    I’m definitely loving these Mormon history stories!! As an ex Mormon, it’s kinda scary how little I was taught about my own religion! It’s eye opening learning about the men’s history. Men that are praised in the church. It’s a damn shame...

    Shhh...don't tell FairMormon how crazy they are. We need them to keep posting absolute bullshit so more people see it and realize how batshit crazy they are.
    Seriously though. It wasn't reading the CES Letter, or podcasts, or MormonThink that got me to leave the church. Those things drove me to FairMormon for answers. Then it was reading FairMormon's responses to troubling issues that sold me on leaving the church. Thank you, FairMormon!

    "The truth is a disease-" spot on! There's some quote - I think from Bednar? - bemoaning how historians "worship the truth" and how "the truth isn't uplifting. " and then there's your classic "some things which are true are not very useful."
    Then there's the fact that "the church" is supposed to be better than every other thing ever...but it doesn't behave better than the general wild west population. There's so many examples of that too, most prominent being the shift from not allowing black people the priesthood prior to 1978 to "we the church have always stood against discrimination (unless you're gay, a woman, disabled ...)" in 2018. The farther out form mormonism I get the more disturbing this MO is to me

    When my faith was shattered into pieces I turned to FairMormon and FARMS, believing they had the answers that helped so many people before me. They proceeded to take those pieces and grind them into a fine powder. I could not stand the ad-hominem style of argumentation they tried to use, and the beyond absurd explanations they present as facts or evidence. They took whatever reasons I did still have to believe, and showed my why I shouldn't be hanging on to them. They are despicable, but I still owe them a thank you for helping open my eyes... just not the way they intended.
    Fairmormon, defending the indefensible (poorly) since inception.

    Young's rhetoric of blood atonement wasn't hyperbole. They routinely killed people for adultery and other sex crimes and apostasy. In his memoir, John D Lee thought the Danites were going to kill him by surprise when he was accused of adultery. They took him into a darkened room to answer questions about the charges - he didn't know who was there in the room or if they'd attack him there. When I read that, I thought about Brigham's quote about that javelin and realized how real it was.

I can't imagine she knows this information and she would be totally disgusted by it if she did. Fair Mormon (from what I've read so far.) really likes to underplayed the issue, and in some cases completely misunderstands/skews up the issue entirely. The only people who can even get on board with some of the things are people who want the church to be true, and want an excuse, which is infuriating because then they're like "You're heart isn't in the right place" but it's like "No. Joseph Smith, a *37 year old* should not marry a 14 year old. I'm not being close minded that's just messed up."
    Pro tip, don't read they're argument on Joe marrying Helen Mar Kimball, it's so infuriating. 🤦

      This sounds like a very interesting subject! Maybe you should make youtube videos on the topic because you have personal experience? I will say that everything has a polar opposite, and will have a negative minority, but that isn't representative of an entire group of people.. This gives it a bad name, but keep in mind that this is a result of a religious cult, while your practice of polygamy is from a tribe, which I'm assuming is a generational culture tradition.

    • @prettyinpinky5937
      @prettyinpinky5937 Před 5 lety +1

      Aleksilly yes it’s generational, not practiced by all and there are rules, like you need your wife’s consent (legally documented), if she says no it’s considered bigamy and also your wives are equals so if one gets a diamond tennis bracelet, the other should get something they want that equivalent. Obviously you can only marry at legal age and traditionally your wives have to get a “woman cave” that the husband isn’t allowed into and if she goes in there you can’t step foot (to avoid fights etc and a safe space Incase of abuse or of another wife being a psycho). Lol no thanks on the video I prefer watching

    • @prettyinpinky5937
      @prettyinpinky5937 Před 5 lety

      Aleksilly yes cause our tribe were conquers who built a massive army that went into other African countries. Hence why we now have a group of Nguni language whose base is isiZulu. Also our ratio is that women out number men, always has been. And regardless of westernization we still hold to our beliefs. My cousin is an Attorney, her husband a doctors d the second wife a Charted Accountant. The 3 of them chose each other in order to creat generational wealth, and have the means to have successful family businesses. So it’s not all bad and they’re all happy and all equally busy and the wives are close

      @@prettyinpinky5937 I don't think someone's traditions should change based on western or any beliefs. My logic is that as long as someone in not being harmed physically, emotionally, or mentally then someone should do what they want. Besides, the polygamy ways of your tribe is very very different from the western world (who used polygamy as a means to control and desire - not for the benefit of the survival). Your tribe proves that polygamy can work, where there are those, especially in the western world who believe that a marriage between a man and a woman are the only ways a society can function. Does your tribe follow any religious beliefs, if you don't mind my asking?
