Sir, lemme tell ya. I've been swinging one for 40 + years. Yours is prolly my top one or two channels to watch. Why? Adventure! I'm surrounded by miles of concrete & you get to hike into America's past! NOTHING cooler than that! The finds you make are of course awesome but the scenery and again, THE ADVENTURE in finding them is the cool part for me. I envy NO man but if I did... Well. You get the point! Love your vids & will keep watchin as long as you make em. Would LUV to know the tectors AND settings you're using too!! Thanks!!!
I'm not Brad, but, looking at his coil I believe he is using a Garrett, probably the ATMax. I would not venture to guess what his setting are, but I'm sure he does not discriminate.
Thank you for carrying out the trash that you came upon. Much respect to you!
Of all the detectorist channels I subscribe to, I enjoy yours the most. Your videos are down to earth, honest, and not over the top. Thank you for what you do and I look forward to the next. The 8 Reale was an awesome find. Congrats
Thanks so much for the kind words Bruce, I truly appreciate it!!
Brad, as usual you cruising around the CZcams universe and stumble upon a channel like yours which is just outstanding.... Your conversational style, attention to detail, focus on the beauty around you, and I imagine many many hours of editing really shows! I always go away after watching an episode inspired and somehow calmer and totally appreciate your dedication and effort!! Stellar work!
I waited in suspense all week to find out what you uncovered...and I was not disappointed! Amazing find! Congratulations!
So glad to hear that Nancy, thanks a lot!!
I have been waiting for this one. What a monster find! Fantastic. Imagine a fat silver sitting up there in the puckerbrush for almost 300 years until you stumbled over it. That's what we love about this hobby!!
Heck yeah!!
I think the detecting gods rewarded you for walking away from the new homesite without cherry picking the high tones. That Spanish silver is a monster.
If I found a 8 Reale I would poop my pants
Congrats Brad. You deserve it with all all the work you put in.
Thanks so much Bill!
EARTH ANGEL 😇 🤔. 😮 OOOOOH, when I read your intro earlier this week, I just KNEW it had to be a REAL!!!!!😆 BUT this is “GOLDEN” for you! What a find! CONGRATS 🍾🎉🎊🎈!!! THE Spanish “ Dollar “! Wonderful dig and super relics of a past not so easily forgotten!!!!CELEBRATE!😮👍
Brilliant find! i cant help feel the sadness and stress losing it may have cause the original owner. but
fantastic find.
Congratulations. You put out a great product. You don't bore us with digging... don't whine or complain (much)... great camera handling... lovely flora and fauna images... views of beautiful green mountains and rivers... you keeping us involved while you do all the work 😊... respect for the property and owners. But the BEST thing is your humility and appreciation for the smallest find... and your love of Vermont History and Curiosity about Colonial life.
Thanks so muh, Tami!
Mystery item:. Looks like a clock hand to me!
Huge Congratulations Brad! The unexpected finds are always such a rush.
Thanks a lot guys, that's for sure!
Dang!! What an epic find. Really raising the bar with this one. I bet your still picking it up at the house and looking at it in awe. I’ve been waiting all week in suspense to watch this video... well worth the wait. Thanks for producing videos and taking us along with you on your hunts. Pretty much everything you find I may never experience so it’s a great pleasure to be able to come along through your videos.
Thanks so much Kenny!
Excellent production quality. The music is just beautiful. You're elevating metal detecting to art, Brad. Keep it up!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Jim! Glad you think so!!
What a day! One you’ll never forget, I can’t even imagine finding such a spot such as you did loaded with high tones, with plans to return and then find an
8 reale in your way out! Congratulations, I’ve watched all of your videos and subscribed at about the 3k subscribers mark, and I must say your deserving of your finds. Lotta hard work filming and editing. Much appreciated, Keep doing what you do... your good at it!thanks for sharing!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks so much James, I truly appreciate it!!
I was having a weak day detecting a cornfield so i went around picking up those balloons that were littered in the field. Found a pouch full of coins including silver dollars about 10in deep under one.
That's awesome. I've been detecting in the hills around what was a big gold strike area in Montana. Thousands were up there all over. Someone had to bury something and never get back to it. I'll keep looking. Congrats on your find
Congratulations and that is what it is all about !. Thanks for sharing and Greetings from WW2HistoryHunter.
WW2HistoryHunter holy madonna! I love your videos too sir. Although i wish you would show yourself! Haha
Love your videos too.
