  • At Thor's previous groomers he was placed in a crate with a muzzle on because he was barking excessively.
    Just a PSA for all the groomers out there, we don't muzzle dogs because they bark. Get a pair of noise-canceling head phones.

      I actually own 2 labs. 1 legitimately only sheds twice a year. Thank god for him being an oddball when it comes to shedding. The other one.....not so much. 😅 one grooming session alone with my younger lab could produce enough hair to knit a happy hoodie. 😂😂😂

      My girl is still in her puppy years, but she hasn’t shown favoritism to water deeper than a few inches. Not lazy, but not very active in the sun (she just gets too hot and refuses to move)

      We had Labrador-Schnauzer mixes, the hardest thing about bath time was to get them out of the water, and to prevent them from splattering it all over you because they are trying to catch it. They love water like crazy

      lol yup we have a chocolate (bruno). well we use to have two labs a black ( Elvis) and chocolate (Bruno). the black passed we had to put him.down because of old age and we didn't like watching him suffer from arthritis. anyway we would takecthem to the vet and elvis was like nope I'm out of her as soon as he was in the building. bruno to this day is l8ke hi everyone be my friend. and goes up to every staff member. i always laughed when i took them .

      yes my nephew that's 2 1/2 (yes he'll tell you you ask him then says he's a big boy) loves our chocolate lab Bruno.we do video calls and he gets ao excited if we show him bruno.

      Yeah. My parents’ Lab, when I was little, was WAY hyper and also not well trained. She thought trying to jump on a toddler was a great idea. She just wanted to play but it was terrifying to me as a kid!!!

      @@nerysghemor5781 We had to take him for LONG walks, before we could start training him daily. Finally, I got the idea to teach him Sign Language when I was teaching the three basics. I called it DSL, Doggie Sign Language, and it kept him more focussed.

      Hopefully he didn’t smash her like he did the glass.
      Also that scene is funny enough the more accurate part to Nordic Mythology as it’s widely believed that putting down an empty glass on the table was bad luck. I don’t think they smashed it but got it refilled before setting it down.

      I briefly cared for a retired seeing eye dog. His owner had died & I promised the owner I would adopt him. He was a lab but his training had taught him not to wag his tail. He was one of the most well behaved labs I've ever known. On walks he always tried to guide me across the streets 😆 Great dogs so smart.

      Yes! I’ve had 3 labs and learned very quickly not to keep things on coffee/end tables or even on arm rests of chairs/couches. Also, if you have a cabinet for fancy dishes or wine glasses, make sure they’re stored above 36” or behind a cabinet door. We’ve come close to losing some hanging wine glasses in the wine cabinet. 🐶🤣

    My mother grew up with a female Lab, Cindy, and spoke of her with great affection. Cindy proved herself one night when a stranger tried to force the front door open; her thunderous barking scared him away and woke the whole neighborhood. A very good dog.

    The "excessive tail wagging" comment is so true! I had a labrador a few years ago. He often had bruises on his tail because he wagged it so much that he banged it everywhere, lol.

    They are not so difficult, an hour of walking per day is ok. If you run, that’s much better. If you do it twice a day they will love it. If you propose a third such outing, they will look at you like you are mad but they would be more than willing to share the madness.

      @@Varunsharma-gx1px, I've volunteered at a Groomers. Huskies were the loudest, but I would never put a muzzle on the dog. If the dog gets aggravated, stop and give the dog time to relax before continuing. Or, if needed, distract the dog.

    He looks just like my childhood dog, Daisy. Daisy was basically a giant puppy her whole life. Everything was so exciting to her and she never lost her energy and love for being alive, even in her old age. She used to pull me around on her leash when we went for walks, and she was a great swimmer and loved the water. She provided great comfort to me when I needed it most and always seemed to know when I was in need of her. I miss her every day.

    In my experience, Labs are all energy until 2-3 years then they start to calm down and by the time they are 6-7 they are happy to lay down in the house and get belly rubs. Lol. They will still fetch for you but sometimes they do it once or twice and then are like, “If you keep throwing that away, why should I bring it back to you. Let’s go binge watch Breaking Bad again…”

    The best time to bring a Lab into your home is when you have an new toddler. Labs are excellent nannies and the kids have the energy to keep them happy. They both burn off excess energy with games and they are excellent companions.

      They will also knock the toddler down as they zip past or grab a sweet smelling sock off the little foot. Plus, steal food, toys, lay smack down on the toddler and other wonderful goofy stuff. ❤️

      Also builds their tolerance for dander. Having kids play outside/dirt/mud also makes them less sickly ironically. It's like those people tolerant to snake venom. They inject themselves with less potent venom them they intensify it until they become tolerant.

      Laughing here, `Lay smack down`, happy memories of the kids when they were little in a house with three big breeds, but they eventually became part the rough and tumble and grew more confident as humans with it. Their cousins on the other hand were in doggo free houses and were nervous and consequently pin-balled all over the place when visiting LOL.

    I grew up with a black lab named Thor. He didn't like to swim, only walking into the water up to his chest. He was bought to be a hunting dog but was afraid of dead ducks.

    Labs are the best dogs. I had a black Lab named Hunter. We were inseparable. He lived to be 16 years old and he was loved by the entire family. ❤

    I was told when I got my Lab, that they chew till they're 2 and shed until dead. They were not kidding, One or 2 days without sweeping and I have tumbleweeds rolling across the floor

    I like his personality, wanting to play tug o' war with her towel. The opposite of the stoic American Akita she groomed. That is an incredible dog too, but just different.

    I used to have a labrador and he was just plain crazy but also full of love, he also hated bath time but would jump into any lake, river and puddle

    This big boy reminds me of my goofy labrador who unfortunaly passed away 2 weeks ago. 12 years by your side buddy, i'll never forget of you Spike, you made my days looks so much brighter ! Me, Mom and Dad loved you soo much buddy ! Wait for me until my time comes too, i'm sure we'll be reunited in the heaven

    What. a goofy boy!! I had a lab/doberman mix growing up. He was all black. He hated water, talked like a dobe, sat on the furniture like a dobe does, otherwise the rest was like a lab. Head and body and most of his personality. He also protected naturally with no training! He was a gem of a dog! His name was Jasper and I will always miss him.

      Seen that and 1 extra trait.. resisting going for a run. My friend has one. Probably the ONLY reason the lab resists is because my friend was able to match the energy of the lab and then some.

    Our dog is Thor , a golden retriever, too and does the same thing when we try to towel dry him. He ends up running away with the towel 😂☺️

    My lab just loves the drying with the towel moment. I get the towel and put it over his head like a scarf and say "Little Red riding hood off to Grandma's house' . I have a laugh and he wags his tale in response.

    I once had a lab, her name is Bella. Although she was so sweet and a little bit puppy naughty, we had to let her go. She didn't die or anything, my dad is just allergic to labs. We had her for two weeks. The best two weeks of my life

    Gorgeous specimen ! Not all labs are as nicely filled out as Thor and he looks like show quality, to an untrained eye. The hair issue was good to mention, but the loveliness of Lab's kind of makes that acceptable. Kind of. You were laughing as he tugged you into the salon, like he DIDN"T know what was coming. lol

    Love my old Yellow! I've had her since 6 wks old, and she has been dogger velcro ever since. Very responsive, happy & protective of me!
    True about the shedding! After she blows her coat early summer, she continues for the rest of the year!
