One of the best gigs ever!! It was back in the 80's when I first heard of Carter, If only I knew then, that this was the starter, Of a love that would continue, from then until now, I wish I could explain but I don't know how, Perhaps it was the lyrics that resonated, you know-struck a chord, With something inside of me, that couldn't be ignored, Because ever since that day, you have somewhat inspired, Jimbob and Fruitbat, you're to be truly admired, You will always be held, in the highest of esteem, To those in the know, the cogs in the machine, The machine that is Carter, Carter USM, A brotherhood of like minds, a brotherhood of men, I feel privileged to have been there, right at the end, To pay my respects, at The Academy and attend, It was one hell of a send off, and you deserved no less, Best gig I've ever been to? There's no need to guess, I think really, what I'm trying to say, Is that I will always remember, that wonderful day, When I was down in Brixton, with my Brothers and Sisters, Where the atmosphere was tangible and so were my blisters! Thank you to all concerned, who have travelled this voyage, And I can only wish, that you too have enjoyed, The best two piece, by a country mile, Who did it their way, in inimitable style.
the melody maker tent! I was there.....fruitbat was sitting down due to an incident cleaning the bath if I remember correctly. Was it Neil young and crazy horse on the main stage?
Absolutely, no judgement gigs where you do what the f@£k you want and enjoy yourself. The energy of gigs and bands like this was on a different level, I'm yet to find anyone replicating it today.
Marvellous. Wish how I wish I had seen them. Miss them terribly. Good enough with a committed message for the “ right wing” shit emerging across the world today.
Still one of the greatest songs ever written.
