I’ve thought about this one a few times. Once quite recently in fact. As much as I would like one, as a novelty, I don’t think I can justify getting one. I just can’t see it being useful for my needs……Which means I’ll probably end up getting one when I’m ordering something else one day. 😀

I batoned with mine. Beat it through a 6 centimeter log. It took it like a pro. Used the blade to start the split then pummeled the handle through the log. I use it as my hard use knife ever since. Never failed me.

I'm a huge fan of this brand.
I realize that there are certain manufacturing costs, regardless of the size of the blade and cost of materials, etc. but I'm wondering if this thing could be cheaper because it IS basically made out of off-cuts... Last time I looked, this was almost as much as their other blades - only a few bucks less than their nearest priced knife. That just doesn't make sense to me.
I wonder if it would be worthwhile for them to lower the price and offer this as an add-on 'accessory' or incentive to other more expensive knives or gear...
Imagine buying a Skrama 210 or 240 and getting this tossed in (as a slightly higher cost option).
Maybe even make a modular type sheath system (similar to what they do for their 80 series knives now).
Or perhaps it might make sense for them to make it part of a package deal - buy a skrama, puukko, little puukko and get this tossed in.
I dunno. Is this a stand alone product at the price it's at? Because it seems like they're trying to sell it alongside of other much more capable blades at comparable (given its origin and size) prices. That just doesn't make sense. I just don't know if anyone really needs this tiny knife that badly other than for a novelty.
As serious as some folks try to be about this knife, I just don't think it's worth what they're charging.
Mark, I enjoy your channel. I particularly enjoy the diy and general bushcrafty stuff. I think those kind of videos are awesome and less common (and therefore more valuable) than the standard gear/flashlight/knife reviews out there!

As a knot guy, for light rope/cordage, (and also use as a ferro rod scraper), rather than pull out a Skrama for those light tasks, as examples, I'm with ya, I'd love it as a piggy back add on for a coupla bucks more, rather than the stand alone price, and yes especially for what is simply an off cut to start with.
One could easily knock up one in a scrap of mild steel, and certainly mess around with the HT in a domestic oven, however.... by the time you do that, + sheath it, likely this one, (in 80Cr), will be on your doorstep anyway.
Bottom line IMO, and indeed the old story, a big knife can do anything a small knife can do, ..... the other way round ...... not so much, .... so I see it as a small luxury, as opposed to a must have.
And yep, I reckon Mark does a fantastic job across the board too. Cheers Duke.

I have two of them. I have a kydex sheath made for one of them. The other I'm planing to cut the handle a bit to make it smaller and easier to pack. I had to get it since I have all the other knives from varusteleka, but it turned out to be a very practical blade.👍

Im surprised they didn't predrill 2 holes, its pretty much a blank... i put scales on mine and it made it so much more comfortable to work with for extended time.

Being older and using knives for a long time this is a great knife design for a tiny knife. However, it is much like the A.G. Russell Woods Walker I use and still carry. I bought more than 30-years ago. Still sold with a leather or Kydex sheath; it has a POM (Polyacetal) riveted handle made in Japan with AUS8 steel. They cost more now, mine cost $6.95 each I bought six of them and gave three to friends.👍
This knife looks a ton more functional and can buy it with a kydex sheath for $2 more. ❤

I can’t featherstick at all until I brace the end of the piece of wood on something firm to prevent movement. Putting a branch through the lanyard hole might give you the needed leverage to bore holes. The knife tip with the sharpened spine looks like this might make a decent reamer. Damn flies! 🇨🇦

Great review Mark. If you wrap the handle with para chord would it make for a better grip?. I think just the steel w/o a wrap might be too thin for my hands.

I believe you should carry a real knife when you go out in the woods, not necessarily a big knife, but not just a razor blade or pen knife. If i was looking for small light fixed blade this would definitely be on my list.

G'day Mark, didnt think I'd like it to be honest .... but I really do !!!!!. ...... and I'd love to see a piggy back option, (yep with ya, ....kydex or some other polymer) for a Skrama; I wouldn't bother with a puukko, though perhaps some folks would. Incidentally, there used to be a similar thing for the BK-9, ...I think now discontinued ?
Personally, I'd just have to paracord, maybe bankline, or tape wrap it, but still, not bad as is.
Also, I always carry a ferro striker, though I'd make sure of a full length 90 deg spine on this one, and leave the dedicated striker behind.
I do think its a little pricey, but for the capability/convenience, I may well pull the trigger anyway.

Awesome little knife! Would you recommend it over the Mora Eldris? Orrrrr... what is the best budget neck knife/tiny knife here in Canada?

Yeah, Eldris is a bit too fat for actual neck carry. I've recently got a Terava Tiny as well, but for an over-the-shirt neck knife I think I'd prefer the Morakniv Classic with the 3" blade. I just loop a cord through the top of the sheath. The handle will be a little thicker than the Tiny, but much more comfortable, & the blade stock is thinner too. Very lightweight to boot. Per the tiny, I'm thinking if it had some kind of pocket sheath with a clip, it'd definitely see some carry.
I wonder how it compares with the other small knife Varusteleka sells, the Woodsknife Viking.

I see them as quite different. Despite the Eldris being too expensive, it is a nicer knife to hold for most tasks. However, it is not as tough as this knife. Thanks for commenting
