Folks on my last gear video complaining that I use Garageband with “expensive equipment” and I’m like I have $100 interfaces and $150 headphone with $150 keyboards. My setup is hardly professional 😂

    • @IAMLXGEND

      I didn’t talk about acoustic treatment in my video because I have none. I haven’t done the proper research to know where to put panels and where sound bounces precisely in my specific room set up aside from the obvious bass traps. And I don’t want to fake it as if I know and give out false information. But I’m sure you can find quite a few videos on CZcams about that aspect

    most of the engineering don't mix on the headphone, they check the mix on the headphone, the reality you mix on monitor speakers its more challenge but its that.

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  Před 5 lety +9

      I made it perfectly clear in the video that most people mix on monitors. But that I personally do not. Because I don’t currently have the liberty of blasting music into the early hours of the morning without getting noise complaints from neighbors and having the cops called on me. This is why I mostly use my headphones.

      IAMLXGEND Hey man, I’ve been watching your videos (especially since I decided to get some waves plugins while they were having a sale). Just wanted to say u are inspiration. I started out with logic and a $50 mic kit and moved to a audio technica 2020 (I’ve also used FL for vocals). I fell off w music the past months due to personal problems, but recently I got a Scarlett solo which sounds way better than the phantom power that came with the $50 mic kit. I have a MacBook that’s good enough for me rn and looking at your videos let’s me know I’m not alone when it comes to mixing at home. Ima get back to this music and hopefully catch a break in the next few months. Maybe not blow all the way up, but something to get my foot in the door.

    • @quanboy6533
      @quanboy6533 Před 5 lety

      IAMLXGEND I had a question doe, in my previous mixes; even doe I used a low budget phantom power it didn’t sound too bad in my headphones. I see that u mix as well with them and I wanted to know how to get your mixes to sound as good on speakers as they do on headphones? I live in an apartment building so I don’t have the luxury of blasting monitors all day. I also saw some of your waves coal mixes on GarageBand. It looked pretty simple, but I have no problem sitting and learning. I just wanted to know how exactly should my mix chain be arranged. Like what would u put first and so on.

    Thanks for another great video. Im using a M audio 49 keyboard and My daw is LogicPro. Im thinking about getting the Maschine mark 3, because I like hitting on pads. Thats the main reason I want it. Im still learning Logic and don't want to take time to learn the Daw in Maschine. In your opinion, should I get the Maschine for the pads, or something else. Also I like your desk, is it from guitar center? if it is, is it the small one or larger one?

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  Před 5 lety

      No. If you just want pads I recommend you get something a fraction of the cost for such. If you’re just using it for the controller. In my opinion it would be a waste of money to buy a $600 maschine only to degrade it to just a midi controller. You’re better off at getting an AKAI MPD218 if that’s all you need. It’s 1/6th the cost. $100. Whenever I make these videos I always forget to mention my desk lol. It’s from guitar center yes. Studio Trends 46 inch.

    Whats the stereo adapter you use for the headphones jack on your interface? My scarlett solo makes some very bad sound because of my adapter is just bad with a too large input surface for the 3.5 mm adapter so its loose. Your adapter has a smaller adapter input (basically the hole where you plug in the regular headphones cable)

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  Před 5 lety

      Just a basic quarter inch adapter for headphones.

    You're right, xlr mics are way better, but usb mics don't suck, not if you choose the right ones. I had a Samson C01U Pro, i used it for recording rap vocals and not only that, it is great for the price, it was about $70 bucks. Just wanted to let some people know, not everybody has money for an interface and an expensive microphone, at least not right now, so this could be a solution for right now, Good day to you :))

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  Před 4 lety +1

      They do suck. No dynamic range. Worse with editing audio. Never said everyone needs to have money to buy an interface or an XLR mic and no, not all of them are expensive. Some good quality ones are just as cheap as a usb mic. That said, they can buy whatever they want, but still won’t be as good as a normal studio mic.

    • @sladegaming6625
      @sladegaming6625 Před 4 lety

      IAMLXGEND well, the good xlr stuff is more expensive than usb of course, but usb is also fine to start with, depends on what people use them for, for rapping, i know they’re good, at least some of them, with that being said, i will also buy a bluebird or an NT1A from Rode soon.

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  Před 5 lety

      Lol... if you’re sure I’m said in the video why don’t you watch it?
      I always respond to comments but I’ll be honest with you man, I don’t like when people ask questions that I’ve already answered in the video because then it shows me they don’t actually watch the video lol...
      Anyway, I use Maschine to make beats and Garageband to record vocals. It depends what your workflow and production style is and what you’re trying to make.

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  Před 5 lety +1

      A midi what? Keyboard?
      There currently are no keyboard with drum pads included that come with production software if you mean a DAW. Only stuff like reverbs and such. The only hardware that comes with a full production software is native Instruments products. But none of them have keys AND drum pads. You’ll have to choose which you prefer.
