I just have to say how beautiful that engine bay is. I can tell you put a lot of effort into it and it paid off! Great stuff!
word
My guy, I appreciate your content. I was looking at the iDoing vids today. Much love brother!
Your car sounds soooooo good bro thanks for the awesome video! Love all the mods you have done to your Sti man good job!
Bruh, you seriously have one of the nicest engine bays I've ever seen on a Subaru. 👌
Thank you!
@@Scoobyfreak86 I know this is going to sound pointless, but I'm curious... When you take the car out and you're just kind of driving normal, what do you average for fuel economy? I have a wrx, but I want an STI so bad. But with how high fuel prices are, I'm not sure if it's the best decision at this moment. But I want one all the more considering that they discontinued the STI.
I usually get around 18-20
Use to drive for cvs out of Lumberton when I made deliveries I remember seeing your sti your the real reason I have one keep the content going 💪💪
Sounds, and looks amazing!!Great content !!as always be safe out there, and God Bless 👍🏻👍🏻🏁🇺🇸
I have a GFB Deceptor Pro II TMS on my 2019 WRX STI Limited and never had any issues with having my BOV installed. With the deceptor pro, I can adjust from 0 to 100 either to vent or recirculation. I only have it set to 90% recirculating. One of the best BOV's to buy. Other than that, nice ride. Already upgraded the Killer B oil pickup and baffle. Need the oil pan and will look into those 6 other upgrades.
Great content as always. I’ve been binge watching your videos while I continue my search for the STI. It’s a great help for me since all I’ve know is VW/Audi for the past 7 years.
Glad to have helped! If you have any questions in your search, don’t hesitate to ask!
Your style of modifying is on par with how I would love to do my ‘19 STI. I want to model my build after yours. A gentleman’s STI if you will. Haha. I am glad you are holding on to it. Keep the content coming. I am excited to see what you do next.
I’m actually getting ready to pick up a 2018 STi and I don’t really feel like making more power so I’m glad there’s actually quite a few things I can do to improve the reliability without needing a tune
You’ll want more power eventually
why?@@carsonsegura9844
After owning my new Sti for a short time I understand now why you baby it in a way. Thanks for the inspiration and sorry for the misunderstanding 😎
I purchased a 20 sti and I've been looking for mods I can do without that tune. This was an amazing informative video! I saved and will use this on my baby. Thank you!
Same ❤️🔥
Nice video as always and explained in detail 👌 👍
One of the cleanest-modded STIs on CZcams for sure!
Best video I seen. Other videos are too much talk. This gets straight to the point
Thay car looks so fun to drive. You make me want to mod my ‘21 STi. Love the vids, by the way! So glad you’re keeping the STi
You are correct! It’s a blast to drive.
First mod on my new STI will be the AOS system, second will be the upgraded bypass valve, third will be the upgraded radiator… and so on from there. Big time thanks for these very important upgrades for longevity.
Thanks for all this helpful information, I feel like a newbie to the subi clan. I use to drive a 2021 scatpack. I wanted something more fun to drive.
Lol You & that mini van were in sync with backing up.
Absolutely love this video ❤❤❤I’ll be buying 202sti used I know not a great thing to get used STi but it is one owner 20k miles and cpo certified so kinda safe but you got great pointers to keep engine healthy that’s gonna be my route keep it simple appreciate it!
This is exactly what I was looking for!!
Great Video man - awesome content ! Quick question, your engine bay, and the blue-rainbow nuts/ bolts/ clips/ details ....where did you find these???! I'm down-under in Oz land, with a red manual MY18 - so nice! And am hoping to decal the engine bay blue. Sometimes there's too many options online, and I would very much appreciate being pointed in the right direction!
Titanium works
This car is goals 😍
I'm not super firmilar with these cars but found a good deal in my opinion for a 2017 wrx. Anyhow are they still 100k water pump timing belt etc or did these newer ones get better? Iv had some older subs but not that new.
