This video is edited but rabbit r1 it is actually quick. Like 1.5 - 2 seconds for most responses. Jack edited this video for flow. I may just publish an unedited session as well.
Yes please! I'd like to see an unedited session! Also any testing while outdoors would be much appreciated.
Release the unedited footage
Please do, otherwise it just makes things look better than they actually are. Someone might buy it off of this video alone and think this thing is actually fast to reply to questions. Could lead to dissapointment and "dishonesty" in this video. But at least it seems faster than the Humane AI pin lol.
I purchased this for my ADA family member under this exact impression after watching your video. I really wish you at least mentioned that things were edited in it, as your audio is mastered in a way that it looks like you're simply panning or changing camera views, not clipping out all of the 'downtime'.
Lew, it's kinda sus that you only mention this in a comment and not in the video, and since it seems to be a paid partnership from the description (also not mentioned in the video).
A real life pokedex
Just looked did anyone said this yet!! :D Really my first thought
omg hahah legit!!
😂😂😂 it looks like it
😂😂😂❤

Ladies and gentlemen - this is what a paid review looks like.
This device is what I call an android update away from being obsolete
it actually runs on Android. LMAO
It is an app.
MKBHD provides a real consumer review, no BS, tells the hard truth as it is and not influenced.
How come this review seems paid and untruthful. Why edit the delay?
Do you want to make it look like R1 is not a shitty product?
Why are there trolls/paid by company commenters here.
I'm out.
You know the answer.
It's paid. hands on
lmaooo bruh i unsub years ago and dont miss it.
Sandwich man and marketing B.S. that’s what this channel become (a couple of year ago)
Rabbit sees dog.
Rabbit: "Whats up doc"
😂😂
Reading this in bugs bunny's voice 😂
Is this the 30+ Gang?! What I miss? 😅
More like Wassup Dawg
And they said you didn’t have a sense of humor 😂😂😂
Better than the Humane AI Pin.
Not really. It doesn’t do much
@@ranranpoopants Neither does the Ai Pin, but this is a lot cheaper and it's faster. It also has an actual display as well.
I agree and I would say more affordable as well!
also no subscription
@@ranranpoopantsHe said it's better, not good, though I'll wait until the other reviews come out to see
Amazing tool for blind people. I can imagine a blind tourist standing on a square, pointing into different directions and exploring the beauty of the world. And also this device can guide around the city, pointing places to visit and endless other advices and assistance in day routine. There is a little friend in the box.
I was about to say this. If they can build this to meet the demands of people with disabilities it would be a win.
That’s a pretty good use case
How is a blind person even going to know what the device is saying? Like if it says "its a beautiful sea with dolphins jumping around" how is he going to process that if he has never seen anything?
there are a lot of smartphones like this already.
He works for them, and deserves a raise.
Reviews like this are why I’m glad we have MKBHD.
perfect device for the visually impared
Yeah. Not more.
Yea glad they included the screen that perfect for people who can't see!
@@TTOS69Thats why it speaks back to you lol
.It will be more like an eye for them
Not really, the scroll wheel and screen interface would be a problem, it needs to be 100% voice.
Bingo
Still 10x better than the Humane Pin😅
And much cheaper I believe too!
@@brivnii $200 no subscription vs the AI Pin which is $800 with $24/month sub. The AI Pin is a brick withouth a subscription btw, you can't do anything without a sub.
@@eksot how are they going to survive without subscription money? they need powerful server farm to serve all those requests. Even if some part of AI model is on hardware it needs to connect to servers.
@@Chipsaru im wondering about this too, however I'm not too worried, cause they had to convince the investors that they'll make money + the CEO has built up many industry leading startups winning global awards so at least we can be calm. but yeah, perhaps they'll launch an app for those who say "why no make an app for this" and that app being with a subscription or something. Or, they might be getting money from doordash, spotify and other collaborators for bringing users/clients
not only 10x. but 1000000x
Just remember- it's a video edited to make it feel like the r1 is responding within a second of each query. We know from Jesse's video that it's not that quick
I also noticed that I’d like to meet for a couple of more reviews in order to ascertain this
From the live reviews shortly after the device launched it's pretty quick
@@prithviraj1080 I don't think this is actually a review. Read the description.
