  • HUSKY PART NUMBER: HDA70503AV. Replaced the regulator on my 30 gallon Craftsman oilless air compressor. 5hp model. Been meaning to do this for years, but since upgrading to a 60 gallon Husky stationary unit, never got to it. Now, it works great. Still have to replace the drain valve, they go bad from the moisture.

    Thanks. Craig, great video. I’ve had a 33 gal Craftsman for many years and replaced the hissing moisture drain valve on the bottom some time ago. Now the “new” hiss is the regulator. Thanks for the easy fix and the tip on getting a Husky replacement at Home Depot too, always good to save a few bucks.

    I always LIKE on your videos.
    I have the same air compressor.
    I am hoping to fix it when I get some money saved .
    I use tape on connections always.
    I am a disabled vet and sadly money is tight . Thanks to our great president . We have not had a raise since 2009.

    Nice repair Craig!

    Those twins are nice. If its a cast iron unit they can run all day, usually rated for continuous work. Good to have compressed air, so much you can do. This Craftsman is good for a quick job- where I don't have to fill 60 gallons. It fills in just over 4 minutes, not bad for as long as I've had it.

    Thanks a lot Craig! I just got a new regulator for my Craftsman compressor and I was trying to figure out how to get it to spin on the existing pipe without the head hitting the tank! Duh! You've got to take it apart!

    I have had the same problem with mine. I took the regulater apart. Dried it off and lubed up the orings with jacks pool lube. (Doesnt eat up the rubber inthe orings. Works great.

    Verticals are nice, the space is the best part of them and they drain a lot better than these long ones. But I can use ramps and roll this baby right into my Jeep Grand Cherokee with no room to spare! Makes hauling to my buddies cottage when doing work a lot easier.

  • @CraigArndt
    @CraigArndt  Před 12 lety

    Thanks NCR. I use tape as well, only way to insure it won't leak. Only issue with this compressor is the drain, it hisses just a little. Other than that, its a great little compressor- not quiet though.

    Thanks for watching, you're right. I always go checkout the people that leave me ridiculous posts and 99% have no videos of their own, 1-2 subscribers and their activity leads me to think a very low IQ. This compressor always trips my 15amp breaker, especially in the winter. It draws a lot of amps to get it moving in winter. So, I ran a 20 amp just for it, no issues.

    I have the same exact model compressor and the same exact issue , the regulator , the O-ring ,when it is brand new . I disassembled it to check, it's not because of the bad design cause it easy break down , actually was because the disqualify factory worker assembled the O-ring dislocated / bent (out of O-shape) , therefore couldn't seal tight .

    The original Sears regulator part number is AC-0007. $65.00 at Sears parts online. Menard's sells the exact same one for $18.00. Sold under the Powermate brand. P/N 019-0188CT.

    I have noticed that you have the male end attached for the air outlet...actually you need the female end because that holds you pressure..the knob the you were turning on and off is to adjust the air pressure to different tools.

    • @JsGarage
      @JsGarage Před 7 lety

      I was wondering why the male was on the output too. The hose will additional be configured wrong and need two male connections making it more difficult to use as extension or such.

My question is which way do I install the regulator valve? Is the arrow on the regulator valve suppose to point to the pressure switch or point to other way?

  • @BornRaisedInCSA
    @BornRaisedInCSA Před 8 lety

    Any chance you've got that old regulator still? LOL
    I've got the same one, but had a fitting break off inside. Every regulator I've found only has the outlet pressure (such as your Husky one) and not the tank pressure.
    Given that, why did you put the tank pressure gauge on as well and not the provided plug?

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  Před 8 lety

      I know, having two gauges read outlet and no tank pressure stinks... I tossed that regulator long ago unfortunately. Check the Devilbiss website they may have the actual regulator, since they make the compressor for many of these retailers.

    • @BornRaisedInCSA
      @BornRaisedInCSA Před 8 lety +1

      I checked their site... no luck. I ended up chaining together an adjustment valve with tank gauge to a regulator for output pressure. It's not the prettiest... but it does the job.
      It just surprises me that you can buy new tanks with similar function setup, but you can't buy one.

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  Před 2 lety

      Dave, sorry, I put that compressor to the curb years ago and helped the gentleman load it in his Chevy for scrap. That Craftsman 30 gal. compressor lasted 20 years, used it every night for my side business, or home projects and seasonally to blow my sprinkler system out. A leaky regulator is just best to buy a new one, you'd have to find the exact O-Ring that was used.

  • @emmad010662
    @emmad010662 Před 8 lety

    I was wondering if it was just as easy to replace the regulator on a small compressor like a 3 gal.?

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  Před 8 lety

      Yes, I think they all use the same or similar type regulators. This regulator isn't as nice as what came on the compressor, but it was cheaper and Home Depot had it in stock. You should be able to purchase a new regulator, check amazon and ebay, installing isn't difficult, just install with arrows going proper way for air direction.

    • @CraigArndt

    • @CraigArndt
      @CraigArndt  Před 7 lety +1

      The regulator isn't the issue. If you can't go past 20 psi you have either a problem with the piston being worn out or, a problem with the cut out switch. This video is how to replace a leaking regulator valve.
