I can't wait for portal desolation to come out tbh
Im from 2003 and i love cartoons from the 1930s-50s
Let me know if you ever want someone to deliver lines for you. I got a good mic and nothing to do.
7:18 Do NOT get the TWD one! I played it and regretted it so much
Lmao I literally started playing it last night and it is BAD
@@gavint360 I hope you got a refund. I only didn't because I got it in a bundle...
I have a bone to pick with bridge constructor portal. It reuses animation from portal 2 for Glados. It makes the poor excuse of a story feel even lazier. I have held this grudge for so long.
Some weeks ago i saw that portal revolution was a thing, i had already played portal 1 and 2, and yet never one of the mods, let me just tell you... I have been on a portal streak, watching videos, playing fangames like crazy, and now i found you
caroline isn't cave's wife. she's his assistant
I really, REALLY liked the voice casting for Revolution. The dialogue felt like it made sense, for the most part…
I also loved Reloaded for how genuine it felt to the aesthetic of the Portal franchise!!
3:05 "But either way, this game is great. It's so delicious and moist"
Bridge constructer could totally exist in the multiverse with the Lab, Hand Lab, Desk Job because it's all the Bendy's who can apparently exist in drawers and other small places, so those are potentially very small bridges.
You forgot the Flash version of Portal that actually impacted the whole community.
I didn’t actually know about that until now! And it’s a real shame I didn’t talk about it too, because that’s a really good story.
@@gavint360 No worries, I'm pretty sure another CZcamsr made a video on it already anyways lol.
@@gavint360 If you want to play it, there's a backup of Portal Flash on Newgrounds. Really fun and I kinda wanna see a remake...
this is to underated
9:12 Btw, valve released a steam link software for the quest 2 and 3 so that you can connect it to your computer pretty easily.
Appreciate the support, now what about the Quest 1?
Aww, so glad you enjoyed my mod!
WOAH, YOU’RE HERE! Portal Revolution was awesome, and if I didn’t say it upright, it was absolutely my favorite of all of them! Man, it’s so cool that you watched my little video! I hope you have a great day!
It was lovely, but the writing fell quite short here and there. Conley for instance adapted way too quickly to being a core. There was a lot of missed opportunity for character development and showing what sort of a dystopian horror Aperture is at its core.
@@lillywho Only so much you can do on this runtime. I'm glad people are curious about conly and want to see more rather than being disinterested. At the end of the day I just wanted to get the mod out after working on this thing for eight years and I'm proud of the final product
@@StefanH Definitely is an achievement, no doubt about it. I was just charmed by her (totally not also in a sapphic way har har) and would have seen a more profound take on the character.
idea for any potential future sequels to Revolution: during the end of Portal 2, GLaDOS notices the chunk of Aperture's facility on the moon, and decides to find a way to bring it back to the rest of Aperture. eventually she finds a way, (presumably another teleporter) and after bringing it back, she finds Conley and [Protagonist], and thus begins the rest of the game. idk if you're planning on ever making a sequel, or if this is already the plan if you are, but these are my two cents and you're welcome to use them (or not) however you wish.
Smartarse footnote: Caroline is not confirmed to be romantically involved with Cave Johnson, though known to be his assistant. And personally, I don't think she is "part" of GLaDOS. She _is_ the AI. The ending where the announcer claims her to be deleted? That's all pretense in order to get Chell to leave while GLaDOS still has control over herself from her liberated state free from the chassis with its built-in urges. Not the AIs themselves are the problem, but the central core chassis as told literally in the story about how it gives you an urge to test and makes you murderously grumpy over time. Wheatly had no idea and was taken by it immediately. GLaDOS was a project in an effort to overtake Black Mesa, to accelerate the "science output", and the chassis is exactly doing what it was designed for. GLaDOS/Caroline is an abuse victim, in both text and aforementioned subtext. She was forced to be turned into GLaDOS, after all.
I was so worried you were gonna skip over Portal Stories: Mel like everyone else does and I'm very glad you didn't. imo it's still the best Portal 2 mod in terms of overall production value. Great video! If I was to nitpick one detail, Aperture Desk Job is about 30 minutes to play through whereas Aperture Hand Lab is about 15 minutes. Also, connecting a Quest to your PC is not difficult, you don't need to 'sign in' to anything. You can either install the Oculus app on your PC, or install SteamVR on your PC and Steam Link on your Oculus headset, and connect that way, if you're really interested in playing the Aperture VR games. Portal Stories: VR isn't very good btw, I would skip it, but the Lab is fun, it's really cool to see GLaDOS in VR in one minigame.
I can’t excuse my laziness with vr lol, and you’re absolutely right about Desk Job! It’s been about a year since I played it so I remembered a much shorter game.
@@gavint360 Completely valid. Ur lucky you have a real copy of Lego Dimensions, it was super hard to set up to emulate cuz it never released digitally, so finding a ROM was next to impossible, but I was able to play through the Portal content at one point
You didn't talk about Aperture Tag or Thinking With TIme Machine cmon
The rabbit hole was too deep, now I see that I’ve only scratched the surface!
I’m surprised you didn’t talk about portal flash or the mod that made portal flash into real levels in portal 1. A bit on the older side being from the portal 1 era they are still worth checking out as fun little experiences.
Only heard of it recently, but I’m certainly intrigued!
the unnamed women in portal revolution is named Kate according to the devs
Oh sweet, thanks for the info!
What about Aperture Tag
I forgor
You missed a very important portal game. The fans made 2D portal flash game that Valve remade the levels from in (i think) the xbox 360 version of portal. Probably available in other versions.