You guys are amazing also.
Wow I keep running into you all over CZcams. We watch some of the same channels.
WW2HistoryHunter good to see you here
Great Find! WOW! And - you get to go back and dig all of those high tones at that discovered home site... So awesome!
Heck yeah!
WOW, can't wait for the return trip. Lovely hunk of silver. I use a fresh thin branch with leaves when I walk the forest & wave it to catch the spider webs
Ok, have my cup of coffee in hand, logging off the computer, going in to watch this on the BIG screen with the surround sound on (for the cool opening music of course)
Diggin' Florida w/ Rob
Definitely was worth the wait. Your passion and hard work pays off sometimes. Congratulations
Thanks so much for the kind words Greg!
Great find! I found one of those Spanish coin dated 1820 when I was setting my power pole in 1982. The confederatcy was hording up Spanish silver. Mine was a 2R. I can still remember how my heart was skipping when I found it.
Brad
Wow Brad, without even needing a metal detector! crazy!
What a gorgeous little brook @6:45! Most definitely a 'Bucket Lister' find for you! Great hunt Brad, thanks for taking us along once again!
Thanks for coming along Ken!
What an amazing find! Well done!
That hinge thing looks like a clock hand.
That’s what I was going to say
Possibly the lower end of a clock pendulum? Looks too heavy for a hand.
the find of a lifetime my new favorite, the nature views are great because most people would never see them except those of us that go in the woods,or watch your videos.thanks
Thanks for watching Philip!
Thanks for watching Philip!
Finding a huge 1700's Silver Coin deep in the woods on an old cellar hole site - that's as good as it gets !
A big congrats on a spectacular find Brad !
Congratulations on the find! I use to collect coins and those are huge coins with lots of silver in them...Also, some great video footage of the landscape....mushrooms, the waterfalls and such...thanks very much and look forward to your next video.....
Glad to hear you enjoyed it, David! Thanks for watching!
I'm so freaking happy 4 you! super congrats on a super find! another awesome hunt! give us an update on the coin! a quick segment on it! I'm super jelly lol
I got up at 4 AM to see this Brad! And it was certainly worth the wait. I did figure correctly what you discovered, LOL and am thrilled for you. Awesome!
Haha wow, glad to hear it was worth it!!
So great to tag along on your (.my opinion) quality life journey! We are so happy for you and so blessed to be able to tag along. Congratulations 🎉 and we can’t wait for more.
Really enjoy watching you dig! Your respect for nature and history just boosts my enthusiasm for YOURS when you find something awesome! It's so cool to think that NO ONE has touched some of those things for hundreds of years!
A double wow for the 8 riyal! Eddie will be sorry he wasn't with you this day! I think your 'mystery item could be the hand of a clock? Would have been a treasure possession in the day, but for a family who even owned a Spanish 8 riyal, who knows what they may have had in the home? Some of your best music to start the video off! Have a great day!
Thanks Jerry, glad to hear you enjoyed the music!!
Naughty making us wait! You looked like you had seen a ghost in the teaser.
I love the way you add the interesting scenery, wildlife, and plants you find along the way.
Remembered you were posting this morning so, of course, it was the first thing I did once downing a cup of coffee.
What an awesome day for you! The buttons are always a joy to see. The one that had intricate carvings was beautiful. The 8 Real was the topping on the cake!
Congratulations, Brad-your passion for relic/coin hunting is exciting to watch and addictive!
Your videos are always the “cream of the crop” with respect to finding history in the mountains of Vermont & I look forward to the day you return to that “sweet" spot.
As always, thank you for sharing your adventures.
Thanks so much for the thoughtful comment Jorja, glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching!
Something about you walking away from that unknown home site towards the end. I think the Relic Gods rewarded you for not being greedy ; ) congrats on an amazing find
Haha you may be right! Thanks a lot!
You know its a big find when you say “oh my God” many times😂 Congrats a great hunt and silver find.
Super Congrats! An AWESOME 8 Reale... and an item on my bucket list! From your finds, there should be a fair amount of finds yet to recover.... you just never know! Wow, blown away, bet your heart was pounding all the way home! Thanks for sharing and HH
Thanks Erle, still pounding for sure!
