Yes, it will work exactly as you mentioned you can connect both at same time and use it, by default it will connect using earphones but you have to switch it from mobile to use speaker

Well let me clear as I mentioned in the video about default settings I was and I'm able to get 7+ days of battery life, regarding the hang issue it did not hang even once in my usage of 2+ weeks