This channel's been known for doing paid reviews lol, wait for Marques
Exactly... misleading
at this point this channel should just call themselves as independent marketers for tech
You mean paid marketeers 🤣
Yes, very sad. It's become difficult to watch and so I'm out.
Why edit out the long pauses during the processing time? It'd be better for viewers to know the real world latency.
The audio isn't edited. It's response times are better than any other options rn
@@coldsubstance6179 if thats so - why would you leave that critical proof out?
Theres no long pause, even top comment said the response take 2-3 seconds and its quick
@@coldsubstance6179 He's already said the audio is edited. It's okay for it to not be perfect, you don't need to outright lie to make it sound better. You don't owe Rabbit anything.
its not a demo of long pauses, but the end result
They made the box so nice because in 2 weeks of you using the rabbit that box is where it will remain
Pretty much
I don't think its for our generation 🤷♂
After a day I'd have robot voice avoidance syndrom kick in.
Mine did not last 2 weeks before packing it up
So this is just a bad phone?
Well no, because it is used to do tasks more sophisticated than Alexa, Google, Siri....it can actually do tasks inside apps for you
@@Shifytee123 There is accessibility features on phones, for visually impaired, that basically do the same.
@Hypagon not sure about accessibility apps. This for example could open a supermarket app, order your list of groceries, checkout and pick delivery slot for example.
It obviously integrates AI too
Watch other reliable reviews and decide yourself
Like this channel lol. At least they get one more comment 😂
Got mine last night at the launch party. Love it. My 6 yr old is already using it to ask questions about the world in a conversational way. BTW the case fold all the way around and is a desk holder that still allows the device to plug in.
That is incredibly smart! Looking so much forward to mine.
Why not just use a smart phone ?
@@handsanitizer2457Because smartphones give slow responses. Siri, Alexa, Bixby, Google Home etc all desperately need an update.
@@handsanitizer2457 it makes learning more fun and educational, pretty good for children.... And if you don't want to get something your child a phone yet this could be a good alternative
Kid's can become addicted to smartphones @handsanitizer2457
When I was a kid I used to watch an animation show called Reboot - it was one of my favorite. One of the MCs was a guy by the name of Bob and had a device on his wrist which went by the name Glitch. I've seen these new devices come up and they remind me of Glitch. Would be nice if this tech was worked into smart watches❤
Rabbit really dropped the ball with this one. It feels like they tried to create something unique, but ended up with a product that's more of a novelty than a practical tool. At $200, it's way too expensive for what it offers. If they had marketed it as a simple toy for kids, maybe it would've been more forgivable. But as it stands, it's one of the biggest tech flops of the year. In the end it's just a tech demo with a lot of issues, a beta device to mess around with, not an actual product. Oh yeah, and it's orange so it must be cool, right?
I saw the MKBHD video, it actually has 3-4 seconds of delay while Lew edited it to make it look like 1 second
It seems to work better than I expected from the first batch of devices. I was waiting for some reviews, but I’m convinced and ordering one now. Thank you for the nice and quick review!
I don't think this is actually a review. Read the description.
Yeah I’m thinking I’m gonna buy one too
You should wait for the review of Marquees Houston. This is a paid promotion, so biased.
I think you should wait for a review, it's just an unboxing.
unless you are willing to take a risk which is totally ok too
@@Bricefriha I'll take a risk as it is only 200€ without subscription. I already ordered one in batch 7. I just wanted to know that this product is legit and they can deliver something. It looks much better than the Humane AI pin first impression.
Now we finally have devices that can tell us what we are looking at. Great.
Finally I can donate my eyes
I'm actually really excited about this new device. The ability to learn applications and then execute them via voice is tremendous, the learning aspect of this device is great. The AI chat features are also very convenient to have and I like how it is more robust than the average GPT chats that are out there. The price point is perfect. I'm really eager to see how this evolves
There is not a single reason why this device couldn't be a phone app.
great person, seeing you since very long. good work
I'm just glad to see you are still alive and well 🙌
As soon as i can use this device to control my home assistant its an instant buy for me. Excited for future integrations as well as the teaching mode!
R1 has a touch screen, but it is partially locked for some reason, seemingly to encourage people to talk to it rather than type on it. The lock screen is to protect from accidentally issuing commands. i think this product has a solid foundation and a solid concept to build upon. The company needs to listen to the complaints and needs to get their LAM working as well as people expect it to work. LLM's are awesome with text, people expect the LAM to be comparably awesome with graphics. i plan to use LLM and LAM in a mutualistic relationship with each other. i view the Rabbit R1 as more of a desktop companion and also suitable for use while driving.