Well if ever anybody deserved that coin you did, nobody works harder to give us an insight into the past than you.We have our own history here in Scotland but they just can't touch you.So I prefer your videos and what I have learned along the way..So enjoy your magical find.It really was a WoW day , can't wait to go back to the other house that wasn't recorded and all those bleeps.Thankyou for sharing.😁😁
Thanks so much for the kind words Janice, I really appreciate them!
Brad, HUGE congrats on the find of a lifetime! VERY happy for you! Sometimes the larger a high conductive target is the the worse the tone sounds. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but I've ran some tests on different metals before and have had that result. Sometimes big silver is a large, crappy, thunky sound. Especially if the angle is weird. Have you been able to tell if it's authentic yet? Even if it's an old counterfeit, it's just as historic. Sometimes the old counterfeits are actually worth more that the real ones. (at least when it comes to some of the early US coins) A long time ago I sold a counterfeit seated dime for about $50 when the real coin would have been worth about half (it wasn't a detecting find or I would have kept it)
Thanks so much JD! The jurys still out, but the weight, Assayer mark, and design seem right. Curious it still rings a 80, even out of the ground. Still waiting to hear back from some folks more knowledgeable than I on these coins!
Be sure to give us all an update when you know. I don't know as much about the Spanish coins. So I can't help out. It's such a crazy find considering the 8 reales are almost always cut or holed when they are found. :)
There was a big scandal at the Lima mint, they were cheating on the silver content. a short while later Spain changed the back of the coins from a cross to the Pillars design.
What an incredibly amazing find!!! Definitely a find of a lifetime! I’m sure someday you will even top that find. Maybe find a cashe of Gold coins. Best of luck & thanks so much for sharing! HH ~ Gypsy
Indeed! I have a similar Piece of 8 in my coin collection in about the same condition. It was NOT free :)
Thanks Gypsy, haha a cache of gold coins would certainly top it!
Probably a hour pointer off a grandfather clock
I think I like watching your videos so much because you enjoy metal detecting so much! It is interesting to watch your reactions to what you find, Your smiles and general giddiness when you find something cool is contagious.
Brad, a great video. This is not the best time of my life and when i come home after one challenge or another, i love to have a cup of tea and watch one or two of your pieces. Its a calming experience and an uplifting one. Keep making them.
Cant wait to share this video with my friends, fantastic find man. and magical cinematography.
Thanks so much Richard!!
Unknown item maybe a hand off a clock face???
I love your channel! I love the nature shots. I love your down home manner! BUT most of all I love your unique historical finds! I'm wondering if that one item is the short hand of a clock. Maybe grandfather clock. The Spanish 8 reale (sp?) is awesome! And your other finds were incredible including the big shoe buckle. You seek in a fruitful area basically untouched by metal detecting peeps. Of a time long ago in America. More, more I say. And try to video a full acceptable time span like this one. I never grow bored! I hope you read our comments.
Jan Warriner I thought the same thing re the hand of a clock!!
Thanks so much Jan, I read all the comments and respond to as many as I can! Glad to hear you enjoy all aspects of my videos, I'll do my best to continue and improve!
I agree about the clock hand idea!
Great finds! You are so right about the balloons, I work as a Ranger on Fire Island and tons of them wash up, terrible. Can't wait to see what you find when you go back!
Phenomenal man! Major congratulations! My heart was racing, what a day. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks so much for watching!
Oh Brad ! What a super find ! A piece of 8, ( 8 Reale coin) From the profile of the Spanish King, It looks to be Carlos III. The Pillars of Hercules, the old and new world, as well as, the Mexico City Mint Mark are clearly visible on the reverse of the coin. From the oldest Mint in North America ! A bucket lister and a half ! A good United States One Dollar Type Set Collection of Silver Dollars, In my opinion, should Always begin with the Spanish 8 Reale and end with the most modern One Dollar Coin of today ! The person who lost that coin, lost some major purchasing power in their life ! Congratulations Brad and thank you for sharing that wonderful bucket list find my friend :-))
Well said, thanks again!!
Congrats on the 8 reale silver coin. As far as that mystery piece, it reminds me of a brass decorative plate found on old muzzle loaders. Just a guess.
That's kind of what I thought as well. Others have mentioned it being a clock hand, but normally they weren't quite that heavy.
I thought it looked like the end of a trigger guard
Congratulations on your find! One for the books! What amazes me with most your videos is you’re out on mountain tops in remote areas. I have learn a little bit of early american lifestyle history from you. Truly a great find.
So glad to hear that Paul, thanks for watching!
