The technology for a Flyer or flying cars is no longer a thing of the future. There have been several designed concepts of cars and airplane breed of vehicles for at least a decade now. These are Real Transforming Vehicles that exist today. And the more civil aviation is growing as a whole, the more this idea of autonomous flying car is becoming real.
Think for a second how companies like uber and left have changed our means of transportation for ever. And incase you haven’t heard, both these companies are also working on their own autonomous cars and flying pods. A car that can fly sounds amazing, but lets check these things out and see how exactly they work. Here are the 5 cars listed in the video.
1. Terrafugia Transition - The Terrafugia flying car is a concept designed by a Chinese owned company based in the United States. The designed concept have been introduced to the public for some time now. Here is what we know about the car:
- It has an autonomous system, meaning it is fully auto pilot. And you can simply tell it where to go. The airplane will fly itself.
- The vehicle/aircraft is equipped with 2 electric motors and a 300hp engine to recharge the batteries for the motor.
- While in flying mode, the Terrafugia will travel north of 200 miles per hour and go as far as 500 miles in range.
- This vehicle is really a car, helicopter and airplane in one. You have 2 engines and motors that will stand straight vertically and lift you up like a rotor in an helicopter, and then once in cruise, those same motor changes position and faces forward for better thrust and faster cruise like in an airplane.
- You barely need a run way for takeoff or landing
2. Aeromobil - Here is another cool concept car that will transform into a flying machine with a push of a button. The Aeromobil already has several models with difference in performance. Also one of the neatest designed car/airplane out there. Here are some key features of this flying car
- The car or airplane seats 2
- Has 4 wheels just like a real car
- The flyer mode has a pusher motor and propeller in the rear of the vehicle
- You would need a runway like a standard airplane and a pilots license to operate this flyer
- In car mode, you can travel up to 100 miles per hour
- In airplane or flying mode you can cruise north of 200 miles per hour.
- For Safety you have an option for Autonomous Flight
- And this aircraft has a parachute on board
3. Pal-V - The Pal-V is a European designed vehicle that is equipped with a flying rotor system and a pusher motor when it’s ready to fly. Unlike the others, The PAL-V look more like a motorcycle on 3 wheels than it does a car. It has a very narrow design that allows front to back seating for 2 people. Here are some more start on this flyer
- Has a rotor system that allows the vehicle to lift off the ground vertically and and pusher motor in the rear.
- The Flying car is equipped with a 200HP engine
- The flyer can cruise up to 100 mph both as a car and airplane
- Price for the PAL-V is around $600,000
4. Kitty Hawk - The Kitty Hawk Flyer is a prototype aircraft that was founded by Google’s co-founder Larry Page. The Flyer is more like a human drone than it is a flying car. The Flyer is also fully electric, and I counted 10 rotor blades, 5 on each side. so this vehicle has a total of ten electric motor that powers it. On of the best feature of the Kitty Hawk Flyer is that it has an auto stabilizer while in flight. And it was designed to be a very simply operating machine that all you need is a knob and probably some foot work to control movements of the aircraft.
5. Maverick - The Maverick is a US based automotive company, except these guys build flying hot rods. Looking at the Maverick, it looks like an old school hot rod. But it’s one that can fly. The best part about this vehicle is that it’s probably the only one that you can buy today because it is fully certified by the FAA. With an experimental light sport certification, the Maverick can be yours for less than $100,000. That may seem like a very expensive car to some people, but you an also consider it a very affordable airplane. Unlike the other concept cars though, the Maverick is not designed with a fixed airplane wing. Instead this flyer has a parachute like wings accompanied with a pusher motor to provide thrust and lift. Some key features of this flying car:
- It was built for great for offroad driving
- The wing is a parachute, big canopy wings
- It has a pusher motor in the rear ones it’s ready to fly
- The controls feel similar to driving. You just turn your steering wheel to make a directional turn
- The flying car uses a Subaru car engine producing190 brake horsepower

Mike, I love your videos! I think you missed the mark on which is the best, #1 does it for me. I fly paramotors, so I know that weather is going to be an even bigger factor for #5. I would buy a Terrafugia Transition today if it were available. I can't wait.

What is the price of 1st one
The first one doesn't classify under any circumstance as an autogyro, it is a VTOL aircraft (vertical take off and landing). Anautogyro has an unpowered rotor which is in autorotation (meaning that is is basically a windmill) that creates lift just as a normal wing, this configuration is capable of achieving shorter take off and landing distances than a normal general aviation plane but faced against a jacked up STOL cub from Alaska with double slotted flaps and LE slats it's either on par or worst. Also im am very skeptical of those tiny wings being sufficient , it may be able to fly at 200mph but when a motor will fail and you have to land like a normal plane i dont think it will be a very pleasant experience.
I think death rates will soar. This is a horrible idea. One flying car isn't bad. But fill the sky with people on their way to work that are running late and disaster will strike.
We have drunk driving now. By then we'll have drunk flying. Seems we'll need flying traffic cops too
Not sure,because the price tags of these vehicles will probably range to about 40,000-100,000 Dollars. If you think about that,only a few people will have these vehicles,making death rates rare.

Even orangutans can drive with no problem yet the buffoons in the US can't drive, always cause traffic because they don't know how to drive more than 5mph in a densely packed road or highway and constantly cause traffic. And sky cops? Yea no cops belong on the ground, they're too dumb to be pilots. We don't need pigs ruining flying too. Not that you can pull anyone over in the air.
My only issue with tf-x...It flys for you, AWESOME! So in an emergency situation we're screwed?

What is price of flying car
The Terrafugia would require the same category rating as the V22 Osprey. Yes there is a civilian equivalent of the military version. The FAA designates this category rating as "powered lift". It is a separate rating from rotor wing or fixed wing.

Sure you do....But you will only be able to fly it from airfield to airfield. Then a full safety check before you fly. you will only be able to use limited air corridors avoiding built up areas, there is nowhere sae to land in cities. You will need a pilots licence. Better off buying a nice car and a aeroplane for much less cash.

Enjoyed the video. Not sure about the legality of flying an aircraft without a pilot's licence though. I think you'll need to have a pilot's licence to fly one for the foreseeable future at least. Also, the concept is not a new one. There have been a few attempts at flying cars, dating back to around 1935, where the Autogyro (Autogiro?) Company of America produced a flying prototype it called the AC-35. However, today's prospects are much closer to reality.
Just relatively speaking, a lot of these are still in concept phase and these companies are counting on having these vehicles as a product for the masses which would be almost impossible since most people don't know how to fly. More than likely though if any of these were to be mass produced today, some type of certification will be required to operate them safely.

So this is basically a plane. I thought it was gonna be like an actual hovering car. Imagine the hassle of trying to buy this car. You most probably have to pay for flying lessons. Your flying license. And then pay millions of dollars just to get the damn car. Honestly I don’t think buying a plane built like a car is that worth it.
Only ppl with tons of 💰, would be able to afford 1, spare 🚫 expense. I myself, wouldn't want 1, if I had the $. I'm deathly afraid of heights, and it's definitely 🚫 my style. I couldn't even be a passenger in 1 of these things.😂
