chipolo one spot is perfect for iphone Xs/Xr and earlier users coz no precision finder. so better go with louder sound of chipolo
One feature that I like is that you can use the Chipolo to help you find your phone by making it ring. Though, I guess if you have an Apple Watch, there’s no need.
It doesn’t seem to work with the Spot though as it is not registrated with the Chipolo App.
The lack of U1 is relatively compensated for with the actually usable speaker and much longer Bluetooth range. The real decision-making factors are the form-factor differences. The Chipolo is much more compact and elegant compared to an AirTag with its required add-on holder. The AirTag with the leather key ring could be good as a primary keychain. The Chipolo is more usable as a durable pet tag. Each has its use case.
you said when anyone with iphone/ipad/mac comes near an airtag it will notify the owner, but does that happen only if the person who is being near has bluetooth on?
Can the chipolo tracker be used as a luggage tracker? Feels like the out of range alert would constantly be going off because while you "know" where your luggage is you do not have access to it for the duration of your check in board and travelling. Seems like it would be constantly chirping the baggage handlers and sending alerts to your phone?

getting the chipolo... cheaper option for just 1 for keys... but airtags also have a cheaper option if you bundle up

Does the chipolo work like an airtag and bounce off other peoples cell phones to find your lost item? Do those people need to have a chipolo app or no?
Doesn't the crowd finding feature only work if the crowd has the option turned on in their phone? Pretty sure mine was off by default and I left it off because I didn't want it draining my battery.

Hi, will the potential thief see that there is a chipolo with him as with an air tag? who after some time sends a notification to the iPhone that there is another AirTag with it?

I just got a AirTag after using Chipolos for the past few years and the things I’ve noticed almost immediately is that I can’t use an AirTag to find my iphone by pressing it like I can with a Chipolo. Also the AirTag is entirely too quiet for me to hear if I were say downstairs and had left my item in a draw or a pile of clothes upstairs (which is something I carelessly do often). The precision location on AirTag is more hassle then it’s worth. If it was loud enough in the first place I wouldn’t bother using it. I will probably return the AirTags and replace the battery’s in my Chipolo. I also didn’t know I could integrate it with the find my app which renders the AirTag useless to me.
Apparently, you can’t use the Chipolo One Spot to find your phone either.
Another review says that feature is only in the basic Chipolo One.
I think you have just convinced me :) I'll use one for my keys and the other one goes under the saddle of my MTB bike.

Can the speaker be disabled?
I have a guitar I'd like to protect from theft. If it gets stolen I'd like to follow the app and knock on the door of the thief. But don't both chips automatically beep when the item is far from me? A thief would just look for the chip and destroy it or throw it in a ditch far away. Does there exist a chip for inside my acoustic guitar that will not let thieves know its there?

I’m a little worried that apple will block the access of chipolo to find my, kind of like they killed google maps early on, and block other apps from root access. Would be a bummer to go with Chipolo and then have it bricked!
Not gonna happen, they gave them access because they want to use it as a defense to the lawsuits from Tile.
Chipolo is licensing it, Apple cant do that. There is a difference because Chipolo is a customer, not a business partner like Google is.

I think they’re referring to location sharing. This disappeared for a time on Google Maps but then came back.
Apple has official support for third party items in find my. But ya I don’t trust them either to not nerf them in some way in the future. The EU seems to be the only thing setting the bar for Apple on those kind of anti competitive things

AirTags do, via FindMy notifications.

The number one reason I got this was because AirTags will go into lost mode if not near an iPhone over 3 days. Chipolo One Spot does not do this, so I can use it with my Android device and gain the massive benefit of the Find My network
Are you sure about that? I thought these worked the same as Airtags?

@@YogiTheBearMan No it works with Android, idk if they've updated since but the ones I've ordered 2y ago work on my Samsung and dont send any notifications alerts to iOS users. I heard about that and blocked any updates for this reason. Either I got lucky or your statement isnt true. I confirmed with reps at the time of checkout bc it was the ONLY deal breaker.

The Chipolo Spot, yes, otherwise use the Chipolo (for Android).
The BIG difference is that Chipolo do not have the U1 chip for precision finding.
But you're not locked into iPhone. 😊

Can I share my FindMy items with my family? So maybe I put one in my car and anyone in my family can see it, as an option of course.
I have an airtag, want to buy more but a cheaper alternative, do you, like airtags get informed by your phone if you forget/lost an item? Does this feature work for 3rd party products?
Like the chipilo, I use the Walmarts Onn item tracker that uses find my as well, same thing with other devices or AirPods, you can enable notify when left behind or enable lost mode all together.
AirTags are slightly cheaper in boxes of four, if you wanted to hand out a few.
The other chipolos have a feature where if you walk away from it the alarm goes off. Does the one spot have this? Do they airtags have this?

So the one spot is not usable with Android only with the Apple find my eco system ? Is there one that uses both eco systems from chipolo ?
Chipolo announced its newest trackers will work on both. Just finalizing certification from Google

U1 allows the use of your phone to know what direction and how far your AirTag is, by playing hot and cold, and distance and arrow for direction. Keep in mind you need an iPhone 11 or higher to use this feature.

Another youtube production line video that takes forever to get to the point. After watching this right thru, its a real disappointment. It fails to explain if Chipolo compares to Apple Air Tag .
Did we watch the same video? He explained clearly that the product was of great quality for a lower price but you lose out on the benefit of precision tracking and the ability for people to notify you if they found your device. Other than the price what more did you want from it?