Congratulations on hitting that huge Spanish silver! Find of a lifetime! Great hunt, thanks for sharing! GL and HH!
Awesome video been looking forward to it Spence the other notice and have a great day dude.
Thanks Michael!
Congratulations great find. I live in the Snowy Mountains of NSW Australia. Similar sort of climate to you but reversed of course! We are in the depths of winter. Some of your footage of scenery, like the white fungi on the log in front of the stone wall today is spectacular. Keep up the good work, can't wait till your next video.
Thanks so much Eileen, hope you thaw out soon!
Do u get fungi in Australia?
Congratulations on your outside your bucket list discoveries. What a great find, happy for you. All discoveries were outstanding. Excellent video. See you on your next.
Thanks so much Jay!
Huge congrats! Love the videos! Keep up the great work and happy digging!
clock hand. what a day! loved the intro tune.
Wouldn't be that heavy. Clock hands were made as light as possible to keep wear to a minimum on the works.
.
Before he washed it off I was like, That's a "Piece of Eight". Sure enough it was.
Oh man, the piratical "pieces of eight"-- literally! Truly an astonishing find. Also loved that big gorgeous shoe-buckle; it's so strange how many of those got lost, considering how the people who wore them valued them. Maybe they came loose while they were on horseback?
Love your videos, the music, the nature the finds and stories. You’ve got it all. 🥰💕❤️👍👍
Nice find, Thank You for sharing the hunt ....Good Hunting! Could your unknown item be a clock part or maybe to a weathervane?
Thanks a lot, that could be!
That was my thought too! It's very much like a broken clock hand!
That's exactly what I was thinking
awesome find!.....by the way, nice reverse jinx, "The GREATEST Metal Detecting Find of My LIFE"....when you find that gold coin later this year don't forget this post
Haha I know, I'll have to ad (so far) to this video's title!
@@GMMD BOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOLD YA!! assuming your end of year sneak peak is a Spanish gold coin...........CONGRATS!!
Been waiting fo this all week!! Eeeekkk... Anticipation! Volume up and tea is on
Sweet!!
Congrats! Happy you get to go back. It'll be nice to see what else you discover.
Just a guess, but that unidentified pointed object looks to me like the hand of a clock ...
Congrates, cool old coin! 😄
The Objekt at 8:00 could be a clock hand, as allready was mentioned. Nice vid. Thumb up.
Greetings from Germany. GL&Happy Hunting
Flo
Thanks a lot Flo!
Fabulous! Very happy for you and thankful for the journey, as always.
Amazing Content!!. Your Treasure Hunting gets me threw my day.I just wanted u to know that you truly help people in your own way and It’s very relaxing and fun to see the videos as well as the little history’s on the coins, buckles, tacks etc....you know..Treasure.Keep up the good work.
Hi, congratulations on your excellent silver find, really impressive. Your other finds are very similar to many finds that we have here in England, ie engraved tombac buttons, worn coppers, buckles, but that silver is a rare and really top class find. Your two pin buckle would date around 1720 to 1790 and is similar to a couple that I have found in the North of England. Really enjoyed this video, all the best, GL&HH, Ian.
ian hughes I’m guessing there weren’t a lot of Spaniard’s dropping coins in England in the late 1700’s. ;)
Hi Ethan, right there, my friend, I have had quite a few Dutch, French and German coins from the 15th to 17th century though nothing of the quality and size of your amazing find. A few years ago I did get a cut quarter of a Spanish silver coin dating around 15th to 16th century but in very poor condition. Most 18th century finds though have been English or Scottish coins. ATB, Ian.
Thanks so much for the kind words and dating my little buckle Ian!
Great video!!!
Congratulations! Amazing find. I truely enjoy all your videos. There are some great pieces of history up in those mountains. Thank you for sharing and Hh
Again, time Well spent, your videos carry me away to the woods in the 1700's, what an adventure! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!!
Damn dude I Thought my 4 reales I got a few weeks ago was big congrats from the Brotherhood Metal Detecting club in New Jersey
Thanks so much!!
That chunk of silver is an amazing find but I have to admit I am intrigued by the lead nail. If you find more information please share it with me. Again another great job editing the video.
Will do, thanks Larry!
That was a great watch! Beautiful vid, well done as always!
Congrats on the awesome finds!
Just stumbled upon your channel the other day, been loving the content! I love the pure enthusiasm in your voice when you find that large Spanish coin at the end, I could feel that rush of excitement with you. It's making me want to get into metal detecting!
