    Crossovers sucks. I know they are more practical than sedans but I personally don't like them. Just taller hatchbacks. That's my personal opinion.

    My wife is on her second q50. Great car. Will definitely get another. We will never again own a German vehicle. All our Audi's and Benzes were pretty and nice, but I became all too familiar with the service manager at the dealership. This is our third Infiniti vehicle and aside from regular maintenance we have not been back to the dealer for anything.

    Wait so you guys ran 5.66 seconds in the 300 hp version here and than ran 5.61 seconds in the 400hp AWD Q60?
    You guys need to get some proper testing equipment because those are some shockingly large margins of error.

    Going out on a limb to say that this exhaust note is by far best in class, certainly the red sport at least.

    • @arniejonassen
      @arniejonassen Před 7 lety +1

      The exhaust note is sound coming from the speakers. The exhaust is very quiet. There's a hidden menu where you can actually turn off the noise.

    • @AveryJH
      @AveryJH Před 7 lety

      that's a shame, it certainly fooled me. I suppose that's the expected crutch with a luxury-sport sedan, gotta appeal to both crowds.

    • @rmyAddison
      @rmyAddison Před 7 lety +1

      The exhaust stinks, way too quiet, I came from a G37 IPL which had a nice throaty exhaust. As mentioned, "exhaust noise" is pumped through the speakers, which can be turned off. I'm on the pre-order list for the Stillen Stage 2 catback, otherwise love my Obsidian Black Q50 Red Sport.

    • @BigHeadClan
      @BigHeadClan Před 7 lety

      Oh I'm glad to hear you can turn it off, I was testing a RS400 a few months ago and really loved it... except that intake sound. This car needs a aftermarket exhaust stat.

      Because it has turbos its important to warm up and do oil changes frequently. (warm up for about 1-2 mins. and dont go above 3k rpm for like 15 min.) And always follow the owners manual about reliability it provides great tips. like avoiding short trips under 5 miles, brake in...etc.

    As ubiquitous as the QX60 is, I actually predict the QX50 to overtake the Q50 in sales. A redesigned model is in the works and the current model (although ancient) is a sales success. Right now Infiniti launched its signature edition for the Q50 which is a bargain, so it should hold off on its outside competition as well as its QX cousins for the time being.

  • @AugieRomero
    @AugieRomero Před 7 lety

    I have my wife driving the Qx60 and she loves it. I like driving it too, but my replacement car for my 05 G35 will be the Q50 RedSport base model with Premium package only, so I can have NAV at least.

  • @rmyAddison
    @rmyAddison Před 7 lety

    Nice review, fair and covered the "details"...........
    I shopped the Germans and Jags, bought a loaded Q50 Red Sport, love the car. The exhaust is too quiet, Stillen stage 2 catback on order, and the Dunlop run flats easily get overwhelmed, Pilot Super Sports in the future. The engine is fantastic, tech is on a par with anything (great surround cameras/sonar), size is a "tweener" (bigger than 3 series/C class/A3, smaller than 5 series/E CLass/A6), and more horsepower unless you move to M/AMG/RS, and they are in the $70K range comparably equipped.
    Dyno tests say they are under-rated, much like BMWs, the Red Sports are beasts you can take to the country club, and fit actual adults in the rear seats. Coming up on 3000 miles and I love the car, makes me smile very time I drive...........

  • @constischmitz9904
    @constischmitz9904 Před 7 lety +1

    I had an older Q50 (2.2 Mercedes sourced diesel, 2014 I think) as a loaner car and I must say that while it was VERY comfortable and decent to drive, some of the ergonomics and materials just weren't quite on par with a 3-series or an A4 yet. The steering wheel material wasn't very nice and it was a bit too thin for my taste. The boot lid felt flimsy and made an awful tinny sound every time I closed it. The weird thing is that the doors were nicely damped. The two screen infotainment takes a little getting used to, works fine though (although I'm not a fan of touch screens in cars). My gripe with the top screen was its angle... sunlight would often hit it and make it hard to read. Overall the controls could be a bit more driver-centric. The 7-speed auto is fine, no more and no less. The car looks amazing IRL, but driving dynamics and ergonomics (at least for the regular Q50) are not as sporty as say a 3-series. If you want comfort and rwd and something different than the Germans, go check it out, just don't expect it to be perfect.