Once again dropping great knowledge for us! Unrelated question, Do you run tmps sensors in your aftermarket wheels? also, what lug nuts would you recommend when going aftermarket? Thanks in advance!
No tpms in aftermarket wheels (hence the light). I prefer running the metal valve stems than the rubber OEM ones. Although, I believe there are some metal stems that work with OEM tpms now. I’ll have to look into those.
Lugs: czcams.com/video/CxMnvcf8Td8/video.html
@@Scoobyfreak86 no issues with the awd system or other systems in the car due to no tpms? Seen some people say it causes issues but wasn’t sure. Thanks again!
I don’t run tpms in mine either and no issues other than the annoying light!
Nope, none. Drives like a dream!
Awesome and good to know hopefully get and wrx or STI next month
Nice video .your Subie looks amazing bro. I got my Subie second hand and am trying to put regulars back on. Cus its kinda giving me problems idk.
I just got a 2017 Subaru wrx that’s been modded quite a bit, but it’s had a lot of tasteful mods done where it runs killer but still reliable for a daily. I’m running the same wheels, and mine has coil overs on it lowered about an inch. A big upgrade I’d advise if you’re building power is upgraded half shafts, I feel a lot better about mine knowing I’m not going to disintegrate half shafts.
The Boomba BPV is great, too. Low profile, fully machines, built in gasket.
I agree have it on my sixteen wrx adds a nice flutter
@@nateklideis that with the stock intake?
what do you do for a living to build the sti like that? my goal right now is to get a 2018+ and do some light mods any advice? thanks
In any setup you add more air to your Subaru get the supporting mode to go with it
Add intake tmic down pipe etc then you add a bigger fuel pump and a pressure regulator and increase fuel pressure on your motor
Pov drives are awesome
All great advice 👍🏽.
Grimmspeed claims you don’t need a tune for there front mount Inter cooler. I’m dyno tuned at 400hp and installed the grimmspeed fmic afterwards. So far haven’t noticed a change in the car except that the turbo spoil takes slightly longer. SLIGHTLY.
Mainly with all fmic, there is a bit of turbo lag due to the piping distance
Just got my first subaru 2018 wrx limited and im to old to go crazy on power i just want long lasting fun car and this video sent me down a rabbit hole lol but i cant thank you enough for the info im trying to learn more...i already know that this isnt the most favorite engine but im not building speed just a fun daily this car came stock thank god but awsome video gotta a sub. Gotta watch some of your other videos now.
If you do the BPV mod keep in mind if you got it for the “swosh 💨” noise, you’ll only hear it really well paired up with an intake, and you’ll need to retune for an intake mod.
Oem bpv works fine, I get my swosh..noise
Would I be able to just use the Cobb Stage 1 tune?
@@andycruz5314 yes, Cobb OTS stage 1 with a cold air intake and BPV will but an okay base line. If you end up working with a tuner down the road; they can adjust your tune specifically for your car mods and atmosphere you live in 🤙🏽
hi i'm about to buy a wrx 2004 i wounder if I should upgrade the ej20 engine have 170,000km (engine need some work not too much), or should i swap the wrx?
Nice video. I own a 2015 STI that is stock except for a Mishimoto air intake. Do you have links to the mods detailed in the video? Also, I have been looking for 18" wheels with the same dimensions as stock for my car. I don't want to use spacers. Any recommendations? What size are you using on your car?
Any product I install in my videos have links in the description for the item.
In regards to wheels, lots of options out there. I would narrow it down to a style and go from there.
czcams.com/video/u7tglnKXvl0/video.html
thank you for the info bro
Worth a sub 🎉
You forgot two, the turbo inlet instead of our brittle POS stock ones. At least in my GD chassis they were and the coil packs the OTL ones are much better.
Sounds amazing
This engine sounds so amazing.
Nice video! It’s time to get that IAG motor to build now on the side lol
How much of these mods have you mentioned to your insurance or do you pay extra premium because of the mods
Where did you get that blue Grimmspeed TMIC hose? Looks so awesome and it fits so well in the engine bay with the other titanium components
I am running the Grimmspeed tmic hose kit in black.