CONGRATULATIONS SILVER!!!, Nice a nice batch of Treasures thanks glad you got out finally!!,maybe a colonial joke nail?!, Worth it watching today!!
Thanks Richard!!
Hey! Those are oyster mushrooms on that log Brad.I know you're not into mushroom collecting but those are delicious.
Cant believe how old the stuff is you're finding.Lucky to pull an Indian head in California. That Spanish coin is unbelievable! Wonder why it only rung 79?
Anyway still Smokey as hell here
Firefighters by the bajillions have descended into my little valley of Potter Valley and it's great to see them! Cant hardly describe the feeling but it makes one emotional.
Anyway those mushrooms looked fresh so if you hurry ya might get them before the worms do!
Terrance
Glad to hear the firefighters have arrived Terrance, stay safe and good luck!
So Brad I hate to ask this but ,..if you were to sell that coin would it be worth very much? I'm sure you've taken the time to check into that...?Just for your own knowledge.I know I would, tho I would never sell it. I'm sure you share the same sentiment.I understand that coins that come out of the ground are graded and scrutinized much harder.Have you found that to be the case?
No worries Terrance! This particular coin has been floating around social media the last few days and it’s appearing as though it may be a period counterfeit created by the British sometime in the 1790’s, which would make it potentially more valuable than a normal Eight. Still waiting to hear back from some folks far more knowledgeable than I!
M
Great video with amazing finds, well we had a few drops of rain here in Oshkosh, Wisconsin not enough to even settle the dust. Muggiest summer days ever this year. Keep making these great videos and catch you next Friday.
Wow Brad !!! Hard to top that !!! Have to tell you something . Your photography is beautiful ! Always top knoch!
Thanks for the ride . Really enjoy you taking us along with you . Look forward to seeing you every week!!
Thanks so much Mike!
Excellent video, finds like those are why i like your channel the best. I always wonder how the heck Spanish silver made its way into the mountains of Vermont. That mystery item looks like a broken hand of a clock to me. I also enjoy how you address viewer comments in your videos, it shows you are interactive with your fans, and that makes me feel more connected with your videos. Great start to a friday once again.
Clive well said!
Awesome, wish I could’ve been there. Way to go.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Clive!
Clive Warren Spanish silver was legal tender in the U.S for a long time even when we had our own currency. I believe it was usable until the Coinage Act of 1857.
Mantel Clock dial 8:00
My first thought when i saw the lead nail was....ship builder or a seafarer. I think the piece of eight and the large ornate buttons are a strong argument for my case, anyway congratulations on your find! Love your videos too.
What a magic find! Congrats on that amazing coin! Thank you for taking us along on your trips. You have access to such beautiful country! Cheers from Australia, Chris
Thanks so much, Chris!
Cool. Find. 😎
Mystery item looks like the hand from a grandfather clock
Lordy Be, I got so overcome with joy just from watching your face going through all your emotional feelings! Happy as can be for you finding than old coin!
Awesome. Been waiting all week to see what you found. That was worth the wait and another to good reason to dig them all. Congrats.
So glad to hear that! Thanks for watching!
That's freaking amazing man.huge congratulations.
Great video bro congrats
Thanks so much!
Sick find brother man. Cant wait till the next video...
Sweet find my friend. Will be hard to top that. Looking forward to your next hunt there. GL&HH Eric
You need to buy an ultrasonic cleaner for your finds. That's what I use.
Wow, congratulations how can you be so calm about finding that huge silver? My wife Brenda worries about you being alone in the woods.
Haha You can tell Brenda thanks for the concern!
AWESOME!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Thank you for sharing.
Congrats on that amazing find, a once in a lifetime find and well deserved. I’m hearing what you say about the spiderwebs, I detect a lot in the woods and they are everywhere, so annoying! Looking forward to the next video, hopefully that new homesite will be fruitful. Thanks Brad 😊
Thanks so much!!
That's one hell of a fine Brad my wife has one but she inherited along with a bunch of other coins most we don't even know what they are there's even one that has a guy looks like the Devil with a pitchfork on it
Whoa that sounds interesting, Timothy!
WOW!!! AWESOME!! Man your gonna have a lot of comments to reply to. lol
Haha it's taking me all day!
glad you were able to share the experience with us... great find!
Love the videos. Your compassion is awesome. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Thanks so much!
