Universal brake light switch install F100

  • This are 3 inexpensive fixes I did on a 1961 unibody. Installing a 1969 mustang duel master cylinder fits right in and is cheap. The brake light switch options are to add a brass tee for the original with additional line but I could not find the parts locally. The other option is a universal brake light switch, that's what I went with.
The next fix was getting rid of the old seat and installing the middle seat from I think a Ford Explorer. I might change out the small section for another double to make use of the seat belt. Next was the gas tank behind the seat. I moved it under the bed in the back, I think it was a 16 gallon aluminum race tank for around $130. I removed the spare tire hanger and fabbed up tank supports from I think an old lawn mower handle. The fill spout needs to be fixed.

That’s a cool old truck. I’ve gotta get my brake lights fixed on my 72 Ranger XLT.

Thanks, I am still driving it. Gas gauge seems to go down pretty fast, 429.

@@stangsf100s Hahaha I bet…😆 I think I found my brake light issue… I think the wires got burnt on the exhaust. I’m gonna tinker with it some more when I get back home.

@@jimmywilson1388 Good luck! 90 % of the time with these old trucks and cars it just takes a little time and hardly any money to get them back on the road.

Do you have a link to which mechanical switch you used? Thanks

Hi, It was quite a while ago but I don't think it was special order or even online. I think it was just local maybe napa or oreilys. It was supposed to be temporary but it's still working.

Hi Jonathan, I don't have a link, it was just a universal switch. Most chain auto stores should have it or something like it. Thanks
