Pat Benatar is living proof that you can be a gigantic Rock Star and be classy at the same time. She belongs in the Rock Hall.
Better late than never. She should have been there 15 years agoâŠ.
why would anyone need that joint for validation
@@maxmirni2768 They don't. That joint needs them for validation
@@wingracer1614 spot on
She was just as naughty as any one else in the 70s. But the fact she was inducted immediately was such a crock, but so is rnrhof
You can really tell that Pat's opera background comes through. A soft yet powerful voice.
I just love Pat so much. Being a teenager in the 80s she was just a huge part of music wether it was radio or Mtv. She is such a strong frontperson in her band and just a stunning example for wormen in rock! đ€
Pat Benatar is such a legend! She belongs in that Hall Of Fame. Just incredible. Thanks for the reaction!
Pat and Neil... rock's true Power Couple.
She's one of the Great singers; he's so underappreciated as a guitarist.
Together they're magic.
100%!!!
I was fortunate to see her in concert in 1980... what a performance that was! Glad to see her still kicking and getting the recognition she so strongly earned.
She is a trained opera singer. Really amazing voice.
Her voice is extraordinary
When the chorus kicked in I got goosebumps. Amazing. This is a classic, like it or not. So good.
Love Pat Benetar! Just saw her 3 days ago. She sang âWe Live for Loveâ and she can still sing in her high register. Check out her cover of Kate Bushâs âWuthering Heights.â Both of these show case her higher soprano range. âHeartbreakerâ is a great straight rock song that showcases her low to high as wellđ
Hubby Neil Giraldo is a killer guitar player and producer and played all the memorable guitar hooks on her records and produced a number of her biggest hits. They have an amazing partnership msuically and in life. Neil also played the memorable guitar solo on Rick Springfield's Jessie's Girl!
You should see her live in concert! She's awesome! One of the best concerts I've seen
Loved this! Hadn't seen this clip before. Lucky enough to see Pat and Neil live in 2016. I was also lucky enough to get Neil to sign my guitar on the day. Was just as nice as every one reports. There is a track called "Don't Walk Away" from 1988 that showcases a little of the soprano vocals. It really illustrates the difference between her early pre-Rock days and how far Pat Benatar has perfected her gritty hard rock power voice. There is also a stunning pre-Rock era cover of Roy Orbison's "Crying" that is the transition from opera to her showtune type vocals. And after all that are her vocals from her 1990 albums which are a whole other level of insane technique and power. There is a lot to cover for just one artist indeed.
One of the all time greats, for sure (along with Ann Wilson of Heart).
I remember when this song came out, I thought she had "sold out" her Rock credentials. But it really is a great song.
She and Neil recently celebrated their 40th anniversary. And she still has a great voice, even though she can't quite reach the high notes as well.
Ann Wilson has an incredible range. Laura Branigan had a terrific range too
Yesssss..this song was EVERYWHERE on the radio where I lived and it was the firs song I remember! Cool! Also, I've never heard this live woah she's good!
My first celebrity crush!! She still looks amazing, and I love that her and Spider have been happily married for so long!
Never heard this version...absolutely smashed it out of the park
1978 was a great year for rock debut albums...Van Halen, The Cars, The Police, Pat Benatar, to name a few!
1979 was Pat's debut.
Love PB she is my most favorite female vocalist â€â€â€
I hadnât seen that before! Thank you. Sheâs amazing.
Thanks for watching Michelle!
Iâm so glad sheâs stayed with Neil all these years. Sheâs an amazing talent, but the two of them complement each other so well, I canât imagine her singing without him. For a duo of performers, theyâre pretty darn perfect.
Still one of my favorite Pat Benatar songs after all these years. Thanks so much for your analysis of this one.
I just saw them in concert last Sunday and they were amazing!
I saw her maybe ten years ago. I think she opened for Heart (can't recall), but she was still phenomenal.
I love every single Pat Banatar song i have ever heard, she is just such a talented singer and songwriter in my opinion. I love your way of explaining technical stuff Beth, in a nice way that people who are not as well known in the technical aspects can understand, without it ever sounding like you are just dumbing it down for us. As always you are such a sweetheart, and always seem to find something positive to say, and i really like that alot. Too many people focus on the negative things, and that is just not pleasant to listen to in my opinion. I have probably said this before, but i will gladly say it again then. I would love a collab between you and the likes of Eliabeth "The Charismatic Voice, Hannah Bayles and Ken Tamplin. Looking forward to your next video, i am sure it will be another great one as usual. :)
Would love to see you react to more PB songs. Saw her in concert in 1981, my first concert ever. I will never forget that experience. Anything from her 1st three albums would be great. "No You Don't", "Promises in the Dark" or "Fire and Ice". The live version of "I Need A Lover" is stellar as well. Love your reactions.