Is it really worth getting a tmic and charge pipe with no other mods?
Hey my friend. I have a quick question about the intercooler cuz i have the same one. Did you cut the coupler of the bottom inlet that leads to the turbo to make it fit better and if so how much did you cut? 1inch? 2inch? Thanks!!!
czcams.com/video/VH9xuliRFp0/video.html
Would I be able you throw on the stage 1 tune from Cobb with all of these mods or would they counter each other?
Hey bro love your videos , do you think lowering springs are okay I’ve heard mixed reviews
Not on stock struts. I would recommend upgrading them before doing just springs.
Or would you recommend just coil overs ?
Yes. I would recommend spending a bit more on a coilover setup.
Man seriously just drove by a cop at 4k rpm. Big respect
Bro the shift knob is killer!
I have a raceseng knob too just not the Stratose. Managed to get a good deal on their Nitro knob.
@Scoobyfreak86 after you installed the koyo radiator, did you notice a good difference in coolant temps on your accessport?
I am planning on installing a CSF radiator soon, and I dont have an accessport yet to monitor the differences.
Yes! A solid 10 degree drop after the koyo rad install. Very consistent too.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Thanks for the info man, looking forward for the next upload!
For a bypass valve would I need a tune for the FA20? Also looking into getting an intake that doesn’t require one. I don’t want to get tuned yet as I’m still under warranty, but I do want more turbo noises
BPV does not. Intake does.
Have you heard of whitelines ALK(Anti-Lift-Kit) not sure if they make one for the VA chassis but if you so, do you have one installed?
I don’t think one is available for my gen, so no I do not have one installed.
Off topic. What do you recommend exhaust? which is better AWE track or touring edition.? I watched your video already between the track and touring can’t decide. I got 21 STI. Thanks
Lot's to consider. However, based of my experience, I preferred the tone of the track. Much more bass and more aggressive. The touring sounded good, but a bit too high pitch with my setup for my liking.
What is your wheels, tires, suspension, and alignment specs? Fitment looks nice!
czcams.com/video/1oldUVVV5zg/video.html
The Exhaust was first thing come to mind, i have a Subaru Forester 2005 thats Turbo Air Intake etc tuned and a lil Fender kit on it, I'm looking for an Exhaust that will sound good like Catback but people are saying it's Garbage, any other suggestions?
Beautiful car man
Your engine bay look sick man
FlatIrons Tuning says small changes to the I/C do requires a tune. But what exactly means “small changes”? Or by small changes they meant a FMIC? Does that include top mounted aftermarket I/Cs?
Question about your tomei, does it have any leaks? I've been plagued with leaks at both joint connections for the catback that I just can't ever seem to remove. I've applied copper gasket maker inside the connections, so now the leaks are super minimal (albeit tiny tiny bit there). I have a 2021 sti btw. I also get the spring rattle in the front, but I fixed it by simply shifting the clamp so that the bolt isn't next to the spring.
No issues with mine. I removed my springs entirely to rid the rattle.
@@Scoobyfreak86 I see, guess I'm unlucky seeing as you have no leak even without the spring haha. Thanks for the fast response man!
This video needs to be pinned at the top of every VA forum
Very nice engine setup ! Where did you bought all carbon elements ?
A few different companies. Cobb, OLM, password jdm, etc.
You mentioned a bypass valve.. does this include the HKS BOV if you run it with the recirculating option instead of the vent to atmosphere?
The hks does have a fully recirculating kit that you can run with it. However, personally, I’d prefer to run a product that was designed to function only 1 way. Less chance of issues.
Hi Bro! Nice engine bay! Could you tell me which battery cover do you use? I tried to find one but nothing worked. Thank you
czcams.com/video/FLp69dgMydU/video.html
Man your car is dope
Sounds so good. What radar you using? I’m looking to get one here soon but need recommendations
czcams.com/video/Lm_Uw4GEzhw/video.html
@@Scoobyfreak86 thank you
I hace a bomba by pass valve do i need a tune I have mine in the bottom not top of my engine on my wrx 2020
Your car sound amazing holy shit!
