    In all the years of owning cars-and I've had Cosworths, Subaru STis, Evos etc, I never once thought to myself ''I Know what would improve my car owning experience, no key to start instead have a stop/start button''. Car manufactures should bring back the key & starter to start the car and ditch the key less push button start. They should also bring back the 'double lock' on the doors like I think Vauxhall used to do, ie you put the alarm on with the fob which locks the doors but you could also put the key in the lock & 'double lock' the doors, making it impossible to open the doors without a key. In this day and age cars should be more secure than they were in the car thief heydays of the 1980s and 90s but really they are much easier to steal now.

      Most cars nowadays can’t be opened from the inside without a key but some smartarse with a computer can easily circumvent that along with coding a new key

      Ford's also double lock, aka deadlock
      Essentially disabling the interior door handle so even smashing the video, the door cannot be opened

    • @dazednconfused31337
      @dazednconfused31337 Před rokem

      Our old Avensis had the double press to deadlock feature (doors won't open from inside). But our newer MK3 Seat Leon does it every time with one press.
      When we first bought it I got trapped inside and the alarm set off. That's why it says "Check Safelock! Owners manual!" on the display every time.
      There is a way to escape via the boot lock if you slide the key in a slot or remove a panel (estate).
      It needs two presses on the key to lock just the outside and disables the alarm. So you could leave someone inside.

      I just bought a new dacia. The key doesn't even have a keyring. It's pure sh1te. I never thought they could make something so lame. No way to attach a keyring. No.pouch for it. No where for you to put it in the car. Just had to stay in your pocket. Its been designed by students who think we need this keyless tech. We do not need that stupid tard crap. Bring back the key with a keyring please 👍👍

    Hello and good real life review -- very true re storage space for the Disklok We use two diskloks. 1 on a focus with plenty of space etc (unless its a full of family car), and 1 on a Fiat 500 less space and item can be cumbersome. They are very big and noticable especially mine which is bright yellow. Stoplock is possibly more easily attacked and removed. Disklok for long period parking?? Stoplock for nipping in the shop??

  • @sulyokpeter3941

    Stoplock is good, but if installed wrong, the tieves can just bascially cut the steering wheel itself to get rid of the lock. If installed properly than you need to cut the steering wheel in 2 places(This is way too much effort and time for them to get rid of that thing). This method + an another anti-theft product can make your car safe form thieves but not 100% remember this, especially if you a have a newer car... You need multi-layered defense. Newer cars have this feature called keyless-entry. It is all nice and good, until some crazy good and experienced thieves found your car. They can easily steal it in seconds. So what i recommend is that, if you have a keyless-entry car, make sure you turn that feature off(You can do that, instructions in the car handbook), then install the steering wheel lock PROPERLY, than lock your car and place your key(s) into a faraday cage inside your home. Still not 100% safe, but the effort to brake into your car is too much.. So basically they need to brake into your car by smashing a window(The car alarm will go off if it is fitted with one), than they have to make a new key for your car(Any modern cars have an OBD connector or how is it called, bascially you can acces to the car computer) thieves have a device which will create a new key for your car if they plug that thing in(until they configure a new key which is i believe less than a minute, the car alarms are still screaming) then they will have to deal with the steering wheel lock. Not worth for them. Too much effort, too much sound, too much time and too much damage made to the car.

    Back in the day, you would face the lock into the window pillar and window. Wheel could not be moved. I can't see why you would move away from this, thoughts anyone? I'd like to get the stoplock but can't work out which one will fit. Looked at the car models. Mine's not on there, despite it being used throughout the world and not having changed for 30 years. Landcruiser, 75 series or 78, 79 series. They are all the same. HELP 😞

    Will the stop lock pro prevent steering wheel theft on a msport steering wheel. They need a screwdriver from behind to pop the air bag off and undo a bolt in the middle and it slides off?

    • @beststeeringwheellock
      @beststeeringwheellock  Před 2 lety

      It would make it tremendously difficult. They sit over the air bag but are not secure so there is some movement on the lock. If you want to completely remove that problem a full disk lock is the way forward.

    • @TheRoybeasley
      @TheRoybeasley Před 3 měsíci +1

      Agreed - The steering wheel itself becomes the weak point. A couple of minutes' work to cut through the rim of the steering wheel and the Stoplock simply lifts away, leaving the car perfectly driveable and only needing a new steering wheel (which can be done at the thief's convenience hours, days or even weeks later) before it can be sold on. I've seen a video here on YT where a guy had his Alfa Romeo Guilia stolen from outside his house, all captured on CCTV. It took the thieves just a couple of minutes to bypass the fancy electronics of the car and about 30 seconds to cut through the steering wheel with hand tools to remove the Stoplock (which they thoughtfully placed, still locked and 100% intact, on the ground).
      The issue with the Disklok though is that the car can (with a bit of jiggling) still be driven a short distance even with the Disklok in place (provided you can defeat the standard steering column lock!), so can be removed to a safe place where the thief can get to work with a grinder etc undetected.

      @@TheRoybeasley
      Totally agree, but I think it's fairly diicult to defeat the standard steering lock with it in place, the main problem with the disklok, is it's awkward, heavy, and a "pita" to store in the car when not in use,,
      Apart from that, it's a good way of getting a bit of peace of mind, when it's on,,
      cheers buddy,,

    I have just bought a Stoplock Pro for my new (to me) Ford Fiesta - 2020 model. It seems to be fine fitting it when the steering wheel is straight or turned to the left as in the video but if it's turned to the right I can't get it on as the windscreen and side window get in the way. Is there any way round that or do I just have to start the engine again and turn the steering wheel?

    These shouldn't be relied upon as a primary defense. They are additional security to go alongside something like ghost or pandora security system. Plus your keys should be kept in a signal blocking pouch/box at all times.

    I never understood why car manufacturers dont make the steering wheels out of solid steel? They would have to add on a few bucks to the total cost but so what? Also, it doesn't have much to do with SAFETY (in case you are in a car accident) because the air bags would protect you regardless.

    • @knn3th
      @knn3th Před rokem +6

      It actually is a safety feature. Airbags only do so much. In a really heavy accident with a high speed impact, the airbag is not enough and a steel steerng wheel could potentially fatally injure the driver

    stoplock will actually assist thief’s when breaking the steering lock due the leverage then all they have to do is remove the pins on the hinge at lock end and say good bye to your car. The disklock is very effective as it spins on the steering wheel, preventing them from breaking steering lock. He say it’s a inconvenience due to its size when people sit in the back seats, the don’t put there just put it in the boot? Both are good as deterrent but actually doing the job, definitely disklock.