Hi Beth, thank you for doing this video. I was one of many that recommended you choose Pat. She is an amazing singer and with Neil they are amazing songwriters too.
Pretty sure "Shadows of the Night" was the first Pat Benatar song I heard. been a casual fan ever since. She was never that big here in the UK, but did manage a few top 40 hits. Of women in music that managed to open the doors for others, I feel she doesn't get the love and respect she deserves. Glad to see she still has it.
My favorite song from her and too I believe the first for me courteous of MTV
ripping song - my fave of hers too
Whoooaaa...goosebumps! Loved Pat Benatar from the first moment I heard her. If you _really_ want a treat, track down her Painted Desert song...
I love the fact that they used this song in Deadpool
And you should react to Lovely Day by Bill Withers. He has this note he holds for about 8 seconds multiple times, then he holds it for about 18 seconds without running out of breath
Oh young lady !!! She has soo many more tunes . Try Don't Walk Away , Wuthering Heights , Don't let it show , those tunes bring out her vocal range , also Rated X
I think the soprano choir was just the best and most practical way to emulate the boys choir in the original recording without using an actual boys choir, which might have been hard to come by for whatever occasion this was. I always felt that that choir added a layer of innocence to the song that stood as a kind of symbol for "lost youth" or rather the place that "there's no turning back" to.
The Rock Godess!
Pat's "You better run" was the second video ever played on MTV. She STILL rocks!!!
Hall of fame well deserved!
Wow, such a great performance! It brought back so many memories. Thanks for your reaction Beth. She is such an under appreciated talent these days.
My pleasure!!
Love the studio ; love Pat Benatar đđđđđđyou lol đ
She could hammer some heavy metal !! Teach her to growl
When are you going to cover a Jinjer song ???
She was on Joan rivers talk show in 91 I think and she asked her to sing a high note ⊠and she hit it
Shame we don't hear much of her anymore - i remember in the 80s she was megga !
Love her!
My favorite Pat Benetar song.
She is so beautiful, she has lesser known songs that take you on a journey with her raspy voice, but boy she can hit some notes
Love this song.
Neil 'Spyder' Geraldo: probably the best rock guitarist most people have never heard of. A real "guitarist's guitarist".
love
Roar!
Pat is one of the best singers in rock history. She studied opera singing, but then decided to become a rock singer. And she long deserves to get listed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Shadows of the Night (a Helen Schneider cover) and Invincible are great songs.

LOVE THE NEW CHANNEL! So cool that you take challenges but theyâre all sorts of non singing things. Very cool!
Have you ever done Linda Ronstadt or Ann Wilson? Btw, youâre a beautiful young woman inside and out.
I would love to be a fly on the wall at their home the next time they decide to ad lib this.
Great! Greetings from Austria!đđ
I always enjoy your reactions and analysis, and this one is no exception. And I have a recommendation for you: a husband and wife duo The War and Treaty. They are among the soulful singers I've ever heard. A good place to start is a homemade video they did of them singing "Shallow" from A Star is Born. Also, their version of Merry Christmas Baby is a monument to dynamics and expressiveness.
That was very beautiful Beth pat is such a very awesome me and a lady friend love her music
Kisses from Brazil. Love it
Beth it really would be interesting to see you react to Promises in the Dark.
Nice and best reaction âŁïžâŁïž
Her beginning: Pat saw someone solo performing live and it inspired her to go solo - the singer was Liza ( for the kids I have to add: Minnelli ). I remember when she broke out with "Heartbreaker" - it was WOW a rock singer who has serious vocal talent.
Rock N ROLL Romero and Juliette. â€.
Great song. Could you do a Hothouse Flowers reaction video. They were a very popular rock band that came out of Ireland in the 80's. Some of their best songs were I'm Sorry, Give it up, I can See Clearly Now (a cover song) and Don't Go. Their music is incredibly upbeat. Every time I listen to their songs, I can't help but smile.
It's about time Pat was inducted into the hall of fame. There are so many less accomplished and less talented artists that got in before her. My friend and I visited the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame a couple years ago. We kept wondering aloud-maybe a little too loudly-as we walked through the exhibits, why Pat wasn't part of it yet.
Pat is a Chevy Big block with a blower, the amount of power she generates
Me encanta tus reacciones y la manera en que explicas todo tan detalladamente, eres fascinante, eres tan bella â€ïž
De acuerdo
your red hair is AWESOME! I was a red-head once...and i say you have that PERFECT "red" like I had...Bleach Strawberry Blonde in the summer and auburn in the wintery months...excellent...it's a GIFT...AND A...CURSE. I know first-hand.