    I am about to trade my Toyota Prius and get a Q50 so I talked the dealer into give me one as a rental for the day (2017 Q50 only 7.5k miles) ... it's fast but I can't see the value.. I think Toyota has me brainwashed. Here's why
    Prius has
    More trunk space
    More back seat room
    Better 48 MPG
    Half the price only 23k
    Uses regular gas
    Huge 500+ mile rang
    Discount on insurance
    HOV Lane (clean pass vehicle)
    Q50
    Better interior
    AWD
    Fast
    .... I guess I can say I have an infinite...
    I'm going to keep shopping around because for me the Q50 isn't worth the money. The Prius, tho it has a disconnected driving feel the price makes me look past that.

    @hookah531 Před 7 lety +3

    No joke this is a bad ass car but they did a horrible job when they got rid of of the 3.7 and went to 3.0 turbo not only did they fuck up. now we have a car that is lower on hp and a turbo that will give out in 3 years in to it. It's sad they had it going with the 3.7 330 hp now it's 300 a Nissan maxama can keep up with this now.

    • @Dn12011
      @Dn12011 Před 7 lety

      No. Stock for stock, the 3.7 is not on par with the silver sport 3.0 turbo. The 3.7 dyno ~260 hp and 240 lb-ft/tq to the wheels. The silver sport 3.0t is underrated and produces ~300 hp and 305 lb-ft/tq to the wheels. Stock for stock with equally capable drivers, the 3.7 stands no chance...especially from a rolling start.

    • @NS416
      @NS416 Před 7 lety +4

      @nkoster3717 Před 7 lety +2

      hookah531 I leased the 3.7 g37s, 3.7 q60s and just got a 3.0t silver sport. The 3.0t is faster and WAY more responsive than the 3.7. Of the line, it is faster only by a tic but from a roll on it walks away. Maxima is slower than either one

    • @ms3er396
      @ms3er396 Před 6 lety

      Agree. I have the 400hp Redsport but agree that the 300hp varient will out-pace the 3.7l Add in the fact that a simple JB1 Piggy back will bring the car up towards 400hp and add gobs more torque and it's a real winner. Stock however, the daily driving feel of the 3.0t is way better than the older 3.7l

A loaded up Fusion Platinum with AWD, all the leather, heated things, cooled seats, fancy driving and parking aids, remote start, etc can be had for the same money as a similarly equipped Q50. Rod H. It was more than that in the Nissan Mercedes documentation it said this was not the first Nissan and Mercedes-Benz have shared technology and they will continue to work in area of shared success just as the did when work on the Q50
      where engine and drive train and chassis technology were exchanged. that information was shared with investor and share holder in Mercedes and Nissan
      just compare the C class chassis with the Q50 it a common practise in the motor industry
      if only the general
      public new half of it
      the Renault engine in BMW etc developing new rear wheel drive plate forms for a niche market car is expensive so Nissan when to Mercedes-Benz I haven't got an issue the only people who get upset about it are brand snob and label freaks.

      There are two versions of the twin turbo 3.0, the Silver Sport puts out 300hp, the Red Sport puts out 400hp, and there is talk of a Black Sport in the future around 500hp.

      Bob Dylan Not really, its actually a bit disappointing. I remember how the G35 / G37 were fairly decent compared to a 3 series and matched up well. Now they're confused and the brand image has changed

      ? These get ~310hp and 320tq to the wheels. That's way more than a 330i and about on par with a 340i which is about $16,000 more expensive.