Finally the review !
Edit : still no idea of performance irl 😮💨
This isn't actually a review. Read the description.
just watch the keynote the ceo did last night. he demonstrated everything there, explained whats been completed, what's next, etc.
This will be great for some people with vision problems!
As a UI designer and technology enthusiast, the launch of the Rabbit R1 almost made me shiver. I always thought that smartphones would inevitably be replaced by AI terminals in the future, and that user interfaces would gradually disappear. You will no longer need applications, because all services will be linked to AI via cloud, and user interface and application concepts will disappear, leaving room only for "services".
me before watching the video: “huhh. I wonder why I stopped watching Unbox Therapy”
me after watching the video: “ahh. I remember. they only do paid ads now.”
Are you jump cutting when we’re waiting on the response?
Yes they are. It will take anywhere from 3-10+ seconds to gather the information. Very misleading.
@@zeuscochan7389one reason why I rarely watch this guy anymore
Yes, they admitted it in the top comment
@@zeuscochan7389 I agree it kinda is , but would you watch a video of an unboxing of a device that has 30 seconds of silence every 3 minutes?
@@jasenwarI don't think it's purposely misleading tho.
On CZcams you kinda have to make videos that are not boring
This thing would be amazing for old people i think.
Especially the reading out loud of text with the camera
I like his optimism about a product that can easily be replaced by one update on a phone.
Most people cannot carry 2 devices around and a phone is a lot more capable
I look forward to getting mine sometime in June/July time frame from the R6 batch. At least I get Perplexity Pro for 1-year. Quite excited after seeing these new videos as well as the keynote speech.
First time that I dislike an UBT video. Is so sad to know that you edited the video to avoid the time that the devices takes to answer your commands. That doesn’t reflect the real behavior of the device. So unfair for your followers who jump to purchase this trusting in your reviews.
It’s not that deep lil bro
I purchased for my father who is not good with technology and is almost blind. This will be enormously helpful. Particularly the eye.
The best things this device has at the moment are the quick spreadsheets to your email after drawing it on a page or the ability to speak a spreadsheet into existence and have it emailed to somebody. the stacked questions, the speed which is faster than other devices of its kind, the ability to point it at a document and have it summarize the whole thing, the ability to point it at a chess board and ask it how to win. I am waiting for it to be able to manage notifications then it will superceed the smarphone.
For people who are blind or have trouble seeing this can be a huge game changer. im excited to see where this goes.
This is the story about the time a rabbit, met a dog. It was love at first sight.
we need a day in the life with this (i have batch 4)
You hit the nail on the head when you said it reminded you of gadgets pre smartphones. Reminds of of when I was a kid and I had a similar sized voice recorder/changer with other funky sound effects like a portable soundboard! I don't know how useful it will be but there is a certain level of nostalgia it provides
the F5.5 is one of my top favorite knives of all time i am glad you have an exclusive version
I’m actually glad you did this review. I haven’t seen your channel for a while..
Wow me too
it's not review 🤦
Tf you talking about, stop glazing
Me too
@@Ratgodx Glazing? Is he a doughnut?
POKEDEX in real life!
Actually reminds me of the OG iPod Touch packaging - love it.
When you can link this to more apps and or operating systems, this will be a REAL game changer. This will be the bridge between softwares and services 👌
“When will the Maple leafs win the Stanley cup” Rabbit:System Error
A rabbit and a dog
Glad to see the rabbit r1 finally getting reviews
i think this is very useful for people who are older or visually impaired - not technologically inclined
It's just wireless chat GPT4. We will have this on our phones within the next 12 month.
while on the humane ai pin disaster i felt like this is what its actually about, and was feeling like this is the meaningful one, you are right, this is just easily adoptable by smartphones
This will literally be in the next iOS update for Siri
But its not apple or Samsung
Excellent point! It can make a phone call
The entire point is that it isn’t confined to an operating system. You can use it on all of your devices, any website, etc etc. Can you get an Apple app on an Android? Can you get an Android app on your PC?