This song was covered in the show One Tree Hill
Thanks Beth for reviewing a Pat Benatar song :-)
Amazing! thank you, and who was that in the video.. Maria Callas? something from Tosca maybe..
my favorite was the tribute when she just sang "shooting star" . its hard to find. the harry chapin tribute. if you will
What's most impressive about this one is that it's actually way past her prime. This is maybe from the 2010s?
Her first appearance on American Bandstand is well worth viewing. 1980. I think.
ANYTHING from Seven The Hard Way or True Love...both outstanding albums!!!!
Hey Beth, youâre very pretty. Enjoy your day. Love the reviews
Hello Beth. If you want to hear the soprano side of Pat Benatar's voice I recommend you listen to her sing "Don't Let it Show" and Wuthering Heights.
Pat's song HELL IS FOR CHILDREN is powerful
She has amazing ability to control her vocals thanks to her training. Thinks she's has lost some of the ultra high notes over last 30 years. Use of the soprano choir is a lovely homage to her opera training
đâ€đ
listen to her version of Wuthering Heights.....lots of her upper range
Her husband did the guitar work on Rick Springfield Jesse's Girl.
Wow, she sounded really good in this performance... I saw her years ago, It was good, but I dont remember it sounding that good... Lol... Maybe the mix?
Have you reacted to Petula Clark? Sheâs a great singer from the 60âs.
Speaking of couples, try The Civil Wars, ''Barton Hollow'
Listen to "Invincible" by Pat
Former opera singer
I'll be honest, I kinda like the original sound of the studio recording better, with the childrens choir
You should do a reaction to The Beatles song Because
Can you do Mariah Carey Vision of Love live on Good Morning America from 1990?
if no one mentioned it ...SHE MARRIED HIM...the guitar player and she...fell in love...and they ARE STILL MAKING MUSIC TOGETHER!!!! THAT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING ABOUT THEM...and people think HEART is better than PAT...BUT....I say PAT'S lyrics PUSH her ahead....ANNE and NANCY Wilson are great...but, PAT Benatar had THE WORDS...BAR-NONE
Beth, thank you for this reaction.
May I suggest you return to the Japanese female metal band, Lovebites. You were speechless after SwanSong, and you will also be after this song. It includes heavy riffs, great guitar solos and harmonization, ballet dance, piano, acoustic guitar and, of course, a great voice!

Saludos desde PerĂș, por favor podrias reaccionar a "Thievery Corporation - Lebanese Blonde "
shooting star. pat benatar
harry chapin tribute
you are missing an amazing performance. shooting star on the harry chapin tribute was sublime. the video sucks, but its worth it
Can you react to her version of Kate Bushâs âWuthering Heightsâ....please! đđ»đ
Beth Please React to the New Song Of Slipknot its so Amazing !
Is there a difference between Falcetto and head voice? đ
Depends who you ask. Unfortunately there isn't universal terminology across vocal coaches, however I generally define head voice as a register that can have a fuller sound (think opera) and falsetto as a flutier lighter breathier sound (think choir boy). x
@@BethRoars Thank you. By the way my queen of Falcettos and whistle notes is Mariah Carey đ
I don't think I have heard a Pat song that I don't like
Just came here with a suggestion, I'd love to see you take a look at :)
TesseracT - April (vocal cover) by Kmac2021
He's really a music/meme CZcamsr, who did a serious cover for his April Fool's. As far as I know he's not a trained singer but his voice is amazing. Would be interesting to hear your take on it :)
Pat was one hell of a great rocker back in her prime days, and I still love her all these years later. Here is a good example: czcams.com/video/IGVZOLV9SPo/video.html
I love seeing your reactions so much :) I also commented on your old Stranger Things kids video, but maybe you won't see that comment. I'd LOVE to see you reacting to actor Jamie Bower's music, who joined the cast of Stranger Things in the current season, especially his song Paralysed: czcams.com/video/Dq_bP6H_InI/video.html I feel especially here he has quite the variety (first lower register, then belting?) and I'd find it really interesting to hear your take on it and learn more about singing and music in general. I always learn a lot from watching your videos.
I remember zero back in the day. you know or you don't
Much as I love Pat Benatar, I feel cheated where there is no bass player.
Didn't Annie Lennox have an 8 octave range???
Pat still rock here's a link from a week ago at age 69...I think there's a spot where she uses the techniques you mentioned as accompaniment during instrumental breaks. Loved the reaction.
czcams.com/video/9mhUwVDeu-w/video.html
Here's a Harry Chapin tribute
czcams.com/video/LbKmE3clnuY/video.html
And lastly a rare version of Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights...the video has some flaws but the performance is awesome