Okay, now THATS cool! I’m gonna go digging for that.
@@gavint360 ah! They were finally rereleased with the companion collection on Nintendo switch! There's also an unofficial port of the maps to pc. Just check the wiki for Portal: Still Alive (confusing i know)
14:12 Caroline was never CONFIRMED to be the wife of Cave, from what i remember that was just a theory.
That’s gonna be my theory, and I’m stubborn enough to believe it since I had no idea it was never actually confirmed lol. What I can’t deny is that she’s married to science!
A PORTAL THEORY, aaaand cut.
Aperture Tag: The Testing Initiative has left the chat. But good video, anyway! 😀👍
I’m gonna have to play that one soon, and since there’s still so much more Portal content under the surface, I might have to do a Part 2 lol
@@gavint360 Okay.
Are you going to do more portal content?
Since there’s still so many games I haven’t talked about, I’ll probably have to make a Part 2, so… potentially!
Great commentary! Underrated as fuck
What about Portal: The Flash Version and Aperture Tag?
Hadn't heard of either before the video, the rabbit-hole is just TOO deep lol
The fact there is a portal multi verse means all fan games are cannon.
subscribed, thank you for feeding my portal hyperfixation
Thank you for the enjoyable video. I like Portal Stories: Mel best out of all the mods with Portal: Revolution coming a close second. There’s also Aperture Tag: The Paint Gun Testing Initiative which is good if you are a fan of the gels. It’s slippy, slidey, bouncy fun. However, I personally did not like the personality core in it or all the toilet humour.
now might as well include the community workshop :D and then by that have a whoniverse connection (doctor who) :D [existing stuff and upcoming stuff]
The rabbit hole never ends...
Cool video I like.
14:13 btw it's pronounced differently
😭 I listen to Want You Gone so much that I should’ve known better, I’m so bad with names
Great video! I just want to say, you missed some big mods, like Rexaura, but the ones you covered are considered the best.
14:50 is my favourite part of the franchise, as GladOS, Wheatly and the title all say relatively the same thing, especially when the steam achievement pops up on a first-time playthrough
another fun fact: the song for this part is also called “this is the part where he kills you”
@@the-sketch2169 of course it is
Absolutely incredible video... Honestly got a bit emotional. It feels hard to share that Love for this game, that enjoyment of these experiences the way you've demonstrated them, Even if, but from a casual perspective, it's still a very heartening one. You seem to know pretty much anything relevant to the game, though I would like to offer more trivia. Wonderful video! The ending made me emotional LOL
You forgot the best mod: Forbidden Testing Tracks. It's so good that it has better reviews than Overwatch 2!
*Looks into it* ... dear god...
It is truly the best mod.
I've never heard of that Mario one, where do I play that?
If you just look up “Mari0” (emphasis on the zero), there should be a playable browser version as one of the first results
@@gavint360 hm, I'll have to check that out!
Question:Did you buy the plush pack, which is 7 dollars? It's a way to support the devs
😏 I’ll look into it!
You mentioned how the potato science project was foreshadowing to potato GLaDOS, I think you’ll find interesting, (because it certainly blew my mind after replaying), how the “I’m different” turrent from the beginning of the game, foreshadows a lot as well, including GLaDOS being pecked by birds. P.S AWSOME VIDEO! You can imagine my surprise when I realize this video only had like 600 views, dude, you’re really cooking with this one. Can’t wait to see future videos.
If it's the turret I'm thinking about, it was halfway through the lemon rant when I moved on lol, but I'm definitely gonna reinvestigate that guy again since you brought it up! P.S. Thank You!!! I'm so happy this video is being received well!
wait, this guy only has 306 subs?? This is 10k subs quality <3
I thought Cave Johnson and Caroline weren't married.
Yeah I’ve been told that by a friend since uploading lol. I really thought they were married but it’s never been directly stated to be the case. She’s married to science!
Technically the whole Portal multiverse is canon, or real(?). All because of the cutscene for that test chamber constructor mode.
And hours of ingame dialog in the perpetual testing initiative, yep. Charriot Charriot.
@@dasirrlicht5415 I wonder how a company on the verge of bankruptcy can explain suddenly obtaining a literally infinite amount (an entire Universe) of money...
It’s funny that Portal had the multiverse before it became a trend
@@lesbarathirdir5178 By buying the officials. And Black Mesa, so they can rename it and stop the Half Life Plot from happening.
Yep, the perpetual testing initiative. How else could we have gotten the tale of 2 caves and the universe made of pure gold?
nice video
>mentions Mari0 but not the portal flash game that came out before portal2 SMH my head good vid tho
Hold up, there’s more!? I need to know more about this!
@@gavint360 It was a flash game so you can only find it on flash game archive projects like Flashpoint but it was literally just titled Portal: The Flash Version It's popular enough that people have been able to speedrun it down to under 6 seconds with glitches czcams.com/video/hbF92as1__g/video.html
@@gavint360 it was a flash game so you will only find it on flash game archive projects like Flashpoint but it's title literally was Portal: The Flash Version (I think youtube deleted my previous comment because I linked a a youtube vid to what it looks like so you'll have to find it yourself :U)
@@gavint360 There's also these Portal mods: Portal Prelude Aperture Tag: Paint Gun testing initiative Thinking with the Time Machine
@toainsully I’m pretty embarrassed to have only just remembered that Portal Prelude exists 😅 As for the others, I’ll have to check them out!
Great mic quality, commentary, and editing! I was surpised to see that this only had 70 views. Keep it up!
I don't see Mike or Sully in the thumbnail. 0/10