Question for you. I just purchased a 2023 wrx limited. I’m looking to put a awe track cat back exhaust on it. Have u heard of the check engine lights coming on after? Any information the group would like to share on this. I’m new to this.
Catback won’t trigger any lights.
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks.
Haha KA is alwaysssss a cop I have noticed in mine. Gotta be a good boy haha
What are those detectors are for? *Just curious*
What exhaust r u running & does it need any tune?
My favorite is definitely the bpv😎
Phshhhh,
What if you add a charge pipe to top mount inter-cooler? Do you need to add a tune?
you need a tune for the top mount intercooler if you want to take advantage of the increased capacity
Yes, that goes for anything. A tune will help most of these modifications use their full potential. However, these 7 modifications are items you can install without a tune needed for the car to run properly and smoothly.
I think he means mods that can go without a tune WITHOUT hurting the engine. A tmic won't get gains without a tune but it also won't blow up the engine if you run it without a tune.
sounds incredible, hooooweee
Honorable mention is the ETS Intake as it is one of the few intakes ive seen that dont require a new tune on top of that adding a bpv allows for a really nice sound from your turbo
I don’t care what anyone says - if you are changing the airflow in anyway, and an intake will do that, you should get a tune. Probably wouldn’t recommend an aftermarket tmic without a tune either.
Intake change requires tune.
@@final3119 I agree fully.
Nice car man very clean. Who makes that head unit that you have ?
Idoing. There is a link to it in the description under "car stuff"
Oh damn you have everything listed. Cool. How’s it work any problems? I put something similar in my friends Cadillac. Was a nice system and good price but some stuff wasn’t designed well on it. Blue tooth problems and whatnot. This was 3 or 4 years ago though.
It has been trouble free. Couldn’t recommend it enough 👍🏻
Question I have a 2021 wrx do you recommend to do the 4 cylinder cooling mod to the fa20 as well?
I’m not familiar with the fa motor, so I can’t comment. Although, I don’t believe the fa had the same cyl 4 issue like the ej does.
@@Scoobyfreak86 ok thanks bro.
Do you already have video for the engine bay parts? Was wondering you can find those carbon fiber covers you have for the battery and others.
Yes all those videos are on the channel
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks!
What’s your view on the Grimmspeed V2 BPV? Also, I’m in Freehold, NJ any good tuners out this way? I hear the Cobb OTS is horrible for the car. I have a brand new (9k miles) 21 STI
I never tried the Grimmspeed bpv, so I can’t comment. All my tuning was done with RT.
Can you put links to the engine bay carbon fiber please
What wheels are you running on your wrx?
czcams.com/video/1oldUVVV5zg/video.htmlsi=uJaV4okeNpStvFax
If I wanna run an ets intake, ets fmic would I need any more supporting mods? Or just a protune
Depends on how far you want to go. But an intake and a front mount would warrant a proper pro/dyno tune.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Would you suggest any supporting mods or can i just run those 3? I just really like how the fmic is but dont want to go full blown build
@yumee19 on the ej, it’s all or nothing for me.
the race AOS needs a tune because it vents through a pcv valve to atmosphere
I'm confused. You mentioned that with a FMIC, it would need a tune due to changes in flow and piping. But then for an upgraded TMIC, it doesn't need a tune but you get more flow than the stock TMIC. How would getting an upgraded TMIC not need a tune if it has more flow design and volume compared to the stock TMIC? And if I did get an upgraded TMIC, would I also need an uprgraded Bypass Valve with the upgraded TMIC?
Front mount piping is completely changed compared to top mount. Tmic is in the same location with the same piping. It just holds more air. It doesn’t change the flow of the system.
You can run stock bpv on any setup. There is no need to really upgrade it over stock unless you are pushing way more power. And even so, the stock bpv has been known to hold over 400hp just fine.
