Mike Flanagan did it again! For the fourth time in five years, we've received yet another Netflix horror mini-series directed by Mike Flanagan. Following the incredible "Haunting of Hill House" and "Midnight Mass", "The Fall of the House of Usher" has a lot of strengths, and notable weaknesses. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Poe never fails to entertain!
I'm Will, Howdy Howdy Howdy
thank you for the generous comment
It's a lot better the more you know, Poe.
Mike Flanagan did it again!
that was almost the title of the video
@@gavint360 Yous and mes, we's the sameses!
Wait what?? Somehow, it IS the title now!
@gavintrout Thanks for the notice, captain obvious.
Don’t forget about The Midnight Club! That show is definitely different in tone since it’s more of a teen drama with horror elements but it was still a great show and featured Heather Langenkamp from Nightmare on Elm Street. Fall of the House of Usher is Mike Flanagan’s fifth Netflix show.
THERE’S A FIFTH SHOW???
The show is so beautifully done, all of the character's names reference Poe characters, they reflect the core of the stories, and I feel like the show just did so well in transforming Poe's work into something that's much more relevant to us now.
Great video though :) Luke Skywalker joke really made me laugh more than it should've
Outside of Lenore and Annabel Lee, I had no idea the characters were named after Poe characters! That’s an amazing amount of effort gone into the writing, and makes this show even more special than I gave it credit for!
Thank You so much for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it! :)
@gavint360 Yeah! It's really, really well done, in my opinion :) if you did want some more insight on the Poe works and how they correspond with the characters, storylines, how they die, etc. there's a good video essay by Amanda the Jedi on youtube about the show! I recommend you watch it if you wanna have a bit more appreciation for the show! :))
@@worm7386 I'm on it RIGHT NOW
One thing you missed was that the Raven Lady wasn't the devil. She was actually Death itself. Its actually very obvious if you have read Masque Of The Red Death. In the story Death chases the man throwing the party through the rooms. Just like Death did to Perry
Yeah, that was a slight oversight on my part. Calling her the Devil would be like calling Dracula the Devil: Just because the character is grim and linked to the act of dying doesn't make them Satan.
It would've been easier for me if Verna had said to Roderick: "I'm Death. And I don't mean it metaphorically or rhetorically or poetically or theoretically or any other fancy way. I'm Death, straight up." But alas, I should return to the source material to get as much appreciation out of this show as I can.
I agree with your assessment, and your final ranking. I’m a Poe fan, I’m not familiar with ALL of the stories referenced in the series. But The Fall Of The House of Usher is one of my favorite Poe stories.
I’m glad to see there’s people out there that are actually familiar with the source material. Maybe I WILL come around to reading the story after all, if it’s as good as you say.
