, "Forbidden Colors"?
Pardon my ignorance, but do you have any recorded albums you play on? I love your playing and would love to explore your discography.
Hi matta and sorry for late reply. Unfortunately no, I don’t have anything recorded. The nearest you can get to hearing those noodles track by track is to scroll through my Instagram page. There’s no talking, it’s just track after track. I love that you enquired though, that makes me smile 👍
And If you saw him walking down the street, you'd have no idea 😁
The singer/manager/equipment owner of the first band told me after the audition that I was hired but since we would be playing a mix of old rock and some country rock I would have to get a Strat because a Tele was NOT a rock guitar. Proved him really really wrong
sometimes i get it right away with some of the stuff, you must be getting through to me......eventually 😆although still end up getting lost. First belt of snow today eh ? did you have any learners out in it ? we'd a good 4 " up here, jingle feckin bell's. did he find much wrong with the Cornell ? cheers for posting pal
Hi Charlie. Yes, I managed to keep us out of the worst snowy bits….. there’s nothing worse than your pupil braking too hard on the way to a give way line at the bottom of a snowy hill 😂😩. As regards the Cornell - Stevie discovered a microphonic preamp valve. So we’re all good again 👍
@@paulstaffordcook8799 love how these guys find some wee thing that you'd never find yourself in a month of Sundays
What kind of pickup do you have in the bridge to match up with the Bare Knuckles in the neck?
Hi Paul. It’s a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound. I absolutely love it 👌
The only time I make my guitar sound like a pedal is when I play my 12 string without tuning it first....instant chorus pedal
Hi, do you have compensated saddles on your telecaster? If not, how good is the intonation? Have you set it up yourself or by a luthier? Cheers Paul, hope you don't mind the question.
Hi 4amsolo. Actually, your question is actually one of the focuses of my brand new video 😊. So I hope you can give it a watch. But to answer you here - no, my Tele is very authentic to the way it would have been in 1952…. so I have uncompensated saddles. It’s from the Fender Custom shop, so it was pretty great straight out the case. Or maybe I’m just lucky. But I go into a bit more detail on my latest vid. Cheers for your question 👍
i hear the simpsons intro then like a solemn wedding theme.. but it's like a disney movie
What kind of humbucker did you put in the neck?
Hi Paul, sorry for late reply. It’s a Bare Knuckle Stormy Monday, which is one of their low wind PAF style pickups.
I enjoy your style of playing, but way too advanced for me, I recon I will never play with your beautiful technique. Thanks for the video.
Thank you Jeff, as always, I’m delighted you enjoy my wee videos 🍻
If Debussy played guitar he would have played it like this haha.
🤣, thanks Paul 🤘
Telecasters = always pretty…
Thanks Hanmer - and holiday greetings to you 🤘
Paul, you have just made my day....again. It was a dreich, chilly day here in Stirling until you visited my screen. I really do appreciate your postings and always enjoy your beautiful, creative compositions. Your approach is so different to so many guitar players and a breath of fresh air. Stay warm. Peace.
I second those thoughts as well mate. All the way from the States, the crazy one,to be specific. Lol. It's damp, drizzly and overcast here. But hearing this latest expression by Paul. Just brought the Sunsine out. Thank you Paul. I hope both of you have a fantastic weekend. 😊
Thank you so much Will. That makes me smile 👍
Great lesson, fantastic playing, Paul. I agree, something special and awesome about a good Tele
Thanks man. And I see the sneaky picture of your Tele in your profile picture 😊🤘
