This is by far the most beautiful and musical demo of this pedal. Most reviews focus on what is crazy and extreme whereas you make it sound beautiful and usable.

The sound of the Thermae is so wonderful. A desert island pedal for me - on guitar and synth. With a little reverb it is hauntingly beautiful. I run it into the Specular Tempus as well. Great sounds and passion as always Mark.

So... while I have already wanted this pedal for a few months now...
Listening to you talk about it...
ust the level of excitement in your voice and in your face and in your eyes...
I have a feeling you could sell me on anything if you just described it as you did here while describing this pedal and your love for it.
    👏👏👏👏👏👏
Just your passion behind the things you love is truly inspiring.

Super inspirational stuff, I ordered a Thermae a few nights ago because I saw Joel chilling in a Bath (lovely chase bliss video), and then I found your video -- what lush soundscapes and fantastic tones you were able to get from it! Your tone is exceptional here (and your dual UA amp sim setup now is somehow even better!). Remember that when you are creating something different than most others, you will always get detractors, and yet that is where true artistry always begins. Cheers, Mark. Keep on keeping on.

I'm kind of torn between this and the ADG-1. I don't know how much I would use the pitch shifting. While originally I was leaning thermae due to midi control, but with the OBNE MTET, I think that could help bridge the gap between the thermae and ADG-1 in terms of live control/functionality.
Wasn't sure what ideas you might have between the two.

I've been very much hoping for this video and it's perfect. Your absolute love for this pedal is palpable and it sets this demo apart from the rest. Thank you.
What do you find is the best way to dial in chorus-esque tones?

    • @markjohnstonofficial
      @markjohnstonofficial  Před 5 lety +4

When you ask about the chorus tones I assume you’re speaking to the lo-fi warbled tones. The trick there is to turn your mix to full, regen to zero, and then tap the tempo to as short a delay time as possible. That’ll be an almost zero latency faux-dry signal that is affected by the modulation engine and the low pass filter.

Hey Mark, what a beautiful sound and playing. I'm pretty inspired to pick up one of these. I'm missing a killer pitch shifted delay (since I moved on the Meris Hedra, which was awesome but pretty wild). A quick question if I may: can I assume you can set the repeats to play an octave up, specifically by way of a portamento glide? I see you are manipulating this with the tap tempo switch, but I'd like to be able to have all my repeats do this without the need to always use the tap switch. I have a specific use case, which my now-lack-of-Hedra is preventing me achieving! Thanks, as always - love you work.

Beautiful demo Mark! Newly subscribed because I’ve scoured CZcams for great demos on this pedal, specifically to show the pitch sweeping capabilities after seeing it done with a Kiev Volca Keys and this is exactly what I was looking for!
I’m going to find your Insta & follow you there too.
I’m wondering, can you do the step pitch sweep with an expression pedal in its exp input?
I’m going to get my own Thermae by the end of this month. Thanks for you beautiful & passionate gear videos 🙏🏼❤️

I’m buying this pedal today based on this video!! Question..... the technique you’re using at 12:06 onwards where you press something in order to get a high octave delay repeat of what you’re playing.... that’s amazing... what’s it called and is it in the manual??? I need that in my life. GREAT playing btw 🙌🏽🙏🏽

So many people tripping with these noises... I mean, they're cool but... how long can you listen to this... there is no song, no composition, perhaps make an actual song with it ??? This is the type of "music" AI creates already for free. No disrespect man, maybe I just don't get it right?

    • @ZenMountain

@@markjohnstonofficial HAHA yeah, I don't get it. For me it's just useless noises I found interesting for 30 seconds and then never want to listen to ever again. Nothing memorable I guess... or just an excuse for people who don't really know how to produce actual music. Do you get high while producing these noises? Because that would explain everything. Once I got high and listened to white noise for 35 minutes. I sometimes wonder if people who listen to this are just completely stoned out of their minds...Give AI a try, you'll love it. Cheers man, great channel, good luck :)
