I have a 96 SC400.. beautiful machine! I've carefully removed 500 lbs from the car, while retaining the luxury features (all but the heavy factory seats). Answer to your question is difficult; you may want to keep it completely in tack and original. These cars are capable of becoming a extremely well mannered and predictable sports car vs. GT cruiser, but you'll have to lose some weight, dump all the emissions, lower and tighten up the suspension, add supraTT sway bars, solid diff bushings/rear subframe mounts, battery relocation and the list goes on..headers and intake will net 20-25 HP. Anyway, the SC is a treasure no matter how you approach it. Congrats on purchasing one of the finest sport GT coupes ever produced w/ likely the best Japanese manufactued V8!

If you turbo the car, then relocate battery to passenger side(trunk), delete A/C (unfortunately), delete hydro fan(electric fan), flip exaust manifolds, locating turbo directly in front of radiator and downpipe passengers side. I've not actually done the build, but I have researched...this seems to be the best and most cost efficient method (single turbo)

Is a 2uz with a low (7-8psi) supercharger on it safe to do? Or would you not risk it and only use the 1uz?

I've heard the 2 uz just doesn't like much boost and Toyota discontinued the supercharger option. I believe it was consitant rod failers? I'm hearing from my research, that the gen2(95-97) 1uz can handle up to 500 crank HP or 6-8psi reliably, while the Gen1 UZ 89-early 94(larger rods) can handle over 800 hp reliably. This is aquired information from several sources, including a New Zealand manufacturer of superchargers. Sorry, I'm unable to offer more information on the 2uz. It's basically a truck motor(towing): for lower rpm, high torque applications whereas, the 1UZ was designed as a GT 500 racing engine. Toyota simply derated the unit w/lower compression pistons and a mild ECU program for a targeted luxury market product line, which would out perform and outlast the established competition . Remember, Lexus was a brand new company and had to make an impression. They actually, we're giving an unlimited budget with the LS400 r&d and literally created a small community of the best workers, designers and engineers, during the development of the LS 400. This is why the 1uz's are able to last up to a million+ miles..they were literally overbuilt due to their original intended purpose. I'm not sure why the 1uz never saw it true purpose, I believe that, Toyota (TRD) pulled out of the racing scene for several years?

I guess I'll have to build my Lexus gx470 2uz motor with forged internals, before boosting 🤔

@@raould860 where are you located?? I hope you don't mind if I asked🤔. I'm trying to break away from the usually over landing builds for the gx470s, they are extremely capable trucks, but extremely underpowered compared to others. I do know they are offered overseas in some countries, as turbo diesels, but get the watered down versions here in the states 😒. A twin turbo setup would definitely break necks, mine included 😂😂😂😂

Can you point me in the direction of anyone with plans/specs for 1uz turbo build? Recently purchased one and am eager to boost the v8. Looking for about 500hp. Looking to keep a/c and power steering

Im thinking of going a similar route now but with a little less power and a power steering pump delete.
