I'm an operations manager for a FXG contractor, backing into a driveway is an absolute LAST resort and only in rural areas where the residences are a considerable distance from the road. No way in hell I'd let a driver back into a driveway in an urban setting.
Same here .. by the time I got back to the station I was shaking like a little betch! They didn't explain double parking, where I could and could and could not park..
U never enter residential driveways unless they are very long. I remember working at ups and a coworker lightly drove on a lawn and had to come back to the house and fix the lawn. No B S
Sounds like the homeowner was a total prick, if a UPS driver accidentally drove on my lawn I wouldn't care honestly. I wouldn't ever be a jerk to those in the service industry, I know how it is.
First off....don't drive on residential driveways. Secondly, don't park head first in parking spots, that only heightens the chance of a backing accident..AND USE YOUR HORN WHEN BACKING ANYWHERE! SMH
Probably should be teaching not to drive in driveways like that in the first place. No hazards, no horn. I also always train a driver that if they are going to park in a parking spot to take up 2 spots so nobody tries to park next to the van making it difficult to back out.
@Me Sm I'm asking why as well. And I don't need an answer because I already know what you're gonna say. But if you can't back out just as easy as driving forward, then you shouldn't be working for FedEx. Most vehicles have backup cameras and regardless if you're driving backward or forward, you have the ability to look to your left and right along with the rear view wide-angled mirrors. It's EASY to backup. I guess most people are just dumb and can't do it though... Sucks for them! LOL!
Why not teach him that it takes a lot less time and is safer to curbside park and deliver then back (or even worse , nose in) into a customers driveway?
because he was showing the trainee that he could turn around using a drive way if necessary. Sometimes you don't have enough space on narrow roads or dead end streets.
Lmao. Misclassification! So the ground division all works under the same routine. Sounds like FedEx Ground workers are employees being misclassified as independent contractors. LMFAO!
for those who says not to pull on driveway...sometimes "no outlet" street has only one option to pull on driveway...you cannot jump your vehicle like in a hollywood movie.
Cringe! Never park in a crowded shopping center like you're in a passenger vehicle. Or never pull into a driveway like you're pulling into your house. If you're heavily loaded up you can damage pavers so its best to not even get in the habit.
They're independent contractors. Who is FedEx to tell them how to drive THEIR vehicles? Call FedEx on the phone and tell them to stfu and stop misclassifying the workers.
Yes, if necessary. Not something to make habitual as it can cause property damage. However, it is not acceptable to drive nose first into a driveway, for obvious safety reasons. Backing into a driveway is bad enough, backing into a roadway increases risk to you and others significantly.
Why in the blue hell is he parked INSIDE the driveway? He could of just parked on the curb, got out, walked a little and delivered the package..... Is this the power of Fed-Ex?
