Turning George Washington's Wallpaper into a Laser Cut Lantern

- Today I'm at the Makerspace laser cutting a lantern inspired by George Washington... more specifically the wallpaper from one of the guest bedrooms at Mount Vernon, his home.
Hospitality was a big part of day to day life at Mount Vernon, especially after the American Revolution when Washington became a world figure. The property saw an almost constant flow of both dinner guests and overnight guests who stayed in a range of guest rooms on the property. The volume of hospitality was possible only by the work of a multitude of butlers, cooks, housekeepers, farmers, tradespeople, and others, most of whom were enslaved.
Today I am recreating the wallpaper currently on display in the Yellow Room, a guest room once noted as having the nicest furnishings.
It's not the original pattern, but an educated guess as to what the Washingtons could have selected for the room. Enjoy :)

The flying pig is really doing it for me what a beautiful design!!
Great idea to transform images on lanterns. Thanks!
Frog tape needs to sponsor you! I love your inspiration for this. You have a great eye for design!
I love frog tape! It’s the best stuff for this kind of thing
Everything about this video is wonderful! The insteresting process of you making things with your laser accompanied by historical facts and good music!I like the effect of the laser engravings. I’ll subscribe if you make more things with your laser!
Cool idea. George Washington would be proud. : )
Thanks!
Really fun interpretation!
Thanks Dave ☺️
so fun! the wallpaper is such a smart inspiration to pull from
Turned out great. Love the design - I wonder what George would think of the flying pig?
See, I personally think he’d love it bc Ham has long been an iconic product of Virginia. Served very often at Mount Vernon. Bacon too.
Came out great. Lift the candle a little?
Maybe. I suppose I could it up on a block or something
this is really cool! three days on the vector - epic.. the flying pig and tossing the wood on the laser were great touches =)
