  • I used my CTEK Trickle Charger to show how to set up your 2007 to 2015 Jaguar XK to accept the positive and negative terminals and hook up your trickle charger. Also, showed how to quickly jump start your Jaguar XK if needed.

    Thought you might be amused by this as I was...Earlier this year I contacted AAA when my battery was still dead after having it on the trickle charger overnight. Showed him where the battery is located as well as this side compartment. But he insisted on popping the hood and spent 10 minutes hunting for the battery under the hood because he didn't believe me...

      Thanks for the comment! That's funny. If they'd only watched the video. Thanks a lot for sharing your story! Much appreciated. Hopefully you got a working battery.

    Very helpful video - thanks for posting. For non-mechanics, can you provide any tips/advice/cautions for performing the actual connection of the CTek eyelets? Also, do you know what size of bolts are or if CTek part #56-382 (“Comfort Indicator Eyelet”) would fit? Thanks.

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  Před 5 měsíci

      The eyelets from the CTek part #56-382 look the same as the one's I used. I screwed the bolts on with my drill (please don't over tighten) as you may break the screw that's secured to the frame. I don't remember the bolt size and have since sold my 2008 Jaguar XK. Best of luck to you! I think you'll be fine adding the eyelets!

    You can make one for your active car lightern

      Yes, I believe there is a way to trickle charge via the cigarette lighter. Thanks!

    Wow - didn't know all of the Jags had these - so why hasn't anyone else done this easy jump start information???

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the comment. Yes, it's an interesting set-up. The jump start using the tailpipe as the ground is probably not an ideal situation, but I did it once at the upholstery shop when the car's lights were left on all day and the battery died. My guess is its not an intended way to jump start the car, but it works. If there's a more professional way to jump start the Jaguar, I don't know what it would be.

      I am seriously considering getting a 2007-2009 XK. My husband is against it, citing maintenance expense. Can you offer any insight, that might help me sway him? Thanks!

    Question. Would it be possible to ‘permanently’ attach connections to the positive and negative terminals behind the cover, that are insulated at the terminations until use, which are then fed out into the boot (trunk in the US)? It would make using my tyre compressor easy and also would be simpler to access for jump starting. I’m no electrician so am happy to be shot down if the idea is ludicrously stupid.

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  Před rokem

      Yes, you could use eyelet connectors on the terminals of the battery. I believe it would work.

    Do you know what size fuse and its location for the the positive connection you have shown and my ctek is the large 10amp and will blow a 5 amp fuse. ??? Thanks

      Thanks for the comment. I no longer own the 2008 Jaguar XK, but I do have the User and Service Manual in .pdf. The service manual states: Battery Junction Box (BJB) - Mounted on the Left Hand side of the battery is the BJB (this is the battery behind the passenger seats). The BJB contains 3 megafuses delivering battery
      power to; the starter motor (400A); the auxiliary junction box (175A) and the Central Junction Box (CJB) (175A). For more information, refer to the Electrical Guide. The CJB receives electrical power from the BJB via a 175A megafuse. A second power supply lead 'daisy chains' off the CJB, providing electrical power to the power distribution box. For more information on the circuits and systems served by the CJB, refer to the Electrical Guide. It also states if the battery isn't charging, check Fuse 5 in the Rear Junction Box (RJB) which I believe is in the rear seat compartment. Fuse 5 is the Alternator Sense fuse. I found that here: www.jaghelp.com/2015/02/jaguar-xk-fuse-location-and-id.html
      Hope this helps.

    If you leave it as shown the boot light will be on ?!

    • @GrayTrend
      @GrayTrend  Před rokem

      Thanks for the comment! Yes, if you leave the trunk/boot open the the light will remain on. I was able to completely close the trunk/boot as the trickle charger wires would press into the surrounding weather stripping and allow the trunk/boot to close and lock. That’s the way I did it. Im sure there are other ways to attach the trickle charger.

      @@GrayTrend thanks for your reply. I just wasn't sure if you'd left it as seen in the video. Also thought afterwards that might turn off automatically after a period. My problem is the car is outdoors and not found a good way to connect up from "other end"

    • @GrayTrend

      @@colinhutchinson5282 Yes, that's a tough one. I've seen people use extension cords from their garage to their cars in single family home neighborhoods, but you always have to worry about something or someone messing with your connection. Best of luck to you! I did love owning that car!
