In mid 2022, I took my 1988 Air King in for a complete service at RSC in Beverly Hills, CA. In this video, we will go over what a "complete overhaul" includes, what it cost me and how I feel about the overall experience. Please enjoy!

Polishing does not affect the value - if anything it adds value. Over polishing affects it! Rolex do amazing jobs with polishing and refinishing watches. Had my 10 year old Hulk polished and serviced and came back immaculate

The Air King was my first Rolex. Purchased from AD new in UK around 1982. Black dial and date!

@@KyleJett I wish. Sold it in Singapore around 1992 for relatively peanuts, to get into a newer Rolex with a sapphire crystal. Foolish! 🤔

just got my Datejust back I have owned and worn every day never take it off for over 25 years since I was 14 years old. I got it serviced and polished once about 15 years ago but just recently I had rolex do the full deal on my watch. They put a new crystal, cleaned movement, polished, ect. It looks BRAND NEW!!!! Yours is insane as well

Looks amazing...I prefer the vintage Air King dials over the current OP design actually. If they had replaced the bracelet, would they have put on a modern one, or would they have new old stock for that particular model?

I much prefer the older, vintage Rolex watches. Their simplistic dials are classic and minimalist, which is very attractive to me. The Air Kings and Oysterdate Precisions are my favourite, the latter being a manual wind just adds to their quirky character IMHO ... Your Air King looks superb!
For the most part, I tend to agree with you. There is a certain charm the older pieces had that the newer ones lack. Thanks for watching!

Very nice watch. Enjoy it in good health. Good to see those who state they don't care about $ value since they will never sell. Feel the same way. Just got my GMT M II back from Rolex Authorized service center. Received same pouch, warranty card. I did not polish, so only 750"ish $. Look forward to more video's.

@@KyleJett Bought it in 2016, well before the COVID craze shot watch prices through the roof. You could buy any Rolex you wanted back then. My local AD had pretty much everything in stock. Boy, how times have changed.

I find it quite interesting that they still make parts for these watches… if they do, I’d think that be awesome if they rereleased some old school watches but with all new parts.
They do still make the parts, pretty cool. I wish they would do that, re-release some of the classic icons. That would be great!
Will they service one with an aftermarket bracelet? Or do they refuse it unless you allow them to install a new one.

I’m kind of surprised they can legally keep your old parts. Some places like California require the return of old parts for anything if you request it. So I wonder how they get around stuff like that.

Overhaul is a service only. The whole movement is taken apart cleaned and oiled. They do not replace dial and hands. If they did they would have invoiced and told you. Especially on an old watch Rolex guys need to know and have to approve these parts replacements because we usually want to keep the original parts on the watch or keep the old parts. I’ve had many watches serviced there. I have one at BH RSC currently. I paid the same $800 plus $550 for dial and hand swap to another color. $800 is service only
@@jtorrebl So, I just took my Submariner in for a warrantied service and confirmed with staff at Rolex that this absolutely can happen. My dial was swapped. To be clear, I don't mind. I will never sell the watch. For those that do, they should be explicitly clear with RSC when bringing the watch (especially vintage pieces) in that they do not want such parts changed. There is a discussion on this very topic on the Rolex forums. Here is the link: www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=475521&page=3. If you take a watch in and request a dial swap, i.e. silver OP dial to blue, of course there is a charge for that. Austin Daniels has videos on that subject, I believe.
They would have returned the old clasp to you regardless. They return metal parts that are replaced, (crown, hands, bezel, springs, etc.)

I doubt anyone likes bracelet stretch, lol. But I'll live with it rather than paying the grand for a new one.
@@KyleJett I sent mine to Rollyworks they disassembled and rebuilt my Oyster bracelet for $500.00 Worth every penny IMO.
How is the tax so cheap? 😅
LOL, it looks odd on the bill doesn't it?! My guess is that tax is only charged on goods and not the services. So at 9% on the $46 crown, it would probably be $4.38. Looks weird though, thanks for watching!
