    for me the lack of numpad is an advantage
    I'd like to know more about the screen.
    dell advertises the ryzen version equipped with 300 nits touch screen
    While the intel version are non-touch with 250 nits.
    I'm leaning toward the intel version, as I have the choice to get it with the mx570 greaphics adapter.
    but I'm not sure if 250 nits would be bright enough.

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  Před rokem +3

      I'd actually wager that despite their advertising, getting a 300 vs 250 nit screen is more luck of the draw as to what the factory had that day. That said, if you're using it in doors exclusively, 250 nits is probably OK, but if you're going to go outside with it, you'll want the extra brightness. Kind of like crappy webcams, there's no excuse for these dim screens these days.

    Thanks for the review. This is the laptop i'm considering. Your review of the laptop was fine, but still leaves all us consumers in the dark. This or the Vostros, or the Latitude...? Im hearing that the differences are software features, while others say the internal components are different. Any knowledge about this?

    • @ComputerStuff
      @ComputerStuff  Před 7 měsíci

      It's a combination of software and hardware. Generally speaking the Latitude and Vostro lineup are for Dell's busienss class customers. THe laptops support higher security protocols as well as docking stations and the like. If these are things that you won't use (and most don't), then going with an Inspiron will save you money and offer you better consumer class features.

    1. Does the screen wobble when you type on keyboard?
    2. How's the battery life? I mainly do encoding and media playbacks.
    3. As I travel a lot, is it worth getting this 16 inch instead of a 14 inch for portability?

      @ComputerStuff  Před 10 měsíci +6

      1: I dont think you'll have an issue with screen wobble.

      I personally (visual artist myself) think that a cheaper laptop with a tablet is better than a hybrid. Most times the stylus will be jittery, and the feel personally isn't there with a glossy screen like this. If you are ok with buying a screen protector it may help to avoid over time scratching on the display, but this also may wear down the pen with models such as paperlike. If you do end up buying this solely for illustration work let me know how it goes, but I still think ipads or devoted tablets are the better option. It helps you save a bunch on your model, and as an artist- if you are flipping the laptop over to not be distracted by the keyboard the problem becomes the fact you lose your shortcuts. Also the palm detection isn't the most reliable.

    The numpad for me is indispensable, especially for work-related tasks. Rare for a laptop that's 16 in big to have none (most 15.6 laptops have it). The fact that they removed it to make space for the speaker is a bit of a head scratcher for me. I use my laptop speaker only when i don't have my headphones or bluetooth speaker, which is rarely. Haven't encountered a laptop with speakers that can compete with standard headphones/bluetooth speakers.

      I'm the other way around. I *refuse* a laptop with a numpad. I find it so stupid to have to line up my hands along the left. All that unused space along the right.
      Plus the touchpad ends up in the incorrect position, because centering it under F and J means the touchpad would sit way to the left.
