    I followed your video to replace the module. Very easy to do and very clear instructions. The reason I had problems with the passenger seat doing just that not returning forward was as a result of releasing the seat to access the rear seats for my grandchildren to get in. I had it reprogrammed but it happened again so I resorted to watching your CZcams video and found it very helpful. Thank you Found the part through Jaguar Autoserve online spoke to them who in turn were very helpful. Thank you.

    Indeed, I used the SDD v130 JLR software with a Mongoose, and recalibrating the seats was easy. TIP - make sure that you connect a capable power supply (30A 13-14v) to the battery terminals as you DO NOT WANT the battery to deplete in the middle of this process, and the SDD soaks up power!

    Same thing happened on my '07: seatback was at an uncomfortable angle, and couldn't be adjusted. I tried a brute force method by removing the seat entirely, and by using a robust 12v supply, ran the seatback motor to a better angle by going directly across the motor in the seat. (The electrical diagram is available on one of the Jaguar Forums). Reinstalled seat and all was well. After some time, I wondered if the switch adjusters now had any effect. Tried and got full range of adjustments. So am wondering if module "fixed" itself by being "rebooted" (powered-down/up) or relearned itself by my brute-forcing the motor. Don't care - working now. Worth a try...

      Hi, yes they can be reprogrammed but the same issue arises each time the battery is disconnected which is a problem if a person does not have a programmer. The used modules recommended may well need to be reprogrammed depending on their history but that would be only once then the battery can be disconnected without issue. Thank you for the feedback.

      Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback. If the seat is not to far forward you can usually access the bolts with an L shaped ring spanner, otherwise remove the rear bolts lift the back of the seat up and wind the seat back manually.

      @@crystalclearmechanics The Jag Service Manual says there is a fly lead behind the seat valance that can be used to connect a power source directly to the seat slide motor (assuming the module is faulty and the motor still functional), and gain access to the fixings. @crystalclearmechanics  Před rokem

      Hi, thank you for watching and for your feedback. Disconnecting the battery on the XKR 2009 does not normally cause a problem with the seat as the seat module has been upgraded since 2008. If you are sure that the problem with your seat is due to the battery disconnection then a module reprogram will cure it. It does not take long but most places will charge for an hour. What are the symptoms with the seat and is it just the 1 seat?

    I have a 2015 XKR, was reading one of your comments, and you stated they did an upgrade after 2008. I wonder why mine is doing it, which means a newer module might not fix it permanently either? Have disconnected the battery a few times for different things, and this never happened before, it's just the drivers seat that currently won't go back up. Are the modules interchangeable between seats so I could at least do a process of elimination? Thanks for the vid, at least I know where to start!

    • @crystalclearmechanics
      @crystalclearmechanics  Před rokem +1

      Hi, Thank you for watching and for your feedback. The battery disconnection on the 2006-2007 cars affect both seats and is an inherent problem with the seat modules ( they are 10 way ). Without inspection I don't know why your car has that issue, all modules can lose their programming because of various reasons. Yes the modules are interchangeable but I would advise, leave well enough alone and get the seat reprogrammed ( about £35-£55 depending on where you go, main agent would be more I expect ). I suspect it was probably just a glitch.

    • @Beemernow
      @Beemernow Před rokem +1

      @Crystal Clear Mechanics would love to get it re-programmed, but, I called the dealership near me, told them the problem, and they said they can't be reprogrammed, that's it probably a defective seat or wiring problem . Figured this is just BS (as I've seen plenty of posts saying they can be recalibrated) to get me to bring the car in so they can charge me for whatever. Being it's the only JAG dealership within states of me, I'm stuck trying to figure it out myself. I noticed the modules were different pn's, so I was afraid to swap them, found one online that matches the driver's side, so I hope that fixes it. Thanks for your reply!

    • @Beemernow
      @Beemernow Před rokem +1

      Thought I would update you for the heck of it. Bought another module, and it did the same thing. The seat also wouldn't come all the way forward, so, I had to jump the seat motor and move the seat all the way forward, then I had to take out the spline shaft to the seat back motor and manually wind both sides till it was all the way forward. It's a serious pain in the arse just to disassemble the seat! But she works perfectly now 😆

      @@Beemernow Hi, Check out Autologic diagnostics ( they have an assist for shops ), any good independent garage that has one can log into the Jaguar system and reprogramme the modules, If they don't already subscibe to Jaguar's then they can pay a small fee for a one off connection. There are other affordable diagnostic / reprogrammable tools home mechanics can buy such as the mongoose ( about £200 ? ) the chinese do a copy called a Mangoose which is about £50 but that could be risky. Check them out online and read the feedback, Hope your issue stays cured.

    • @crystalclearmechanics
      @crystalclearmechanics  Před rokem

      Hi, thank you for your feedback/reply. It's a glitch built into the seat module from new, unique to the 2006/07 ( as far as I know at this moment ) models, they can be reprogrammed at a cost but the next time the battery is disconnected the same issue will occur. The module upgrade I recommended will permanently cure the problem but as always with a used part ( how the module was disconnected, did it come from a crashed vehicle ect ) problem's can surface initially leading to a need to reprogramme that module to cure an issue but this would be a one time only event. These modules on E-Bay sell at different prices, I pay £20 each for them, they are not sided. Just as a matter of interest the 2013-2015 inclusive 2.2 XF jaguar ( module ) loses the central locking when the battery is disconnected, this needs a reprogramme to reset. This also seems to be a manufacture problem.

    I live in the US and I have a 2007 XKR. My passenger seat works okay but it will not lower as much as the drivers seat resulting in less headroom for the passenger. Would the module cause that sort of issue? The Jag dealer says I need to replace the entire under seat frame assembly. $3,000 is the cost.

    • @crystalclearmechanics
      @crystalclearmechanics  Před rokem

      Hi William, thanks for watching the video. I would not rule the module out but it seems unlikely as the seat goes through it's normal functions apart from not reducing it's height fully ( I assume it goes up and down ) To reprogramme both the seat modules over here cost's £35 so not a lot if you want to rule it out, also it will show if they are faulty. I can try and help / advise remotely if you can give me the history, ie, what reason did the Jag dealer give to warrant a $3,000 replacement, what has been checked up to now ect. Many thanks again.

      @williamlowish1781 Před rokem

      @@crystalclearmechanics thank you for the response. The seat functions properly except not lowering as much as the drivers seat. I will look into reprogramming. Your video also gives me confidence to remove the seat and look for an obstruction or some physical problem that prevents the seat from lowering all the way. The dealer seems to want to take the easy and most expensive way to solve a problem. I have an adaptive headlight warning light on and I was told the entire assembly needed to replaced as opposed to simply replacing the control module which is what SNG Barrett says is the usual problem. Thank you.

    • @crystalclearmechanics
      @crystalclearmechanics  Před rokem +2

      @@williamlowish1781 Hi William, There is very little room under the seat so it could well be an obstruction, I have found many things under the seats. If you remove the seat as my video shows without disconnecting the electrical plugs by turning it on it's side to inspect, you will also be able to operate the controls to lower the seat and check it's up and down function without risk of losing other functions. thanks.
