Thank you, Beth! You always have words of wisdom. I took care of my mom for many years and she passed 3 years ago. When she got critical, I took FLMA to take care of her and everyone left after the funeral, including my sister, who lives out of state and did not return to help as promised. It was overwhelming and depressing. But a therapist told me that I honored her in every way possible and now I need to take care of myself. It took some time, but I did move forward.

I sit down almost every evening and make a "need to do today" list for the next day. I don't overwhelm myself, and feel so good as I mark off each task. If I see something that needs to be added I have a "future" page that it gets listed on. Yes, I am a :note" person. Even when I was working everyone knew to check with me on any notes from a meeting. Love your postings... keep them coming.

Oh I love the future list! I always underestimate how long tasks will or should take so my To Do lists are always too long and then when I don’t complete everything on the list it is quite depressing to me. So having a future list will make a huge difference, especially if I don’t put a to be done by date on them. Just knowing that it’s ok to be aware that it’s not on the Future list would make a big difference to me. Thank you for sharing.

I recently ordered the same brand of whitening strips! I like to swish around my mouth with diluted peroxide after flossing, before brushing. My husband uses baking soda on his toothbrush like you do. I should do that. I love natural ingredients like baking soda. 🎉

Hello Beth, I’m going to get some of those floss brushes for my bathroom and purse. I know how hard it is to have aging parents. I took care of mom until she fell and broke her ribs. Went to a nursing home to recover and one thing after another kept happening there and she was never able to get back home. She lived the last 4 years there until she passed in March of pneumonia. She was 101 years old and still had a great mind. She was my best friend and I miss her so much. She always made the best of everything and so easy going. Everyone loved her. Hang in there Beth❤

I just love doing self care for my teeth, and learning more tips about dental care. Just two suggestions: my dentist said to use the curved picks that are similar to yours. They’ll get around your tooth better.I’ve recently started using them, and love it!
Also, I’m surprised you aren’t using a rotating electric toothbrush. Now THAT feels good! Also a water pick. It gets out things that the rest can’t reach.

My dad started a denture clinic with his wife many years ago. I have seen what not taking care of teeth has done. And a coworker I had years ago her cousin died from an infection from his abscessed tooth. The infection went to his heart and he went into the hospital and never came out alive. You are absolutely right about infection and tooth health.

I like the GUM curved soft-picks, & those even come with a little travel container! Which style you prefer depends on how much space you have between your teeth. The shocking thing is even with flossing, water-piking, & brushing, these picks will STILL find more!

Hang in there! I know what you are going thru! My dad suffered from Alzheimers and my sister and I helped our mom care for him. And then just recently my mom suffered a stroke and my sister and I took care of her until she recently passed away. Both of us were emotionally drained. But know that what you are doing is so important to them. I went thru a period where I didn’t want to so anything-I didn’t think I could handle anything because I felt exhausted. I had always worked out but I started doing yoga and it really helped! I’m thinking about you!

What u said about counting the yrs between u and ur parents resonated with me. I’ve been thinking the same way trying to remember when they stopped driving etc so I can really look at my yrs going forward and not waste them “planning a future” like I have done my whole life. I think living in the moment is all we have. That being said..did u ever end up with a whole house of “stuff” that u had to declutter? It’s been weighing on me to have less stuff but I have no talent for it. Did u or are u minimizing when u or ur parents move? Can u show ur process? I don’t think I know the difference between throw away and give away anymore 🤷♀️

Unfortunately, we are in the process of doing that right now and I didn’t make a video about it. That would’ve been a great one though. Wish I’d thought of it! Lol!
Those gum picks are great. I can't live without them. My dentist's office can't believe how clean my mouth is and I know that helps. I also use my water flosser. I'm so glad your arthritis is gone. I'm using Sensodyne Proenamel Active Shield which is maker my enamel stronger and my teeth feel stronger?! which is good.

The brushes come in different “gap” sizes.
We have the same dental routine !!!. If the little red brushes are a bit too big for you, I believe you can get smaller ones.

Those gum proxa brushes have different brush sizes. The one you are using is called "moderate"....they have smaller ones...one brush that is called "tight" for teeth that are closer together. Thanks for the awesome video.

I used up my soft picks my dentist gave me and they are a great product - I set aside one pick to use as a tiny comb in order to brush through some heat protectant spray through my straight eyelashes, then curled them with a warmed lash curler. A coat of waterproof mascara locked in the curl and my eyes looked so much more open! I only do that for special occasions since it’s time-consuming.

