I hope the show goes deeper into Iris' connection to the speed force as well. Though she never becomes a speedster in the comics, her relationship with Barry gives her the SF which protects her and keeps her young looking like Barry.

Speedsters rely on lightning rods to keep their identities no matter how far they time travel and helps them find their way back home if they get trapped in the speed force. Poor Bart never got that connection and needed up trapped for a long time. Valerie Perez might've been the closest he had but their relationship was too complicated.

Iris didn't make the speed force, she conducts it due to her connection to Barry. Also she was already his lightning rod since season 1. Hugging her was what jumpstarted his powers in the first episode.
