The Utah Jazz defeated the San Antonio Spurs 3-1 in the first round of the 1994 NBA Playoffs but thanks to Dennis Rodman this series was one of the most memorable in Utah Jazz history.
Robinson was still wholesome while turning the other cheek in this clip; it was Stockton that displayed incredible beastly strength in body slamming the Admiral
Yeah, Stockton was wholesome before and after games, but he was a bad man whenever he stepped on the court. For his size, there’s never been anyone tougher. He wasn’t scared of anything, and he didn’t take any crap off anybody.
The Jazz played great regardless, but there's a good chance Rodman's theatrics in Game 2 cost the Spurs this series. His forearm on Malone and cheap shot to Stockton's knee came in the fourth quarter of a game that was already decided (Spurs were down 75-49 entering the fourth - the closer final score is a result of garbage time). One can argue Rodman shouldn't have been out there in the first place, but there's also an argument that getting thrown out and suspended for something you did while down 30 in the fourth quarter of a playoff game is quite a poor strategic decision.
I would say haha Stockton 6'1 taking down Robinson 7'1 but that dude Stockton was tough. Good luck future point guards getting close to his steals and assists records. Robinson went down faster than an innocent church boy in a priest's private office!
alot of those dudes flop tho purposely trying to get the other person into trouble. ive done it in hs sports and have had it done to me our punter was amazing at it we got extra possessions all the time from him flopping.
B. Entringer In the 97-'98 season in Duncan's rookie year Robinson averaged 21pts and 10Rebs a game. I wouldn't call that the end of his peak and if Robinson was a role player then he is the greatest role player to ever play the game. LOL espn.go.com/nba/player/stats/_/id/715/david-robinson
the game of basketball was so much more physical back then...the performances were more relevant.back in the day,it was a big story when somebody scored 50 points in a game but today...you got tony parker, brandon jennings who scored 50..that's crazy.
Rodman could heavily control the outcome of a series. No other player had his passion and tenacity. I believe Pippen and Jordan were scared of him, so they recruited him.
There were two plays that cost him. Game 2 was all but over before the fourth quarter even started (Jazz were up 75-49 at the end of three) yet Dennis Rodman felt compelled to forearm Malone in the head in the fourth quarter (very first clip of the video above) THEN cheap shot Stockton a few minutes later. Even then, he wasn't ejected until a moment later when he was T'd up for taunting. The game broadcast stated it was his second technical but I don't recall the first, unless it came after he low-bridged Tom Chambers in the first half (which actually ended up with Chambers getting ejected). Rodman earned that suspension. He basically tried to load up every tech and flagrant possible.
During that series rodman literally stomped on Adam Keefes chest like he was a log. yea rodman had a suspension coming and deserved it for sure. They should really remove such a player for longer periods if they just repeatedly prove theyre just a goon out to injure people.
Funniest part - Stockton and Robinson were 2 of the most wholesome dudes in the league.
Robinson was still wholesome while turning the other cheek in this clip; it was Stockton that displayed incredible beastly strength in body slamming the Admiral
don't be fooled by that boyish look that Stockton had though... Rodman, no less, called John the dirtiest player in the league during that time... LOL
Stockton was wholesome outwardly. On the court he and Rodman were peas in a pod.

Stockton wasn't wholesome. LOL! Dude was a killa!
I think Stockton was the only guy who could out psych Rodman
Once a Piston, Always a Piston...
Stockton pushing Robinson to the ground should be on every Stockton highlight reel ever. That guy was a man's man
Stockton was like "chicken shit" lol
The day stockton broke characther
Stockton was always a dirty player

With Rodman, it's crazy he was doing all that provoking with Malone and he still proceeded to get lit up. Malone dogged him this series.

Dan Thomas Robinson 2 NBA Titles
Stockton 0 NBA Titles
+Wesley771000 Robinson got it being a role player. His peak ended in 97 when he got back problems. Then Duncan saved his career.

I saw Game 1. It was incredible.
0:17 John knocked that nigga out.
Is that the closest Stockton ever got to a fight in a game?
No, look at other video
Y’all’s comments have me screaming! But I’m laughing so hard at Sloane saying, “I just got kicked out. Said something I guess wrong.” Lolololol
I miss john stockton
Me too.
this was a 1994 WCW Bash at the beach preview!!!
DDP had to have been in the crowd.

WTF is wrong with Tony Parker ?! He is a amazing player and a futur HOF
Happy Birthday Dennis RODMMMMMMMMAN!
You know Robinson is serious when he doesn't blink a lot whe he's talking lol
I Hate That Basketball Can’t Go Back To This
how and why exactly did the spurs fall apart in this series
Highlights are literally 80% fighting and 20% basketball
Man I love Rodman. I wish there was someone like that in todays league
Draymond

Rodman was great, but if he wasn’t on a team with a true leader, he can be destructive.
@@ThatDoesntWorkForMeBrother He just needed a coach he respected, which he did not respect Bob Hill
what does dennis say in the 0:47?
"Me and you. Me and you, baby. Me and you, Stockton." (Then something else at the end I can't make out.)
@@Swove2204 "Me and you, baby" It´s my guess.
i did do and/or probably will somewhat like the rest of these players
look at the way they were defending baby john awww
I duck wit Jerry sloan
i did do and will really really hate david robinson
Why Does Rodman get suspended for Game 3 just because he kneed stockon in the thigh
There were two plays that cost him. The late David Stern hated his guts. That's why he got all those suspensions.
During that series rodman literally stomped on Adam Keefes chest like he was a log.