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks a bunch!
@@Scoobyfreak86 what about the vert tmic. I know its stil a top mount, just not sure if the position it lays chages that
I don’t have experience with that setup so I am not sure. Although, should be the same since it’s in the same position.
I just recently purchased a Perrin tmic, I looked at the Grimm speed tmic but for more $. From your knowledge is there a difference between them.
Never experienced the Perrin so i am not sure of the differences.
Where did you purchase all the titanium engine dress up? Looks sleek!
All the titanium hardware is from titanium works.
surprised you said upgraded intercooler dont require a tune, if you chaing the air temp that means densor air.. I did all those mods minuse blow off valve and oil pan. GOing to revsiit those 2 and an E85 flex fuel mod. in near future. I dont like the loud exhaust my 700HP F150 is so loud you cant have a convo in the cab I wish I did the E85 and the larger oil pan when I had the other done. It has a tune on it now. But not chaisng HP just reliable and better than stock..
Love the car man, what steering wheel is that?
czcams.com/video/qTtgtsag228/video.html
Can I ask where you got the retainer clips? They are SO nice
All hardware is from titanium works.
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks very much, I appreciate it!
I have zero engine mods because I’m not a mechanically inclined person.. so I have a couple questions.
If I was to get all of these items (for the sake of this question), would it harm the engine if I put all of the items in at once in whatever order or do they need to go into the engine in a specific order?
Also, I have a ‘15 wrx but what entertainment system do you have? I’ve never seen that one before and it looks like it has Spotify installed in it?
The fa is a bit different and I don’t have experience with it, so I can’t comment on the first question, unfortunately.
It is the idoing headunit. It’s linked in the description under car stuff.
@@Scoobyfreak86 can you tell me what FA is or what the difference is?
Fa20 is the motor in the 15+ wrx. Sti’s have an ej, which an entirely different motor.
Thought u need a speed density tune when you change bpv
Hey man is that an aftermarket screen for the CarPlay? I have a 2018 STI and been wanting one just like that.
Yes it has CarPlay
@@Scoobyfreak86 do you know what the unit is called or where I can buy it?
There’s a link in the description under car stuff for it
@@Scoobyfreak86 thank you
Could you write down on 7 mods you did? So i could start adding to my wrx Little by little
Also, I lowered my STI and Im having some bump steer. Any experience with the bump steer correction kits from whiteline?
Never had to use one or encountered that issue.
@@Scoobyfreak86 So your steering feels good still? like stock? Mine tends to pull over bumps to one side or the other due to the suspension geometry being off in the front, basically the control arms are out of whack now. Thank you I'll have to do a little more homework on this.
Mine drives straight as an arrow. Some natural tramlining on pitched roads due to the wider wheels and tires. But otherwise, no pull towards either side.
Yoo man I had the same problem for a while when I went to 9.5 and a 265 tire, for some odd reason after I got my coilovers installed the bump steer got better (less noticeable), lowered the car about and inch and a half.. I thought it would’ve gotten worse. I am installing some whiteline tie rod ends this weekend though..
@@tsix8987 i had bad bump steer after running fa-500 coilovers. I installed the whiteline bump steer kit and its 95% gone. I think i only get those occasional bump steers from running 9.5 wheels but its been improved tenfold with the bump steer kit
Are these specifically ej motor upgrades that you don’t need a tune for or will the SA take these mods just fine too?
I am referring to the EJ in this video
Could you show us what you put under the hood ? All the carbon fiber trim pieces
Lots of videos on all the carbon in the engine bay.
I'm just getting into the car scene, but would these also apply for the 2022+ wrx? My bad for the potentially dumb question.
No such thing as a dumb question. This only applies to sti ej’s and pre 2015 wrx with the ej motor.
were did you find all the carbon for the engine bay? . except the alternator cover i know were to get that
Multiple companies. Cobb, password jdm, subispeed, revel gt.
Do any of these void warranties?