This device is perfect for those who are anti-social media. Long have we had complains about media overload, but at this point in life you’re at a serious disadvantage without a mobile device. R1 fills that gap, gets your day to day stuff done and allows you to focus on being in the moment like the old days
It's interesting that there is a cut between each question and answer in this video. Why not show the actual responce time?
Wire it with a flipper zero, "Hey Rabbit, send DDOS attacks to every device in a 30 meter radius around me."
I miss the old unbox therapy
Same
Same
Same
In what way has he changed?
@@m.pluto_o everything feels scripted now it don't really feel authentic like how he did videos back in the day
Bro.. it's a phone.... With no phone. My phone can currently do everything that thing can...
At the end of the day, it's an extra device you need to carry and charge and people won't want that. I predict it'll be replaced by an app on your phone as NPUs become commonplace. It's a great 1st gen device to advertise a new capability though - 100% should get credit for that contribution and I'm excited to see where it goes
I am intrigued by this, I like the fact I can interact more with my surroundings instead of looking back into a phone screen for my results.
Instead of looking at a bigger screen, you can now look at a smaller screen, exclusively on the r1.
Did you ever heard of, uhmmm, google assistant or maybe siri ?
like if your waiting for MKBHD review of this
I have a feeling MKBHD will be okay letting this one live.
Not when he's in his toxic phase
Oh stop. Crying he just stated the obvious about that goofy tech was he supposed to lie on the receive?@@paramvirsingh3822
Yep immediately looked to see if his was there. Think they're running scared LOL
Still not sure why I would ever use this over AI on my phone e.g. Google lens etc. yep it does what it's doing well but don't think I did use it over my phone
The problem is....there are hundreds of millions of "rabbit r1" devices already out there, some with over a decade of hardware revision, with established users, brand loyalty, many are committed to multi-year contracts - and people experience actual anxiety when they're separated from said devices. Unless rabbit attempt to piggyback said market with a mobile app, I can't fathom how this project will ever succeed beyond novelty curiosity, which demands a maximum price of say, $40...at the most.
I could see this as an exellent companion for visually impaired people and a device you could have at get-togethers to confirm details in conversations and also keeping the conversation going. It kind of works like pocket Alexa. If you're used to talk to Alexa at home you could probably use this naturally on the go. Price is a bit high but maybe with time it'll get updated to be worth the money.
This video just gave me a serious case of the 'wow' factor! Absolutely brilliant 🚀
This is everything Google was promising with google assistant and wake actions / voice activation. Google also started adding context and other ways to remember and let you string together prompts. Sucks that google assistant is basically dead now, but we'll see if Gemini or this dedicated device will compare.
Google kills all their good products and ideas. It's unfortunate.
Did you know you can set Gemini as the default Google assistant?
Atleast it works. Great job to the team. Very excited for them.
Its like 700 dollars you can get a phone that does the same and more for the same price.
I'm very excited for mine to arrive, as I feel like whenever I open my phone I'm sucked into it with all the different apps vying for my attention. I'm also super interested in the Teach Mode. I can't wait.
I kinda like it! I think what's left in my before loving it is that I'm so accustomed to my phone it'll take time to change in me and in some people...
Why are all the videos covering this cutting in between chatting with the model? Is it really taking that long to process responses? To be honest the jumpcuts are not doing the overview any favors, even if its actually fast and we just dont know that as the audience..
Patience, it's new. It will progressively become quicker but as anything it needs development.
Honestly 199 seems like an incredibly fair price for this. I am tempted to buy one.
Rabbit R1 - $199
Monthly data plan - $15-$40 per month (varies by carrier)
Spotify Premium - $11 per month (individual plan)
Midjourney - $10-$120 per month
Good Job Lou Explaining the current phase of this product and what it might become .
I preordered one after the launch party thing. What strikes me the most, is that this thing seems fun. Tech hasn’t felt fun for me in years.
Ahh does I was the only one who felt like
An alien music 😅
You know what this thing is missing?
Not LAM,
Not any fancy AI feature,
3.5! It need a 3.5mm jack to complete the experience.
Totally!
It has a bluetooth feature. Earbuds should do the trick.
It has a usb-c, you should be able to connect any 3.5 via a tiny adaptor, just as on every new mobile phone, tablet and computer
it's an android device so use usb C or bluetooth for that
True
I love this. I hope TE makes a music creation function for it too
It's application for elderly and disabled folks who can't handle the quite complex interface of smartphones could be life changing. This can't be understated. I'll be exploring this path when I get one in a few months (batch6).
