    My wife has a 2015 q50s with the old 3.7. It's a fantastic car. Its a great car to buy used, they depreciate quickly and the second owner gets a lot of bang for the buck.

    I bought my 2019 Q50 earlier this year and I couldn't believe what a fantastic deal I got! Nice loaded, it was the "old lady" lease turn in. I got it from a reputable Infiniti dealer, and they knew the whole history of the car. This lady has been going there for YEARS! I sold my 12 Camry to Carvana for $6k with 153k on it. I was able to talk them down for my Q50 to $31k with 15k miles. The car is nicely loaded with Navi, AWD, etc. It was a no brainer! Such a fun car to drive!

    I own a q50s and absolutely love it. But the truth is this is a lease and buy used car. At the new price point it doesn’t complete but on used prices it DESTROYS everything in its price range. On the used market it’s a no brainer and sits at the top of choices

    Like the review. I own a RS400 and I love the car. I still do not understand why people complain about the steering, I have the "Super High Tech steering", when you switch driving modes it REALLY has a different feel, like you have multiple different cars personalities. As far as being old, Mercedes, BMW and other car companies have the same model out for 7,8, even 9 years at a time and no one complains about that. After a hard 12 hr shift, the car puts a huge smile on my face. 😎👍

  • @waynehicks1969
    @waynehicks1969 Před rokem +18

    I agree with your assessment for the most part. The bottom line is this. The car is for people who like to drive and want some luxury too. The car is very comfortable, performs well, looks great, is very robust (all those years of not changing the design much equals tweaking to get it right), it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to maintain. Everyone rags on the infotainment system, I don't like the big single screens, most of them look like someone glued a computer monitor to a dashboard, aesthetically horrifying things. Second, the purpose of an instrument cluster is to relay information to the driver in an effective manner that doesn't distract from the task of driving. Do you want a luxury sports car that drives great, or do you want to sit at home and play video games? If you really care that much about the infotainment system, you shouldn't be in this car, seriously, go away.
    The criticism of the drive by wire system is fair. I prefer more road feel. I don't think the praise of BMW is particularly good. I have driven a few BMW's and they were anything but impressive, really dull. This may not be true for the M series, but they cost a fortune. (Does BMW pay for these comments? I remember back to the the first Infiniti G35s and BMW 330s were catching fire trying to keep up, maybe BMW never really got over that.)

      That’s the unfortunate reality - Infiniti is no longer the reliable car brand it used to be. The 1st gen and 2nd gen G35/G37 cars were reliable and great. The Q50 came around the time Nissan was cutting costs and taking shortcuts. And it shows in the reliability data.

With gas prices rising, I am happy with getting 29 miles on the highway and combine 23.5 . Interior compartment storing is lacking but I dont have a problem with the information system. This is my 5th Infiniti sedan. Very little problems over 30 yrs..change oil and due the basic maintenance and they go go go..reliability has been great and waiting to see if that holds up with this model. Just my two cents !!

      Edit- the steer by wire should have never touched this car or the Q60. Put that crap on a SUV, not a more performance based platform. Nissan always makes silly choices like that (eg- CVT in Maxima).

    I'm sorry, yes the infotainment is outdated and in dire need of an update... but, sheesh, what's displayed here is more so a lack of user comprehension. What do you expect to happen just jabbing at the map? Do you know know how to pinch to zoom, or... I don't know, press one of the available buttons to the right of the screen? Also, most problems are gone when you use CarPlay on the top screen and are still able to use the lower screen for other functions. Why not show that?
    Again, this care needs to be updated, but most buyers will be coming from something older and as long as they have CarPlay/AA, they will be more than happy. This is a great buy for someone looking for a nice premium sedan with good power that will be reliable. That's why people buy it. We cannot always look at these cars through enthusiast's eyes.

Not a luxury one in my opinion and certainly a lot of road noise. Seemed to me a lack luster acceleration, unless I put my foot in it, which seemed strange considering all the gears it has in the transmission. Never got used to that. The steering feels detached because, well, it is. For some odd reason Infiniti decided steer-by-wire was a good idea in a sport luxury car. Sure, gives you adaptive steering potential, but at the cost of any road feel. And I don't know the answer to this, but I do question: What happens with a total electrical failure?

  • @miraphycs7377
    @miraphycs7377 Před 3 lety +6

    I am a bit biased because I own a Q50 (with the base 3.0 and non-DAS) but here is my two cents.
    The Red Sport 400 doesn't have a Torsen LSD so it has trouble putting power to the ground, especially in rear wheel drive configuration. Thus it actually isn't that much faster than the run of the mill regular Q50 like mine which although also doesn't have an LSD, and "only" has 300 horsepower, it can put it down power more effectively than the Red Sport. I personally done 0-60 in under 5 seconds with mine.
    Also the base Q50 starts at 36K ends at around high 40K and can keep up with the Red Sport. I think there is so much good value in the regular model I don't think you need to step up to the Red Sport imo. I think base Q50 with regular steering set-up is one of the strongest value in the segment better than G70.
    Whether you get the Directive Adaptive Drive By Wire Steering or not, what you need to do with every V37 Q50/Q60 is to get rid of the stock Dunlop run flats IMMEDIATELY. Those things hamper and hurt the car's performance so much, just as much if not more than the DAS setup itself. With the stock tire set-up, you could actually feel the tire flexing that is how bad of the tire they chose for the car. Change it to something like Michelin Pilot Sport and is a day and night difference.

      Bought a 2021 Luxe AWD in August 2021. Love the car, its my third Infiniti. That being said, its the worse steering feel of the 3. I had an 08 g35 awd sedan, and a 2017 qx50 awd previous to this car.

      Constant error? And is that the only error message you’re getting? It’s probably a dirty/faulty abs/wheel speed sensor. Go to a pay and spray and wash inside your wheel well and under the car.

    My advice to everyone is do not buy an Infiniti Q50. It is highly unreliable. The tires break all the time. I once had a flat tire right after I drove out of their dealership right after my regular maintenance. I guess the 360 point check did not include checking for leaking tires? Low quality cars. Low quality service. That’s your Infiniti!

    I had a Q50S I got new in 2013 as a 2014 model. I am so turned off by the Infiniti brand - poor dealer experience with issues that should be covered under warranty. The car had multiple issues and Infiniti corporate wouldn’t help. The whole infotainment issue was horrible too. They promised way back in 2013 when I got the car that we would be getting apps and Apple CarPlay. That never came during my ownership of the car. Never Infiniti again until the cost cutting stops and they provide better customer relations

      @@anthonyfields3856 That’s what I thought but I tried 3 different dealers in my area (which is a lot because Infiniti doesn’t have many dealers). 2 of the dealers didn’t put much effort into fixing issues. 3rd one put in a lot more effort but in the end they were handcuffed by Infiniti corporate. They were told they are not allowed to do any repair/warranty work because the issue isn’t an issue according to Infiniti. This was a drivetrain issue btw.

    Why is Infiniti still around ? They haven’t invested in new vehicles , design etc. everything’s old and all they do is little refresh to make it seem they are new. The interior has been basically the same for a decade . It’s embarrassing. Nissan needs to either invest heavily into their luxury brand or abandon it.