Does using hydrogen peroxide regularly use cause gum tissue recession over time? I've seen conflicting articles about how using too much whitening can do that. I've tried everything to whiten between my teeth. They used to be so white, but as I age, I'm not able to get my teeth as white as they used to be. I do use enamel repair toothpaste and keep good care of my teeth. I'm going to try the GUM soft picks to get in between better and the fact it has a brush may help gently scrub away stains in those those hard to reach areas. I started using Crest Emulsions gel right just between the teeth, but I'm not seeing amazing results. And I've experienced gum irritation. Thanks for any more tips! I appreciate your videos!!
That’s a very good question. I haven’t experienced that personally but I’m not sure if it would be worth researching it. I will look into that.
I moved my mother into a highly rated assisted living facility a few years ago. It was a big mistake. Behind the scenes of “planned activities “, nice decor, and the promises of help are unskilled and overworked labor and disrespectful attitudes towards our aged population . You will find a few helpful aides but for the most part, your loved ones will be reliant upon uneducated uncaring staff. The best advice I have is to put cameras in your parent’s apartment and a sign on the door that anyone coming in will be watched.

No. Unfortunately it doesn’t.
Honestly, I watch the videos of Dr. Ellie Phillips, a dentist who advises against whitening products because she says they actually are harmful to your teeth. She came up with a wonderful regimen using things you buy at the store in order to keep your teeth healthy and it also will whiten teeth naturally. I started doing that & shortly afterwards, when I had my 6 month cleaning, the dental hygienist said, wow, you don’t have much plaque, so you are doing something different. I didn’t say what I was doing, because I’m always afraid they will try to discredit it in some way. But at 60 years old, I’m glad to see it’s working. I may not have teeth you see in the dark, but healthy looking teeth & gums are good enough for me.😉❤️

Please do an update on your black irestore helmet. I have the white professional I've been using for 10 months I do see that my hair is thicker but the thinning on the temple has not grown in too much at all. I want to know if the black helmet works better... I know it works faster but does it work better. Now you should have been on the maintenance program with the white helmet when you switch to the black. So taking all that into consideration please do an update Thank you.

I still am in the window to return mine I thought maybe if I returned it for the purchase price and they gave me the sale on the black helmet that I would be willing to put in the difference... But it still $1,200 difference... No way. My husband has had some improvement but realistically you're not going to get like thick hair. And I've had some improvement too just wish it would grow in on the sides a little bit more. Well it's only been 10 months so Dr Drey did her review after 18 months. Will see maybe I'll get more. I think the Tom toothpaste don’t include fluoride. Not sure about that though but I bet she can find one on Amazon.

My daughter is a denturist for a dental clinic. I got to get my teeth cleaned and they told me it would take four hours to clean my teeth because I had not been to the dentist in 10 years. It took an hour and a half and two trips, and I told them it’s because I don’t eat potato chips and carbohydrates like that. I eat a lot of protein. I have an always been that way over the last 10 years but for the most part I’ve been keto over the last 10 years. I attribute it to that and also for the last six years I’ve been using young living toothpaste. They were expecting a mouth full of cavities, and I had only two and what they referred to as surface cavities that took under 10 minutes to fill. I’m telling you dye it will take your teeth like nothing else. I also don’t drink pop.
I don''t use any oral product that contain fluoride. It's not healthy for you when added to products. Only when it is naturally-occurring to I ingest it.

Actually, I switched from carnivore to a Whole Foods plant-based diet because my cholesterol got very high on carnivore and I had a stroke. I really enjoyed being on the carnivore diet though because it did help with Cravings for sure.

There is a slightly different one made by GUM that is curved. My dentist told me to use that particular one for my gums, you massage your gums between your teeth with it. He told me do it at least twice a day and it would improve my gums and now I am addicted. I have several containers sitting around with the house and in my purse. When I am sitting around watching tv, driving/riding in the car or whatever I will use them. My gums have never looked healthier.
I use the straight kind and would love the name of the curved ones, and where to access them. Thank you. ☺

Beth are you still following the Vegan diet or have you had any second thoughts?
Yes, I am still following the plant-based diet but I have to admit I have loosened up some on it. I still don’t eat any animal foods at all but in terms of the low-fat version once in a while, Alan and I splurge. For instance, we just ate at our favorite Asian restaurant and I’m sure it was a pretty high fat vegan meal.

Oil pulling is very good for your teeth and gums. Be careful what you use to clean your teeth. Fluoride and hydrogen peroxide kill the microbiome in your mouth. They also found out that dental floss has forever chemicals in it. Don’t know what to do about that yet. Your teeth are beautiful.

Unfortunately, I have always had shaky hands. I remember when I was in seventh grade science teacher called my mom because he was worried about me. My mother has always had the sam3 tremor.
I skip the toothpaste and use baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of peppermint oil. I also use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash. I know, yuk! But for me, I think it's healthier than most mouthwash on the market. Also, a gum stimulator is a helpful tool for keeping gums healthy. You have beautiful teeth! It IS important to take care of our dental hygiene. Glad you posted this! Hang in there for the journey ahead. I think the only thing we wish we'd of done differently is to practice self care while experiencing our role reversal with our parents. Anything else we do we'll never regret. Helping them to maintain their dignity and not treat them as children is a fine line to walk. As with everything...think of how you'd want to be treated. It's a very special time for all involved.
