  • Hello everybody, this is an exclusive video tutorial of How to setup NAS for Mi Home Security Camera 360 / Basic 1080p. A NAS or Network Attached Storage is usually connected to the security cameras so that the camera can record and store a significantly larger number of video footage or files. However, a ready-made NAS can be costly for simple home CCTV setups. So, I have shown you how you can use any PC/Laptop/Mac/Raspberry Pi as NAS by just sharing a folder in the network and with a few other easy settings. Any internal or external hard disk can be used to store your Security Camera videos, specially IP camera videos.
I have used the internal HDD in my laptop to show the demo but you can even use an external hard drive as well.

Hi! Thanks for this video. I had my Xiaomi cameras working before on my Linux NAS, Now on a new server I totally forgot about the SMB1.0 requirement :D / For anyone working on a linux box, here's what you need to add on your smb.conf file on the "global" section:
    client min protocol = NT1
    ntlm auth = ntlmv1-permitted
    server min protocol = NT1
Restart smbd.service and boom! working like a charm!

If we put an USB stick on the router, the step with Windows account/sharing is not necessary, no? Then we can just set up the NAS from the Mi Home app? Also, it doesn't come with any kind of cloud storage for motion detected videos?