For me personally, after decades in tech, I'm excited to use something different, smartphones are somewhat boring now being highly evolved tech that barely changes.
Hey... That's pretty good for a dedicated AI device!
Didn't expect this little device to work so well; its outputs are quick and detailed. Thanks for the introduction; I'll definitely be ordering one.
The output is not quick. They are cutting the delay
@@Praecantetiait is quite quick overall, not instant but within 3-4 seconds is the longest I've seen it take to respond, and that's for fairly obscure things. A majority of the time i've seen it between 1-3 seconds in response time, it's fairly quick! It'll also give you really detailed responses even for more obscure items it seems.
@@MARIOMAKER-wk8vy that's not quick, not for a 2024 device!
This is honestly super useful if it’s that intuitive and quick at responding. Amount of times I have a simple thing to look up it would be super sick to have.
One thing that amazes me about this is battery it stays at 61 percent throughout the video ❤
But why can't we get an un-eddited shot of how long you're actually waiting for it to generate a response? Interesting...
You can see those at the live keynote that aired last night
Also, on the rabbit discord, there are many unedited demo videos. It’s quick.
iJustine did it worst 😂
the response time is like 1.5 seconds usually
@@MEHLOWikr 😭😂😂
This could be incredibly helpful for a blind person, like they can actually go for a walk while the device guides them and tells them what’s in front of them.
That Denzel album slaps
For a product like this, we need to see the response time. The fact it was edited out paints a false picture!
Batch 4 here, can't wait to get my hands on this this summer sometime!
how do you know your batch number?
@@FilipLuch You should have an email saying, "Thank you for your purchase!" If you go to Order Summary it should say what batch you are.
@@TaeKwonMoe I tried. nothing about that. weird.
@@FilipLuch curious, what is your date of purchase?

Pretty sure it's edited for speed.

Not once was the question and answer in one cut 🤦♂
Not a good sign...
i wouldnt take it around with me but id certainly buy one and keep it around the house for quick voice orders, questions and such
I have ADHD, depression and PSTD, i think this honestly may help me, having a separate device all-in-one to remind me things, set alarms, ask questions while cooking and things like that, WITHOUT the distraction of my phone :)
i honestly think this could very welll be a mobile app. is the device really necessary?
Damn all the cut after each questions… not once did you not edit it to see how long it takes the r1 to process the answer. How much were you paiiii*d for this ??? So sad.
I look forward to the accessories for this.
This is on the spot, the movie Her with Joaquin and Scarlett makes me want this
A display, a camera, and a built-in AI assistant? Everyone has one in their pocket, it's called a smartphone! 😂
😂😂😂
Hahahaha that's true
That's kind of missing the point of the device though. The novelty and industrial design aspect counts. Teenage Engineering also designed "playdate" which is a hand held gaming device. Sure, people can also play games on their phone but it's fun to play on a dedicated device. They are not mutually exclusive.
@@minimalist6660100% I have a playdate and a pocket operator, I buy devices like these to keep me OFF my phone
It has faster response times and many features that a phone can't do
This could have just been an app on a phone 😂😂😂
The idea is to not be using screen on a phone. Kids nowadays are all addicted to their phones and consume useless information online. Something like this prevents that and at the same time encourages them to learn new things. I would buy this in an instant if it could somehow Still be used offline which is impossible at this stage
No ecosystem constraints this way, more libero
Hope this develops well. Would be amazing for seniors (and disabled persons, as many others mention)!
I bought one in February this year, can’t wait for it to arrive in the uk.
Waaaay faster than that humane badge thingy
Still a cut every time he asks it a question though
@@teslacshox look at the last nights keynote; response time is 1.5-3.5 seconds

Far better than Humane AI pin 😅
If you have seen the movie Her, you know that the Rabbit is a prototype of the AI terminal presented in the film. It looks like a smartphone, but it has no applications, no UI, and could even do without local storage. The HAL computer from the film 2001 The Space Odyssey is similar, its screen is only used to transmit information and not to interact, all interactions are managed by AI.
Towards the end he asks why its hardware instead of an application. I would use an app that costs money over this any day
