celtics predicament was entirely predictable when rodgers was picked as manager and before a ball was kicked in anger, regardless of recruitment. despite rodgers impressive record , he managed to relegate a Leicester side that probably had the 7th best squad in the epl .
the only reason why the narrative about Celtics recruits this season , who are mainly ange recruits , is what it is , has all to do with rodgers , because it must be asked , would these question marks exist had ange been in charge this season, and getting more upside from these players.
based on rodgers final season Leicester performance data, my analysis indicated that celtic would have 4 losses and 7 draws this season and the league line ball. celtic are currently 3 and 5, and going by the dundee performance my algorithm still has a chance .
celtic got lucky, and the deflections went their way , but had dundee been better at the far post , dundee win.
celtic allowed dundee to make 39 passes into the final third , a number unheard of in angeball , and if that happens against hearts , they will have shankland on the end of that , and trouble for celtic .
how hard and high hearts press and man mark the mids and fb's will be key . besides defending the far post , celtic inability to deal with the press, has been the hallmark of their season. celtic have to increase the intensity of their press on hearts ball , because getting into a tit for tat transition game with them will make life tricky .
its going to be fascinating to see what kind of defensive split hearts run , and whether they will copy aberdeen and show complete contempt for celtics attack and defend with six in transition

That 39 passes into the final third is staggering.
The midfield was overpowered after 20-25 minutes and that didn't change until Iwata and Idah came on.

Good stuff. Yes Dundee being crap at the back post was a vital element of that game. A lot to read for most people in 2024 when no-one reads anything. If only there was another way you could present your ideas and we could toss them back and forth.... 🤔😄
