Willi Nelson is the coolest! Genuinely an all around good peaceful weed smoking old school country artists.They wrote their own songs and for others,masters of one or more instruments, sound good live. No auto tune in the 70s/80s.Mad respect. (Mommas don't let your baby's grow up to be Cowboys)(Blues Eyes Crying in the Rain) are 2good Willie songs.

I read one time about five or ten years ago that Snoop and Willie Nelson were playing together at a concert in Amsterdam on 4/20. After the concert they were hungry (for some reason) and they went through the drive-thru at Popeye’s. Lol

I think you're mistaken my friend. This is originally done by Elvis . He didn't cover it. And by the way Elvis' version is better. Many believe it was sung for his wife Priscilla. Willie seems like he sings thru his nose. He destroys it. No comparision. !!!!!!! There's Elvis and then there's everyone else. SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He can't EVEN hold a candle to Elvis. @@genebeamon4898 It was neither Elvis' song nor Willie's originally, it was BJ Thomas, but was not a hit for him. Elvis and Willie both had covers of it, but Elvis' came out first, and most people associate it with Elvis because his versioin came out shortly after he and Prisilla split up. Willie's came out years later. I had to look it up to refresh my memory, go check it out🎶🎵
@@genebeamon4898 three versions of Always on my Mind were released in 1972. The Elvis version was the third after Gwen McCrae and Brenda Lee. So Elvis didn’t cover the Willie Nelson version of this song but his was a cover none the less. The Elvis version was the biggest hit of the three.

Just a true legend that pretty much everyone across all music genres respect and admire. He’s a goat. He also infamously smoked weed on the roof of the White House during the Carter administration-or so the story goes. They are still friends to this day.

Willie has written so many hits for others. He finally became famous as an artist. Then he became a legend.
He also gives back. He and John Mellencamp started Farm Aid dedicated toward family farmers.
Willie Nelson is a legendary performer and is like the nicest soul in music. He's like 84 now and still at it. I think it's probably all the reefer that he smokes that keeps him young and trucking on. He said in an interview on the 3 or 4 part documentary on PBS last year or 2 years ago entitled Country Music by the legendary documentary guy Ken Burns that in the late sixties when his home in Nashville burned down he only had time to grab two things which were a suitcase with most of the music that he wrote over the years and a suitcase full of reefer and he split for LA. Last month I saw Snoop Dog on TV and it may have been Martha Stewart who asked him if anyone ever out smoked him and he said I'm the king of reefer smoking and the only person that ever out smoked him was Willie Nelson. He said I was hanging with Willie one night and I'm looking at this old dude who just kept smoking and I couldn't keep up with him. He said Willie was the only person who ever out smoked him and Snoop takes pride in his reefer smoking intake. It was funny as hell ! Check out "On The Road Again" which is my favorite of Willie's. Good chance you two have heard sometime in your lives, it's not slow like this one and catchy as hell. Once you hear it the song will always be in your brain, it's a great American classic. ☮️✌️💕👌

Willie Nelson is the kind of person and musician/singer that is universal, that almost everyone can like and relate to. He was also influenced and casually taught by Texas jazz musicians, therefore he knew better music theory and jazz chords by exposure to jazz, swing music, unlike many others who just use three chords all the time. It is evident in his writing and even in songs by others like this one. Such a stylish solo player in guitar. And gee, if I may so, "Mrs. Recklezz," you're lookin' real pretty today.

I always thought this was a Pet Shop Boys' song when I was a kid and didn't realize it was a cover until years later. While I do prefer the PSB cover, I have to tip my hat to the original for the blueprint. If you ever get the chance, you should check it out. Very different spin on this song.
