Great sportsmanship as Michael Beale insists players concede after controversial Tillman goal! đ€Ż

- Äas pĆidĂĄn 11. 02. 2023
- Malik Tillman appeared to be injured so the ball was kicked out of play for a throw-in, the United States international then pressed and won the ball back immediately after play continued and went on to score, this sparked outrage among the Partick Thistle players.

I'm a Celtic fan but all credit to Michael Beale. His post match interview was excellent too. Young Tillman was undoubtedly unaware of everything that was going on and pressed the ball as would be his norm but huge credit to Michael Beale as I said. Not sure what McGregor's doing though! đ€·đœââïž

@egal Now now. Keep it friendly mate! đ
Credit to Beale, I think McGregor is just at the wind up- he's clearly going to let the guy score, just having a laugh with him about it. Not sure I agree about Tillman being unaware of what was happening. Pretty shameful that the home fans are booing good sportsmanship. But it's hard to know how much to judge them for that, football is an emotional game, you want your team to win, and at that stage a victory looked anything but assured for the Rangers against the mighty jags..

This is what sport is about: learning to keep your head and do the right thing despite having the will to win. My hats off to that team.
If you think that's the "right thing" you're fucked in the head. Red team got scored on because they fucked up and Blue team didn't. End of. Valid goal. Zero controversy. But hey this is the country of hate speech laws and you can't defend yourself, so of course you have the softest, weakest standards of the "right thing" known to man.

Full credit to Beale. The game was in the balance but he put fair play above the crowd pressure. Surely some Rangers fans there saw the bigger picture, despite the cascade of boos? Take the win-win.
The bigger picture was that we could have lost the game due to scoring a legitimate goal. The Thistle player wasn't in any hurry to give the ball back. Loser mentality from Beale.
As a rangers fan this is the right thing to do .. stop the petty remarks
I was at the game and disagreed with the decision (didn't boo mind you) - having got home and watched Beale's interview and heard his version of events, 100% the correct decision.
It was definitely the right decision.True class

Honesty and Sportsmanship is bigger than Football, well done!
This is brilliant and increases my faith in football management. Massive credit to the management and players.
Sorry, I'm not buying into this bs. They were playing Patrick Thistle fgs, there is net a snowballs chance in hell he would have done the same in the spfl, or against a premier opposition.
He showed his real sportsmanship qualities when his team refused to have Celtics name on there kits in the League Cup final, the only club to do so ever, then trooped his team of sore losers up the tunnel after receiving there runners up medal, again, the first team in Scotland to do that in a cup final.
Unsportsmanlike in the extreme and bitter, bitter losers.

Great bit of sportsmanship and well down the Manager
The commentator was right, it has happened in England. Doncaster Rovers vs Bury FC (RIP). It was great sportsmanship. Doncaster accidentally on purpose kicked the ball back to the keeper and it went in the net. They then allowed Bury to walk in the goal. Bury should have scored about 10 goals before that but had been unlucky. I miss my team
Sorry about Bury man, football clubs are cultural institutions and it's sickening when one is allowed to disappear.
There was another case of this happening in England, in the championship, Leeds vs Aston villa, klich scored for Leeds in that situation and there was an uproar like here, so bielsa instructed his team to let villa score from the kick off which they did
Emotions can run high in the heat of a battle...but to win without honor, is a win not to be remembered.

For someone not intimately familiar with the subtleties of the game, what was the issue with the blue jersey stealing the ball at the beginning of the video?
Tillman (blue no.71) appeared to be injured from the previous play. Typical sportsmanship means that the team with the ball would intentionally kick the ball out of play for medics to come onto the field.
In this case the team in blue kicked it out, meaning that the other team is supposed to throw the ball in.
Typically teams would just give the ball back by kicking it far towards their opponent's half.
Tillman didnt get the message and took back the ball before that could happen.
@@KHRrocks Thank you for the explanation. I do not watch a lot of soccer and was wondering same thing myself what was going on. I wish person who posted video had explanation in the post so it would have helped. Makes sense now that you said it.
Tillman was lying injured and didnât see Colak put the ball out, so heâs blameless. Right decision by Beale.

It is kickoff. The team in blue are Rangers FC and the other team was Partick Thistle FC. Malik Tillman was the Rangers player who scored and, as the Rangers manager had said in the post-match interview, Tillman wasn't aware of the situation when he had scored.
