    I picked up a tin of this wax with my new leather winter boots. I wasn't sure how much I needed to put on so this video was really helpful, thank you!

    Thanks Mate. Worked real good; nearly used the whole tin on my Ariats, as they were dry.

    Apply dubbing with your fingers after every hike don't worry if they're a damp or muddy (knock the big bits off mud if you wish) and that'll see you through. Washing and drying with a hairdryer is an unnecessary waste of beer drinking time..

      Washing is for sure necessary and he isn't drying them with the hair dryer he is heating the leather to open the pores, allowing the dubbing to absorb better and also making the wax spread easier.

    Don't heat the boots with a hair dryer this is no good for the leather but you can heat the dubbin wax and apply to boots that have been kept in in a warm environment.

    I applied dubbin to a pair of new out of the box wig tip dress boots but the toe of one is now darker than the other, is there anything I can do to lighten the boot

      Carry a torch and shine it on the darker boot
      You're welcome

      No, that's just what dubbin does unfortunately. It soaks into the leather and darkens it, like how a wet shirt is darker

    I love Dubbin and I've used it for years. Nothing better in my books. What about faux leather? I have a pair of fashion boots that are not leather, not nubuck, not suede. Can I use Dubbin on them?

      hi, just wanted to ask how many times do you clean your boots with dubbin? like once a week or?

    • @colettemcbeath3477
      @colettemcbeath3477 Před 2 lety +2

      @@aldisnutz I never use it for cleaning. Just to protect them from snow and rain and keep the leather healthy. Long winters up north... if your feet started to feel damp.. then it was time to apply the Dubbin again and let it soak in overnight so that you could wear them the next morning. If the temperature was -10 Celsius or anything lower than that... then we rarely used the Dubbin. But if the temperature was hovering around the freezing mark, then we had to use it whenever your feet felt damp. If you are working outside all day in that "warm" weather, then you might have to dry out your boots and then reapply the Dubbin every couple of nights.

      @@colettemcbeath3477 If you start to feel damp it usually means the waterproof membrane has become damaged and it's time for a new pair, applying dubbin depends on usage, every week/couple of weeks for constant use or monthly if you only wear them say on the weekends. Like you say it should never be used for cleaning, only used for protecting clean leather.

    It's been decades since I put dubin on boots. Bought hiking boots and applied it earlier, then suddenly thought..."Did I do that right letting it dry for an hour?" 😮 Thankfully, I did. 😅
