You don’t see many 57 fords. I have a 57 Mercury with a Continental kit it’s a neat old ride also.

When I was 12-13 years old (I’m 70 now) dad bought a 1957 Ford four door, sea foam green & ivory
and that same “Factory Air Conditioning” badge along with power steering and power brakes. It was a used car that was well taken care of; it had the clear plastic seat covers over the seat. Car was a great looker however it was difficult to keep running. Dad finally got tired of mom complaining about driving something unreliable and traded it in for something else after a couple of years.

An old timer once told me that aftermarket dealer installed air was cheaper in those days

And better. No dash vents just evaporater and fan bolted to bottom. Extremely efficient

Back in the late 60's a friend had a 57 Ford. Same exterior as this one with red interior. We had so much fun cruising in that car. I had a 57 Plymouth wagon. Not near as cool as the Ford. Those were the days my friend.

Jim Wicks is mighty fine guy, and has more knowledge about Fords than most anyone else.

I was shocked when I first heard that. I know many more Chevy's survived. Both were great cars. Both better looking than most of today's new cars.

In 1985 I bought a 57 Ford custom 300, for $500, It had the 272 and a 3sp OD trans. I put in a 312 merc and had some fun. Still got it, it needs a lot of tlc, but I'll never forget those hot summer nights in that thing.

My uncle bought a slightly used 57 Fairlane 500 four door hardtop. It was solid color seafoam green and had factory air. Every time that we tried to go to New Orleans from Baton Rouge, either the car would overheat or the air conditioning would conk out.

From WC, my brother had two 57 Fords, the first a Fairlane 500 2 door sedan, looked like a hard top but had pillars around the windows front and rear! Next, I think he got a raise and bought a 57 Fairlane convertible Black, even had a continental Kit and skirts! I think the Illinois winters got to him though as the next year he bought a white 58 Fairlane 500 2 door and kept it a long time! I had a 57 Fairlane (different chrome) that my Dad worked on for me in 1964! It kept my new wife and me going for several years, even though it was not in the best of shape! When I look under the hoods of my current vehicles I miss the simplicity of those older Fords!

When I was in high school in the late 1960s one of the local hot rodders had a black 1957 Ford just like that. He had put a 427 FE dual quad and a four-speed in it with fenderwell headers. It looked bone stock on the outside. Factory wheel covers and all. Also had the old school cheater slicks on it.
Some people said it was the fastest car in town, maybe he was I don't know. Saw him street race a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 with a 428 FE, the 57 Ford beat the Mustang by two car lengths. That was a memory from 1969. I was 17.
This happened in the great Inland Empire in Southern California. 👍👍😎🏁

The main reason 57 Fords outsold 57 Chevy was that Chevy, or GM had a labor strike for a part of that year, and the production lines shut down. That no doubt affected the cars sold

The 57 Ford outsold the 57 Chevy by over 100k units. They had a major rust problem and this is one of the reasons you don't see many left. They were an all-new design and looked like the 57 T-Bird i from a taillight standpoint.

Why can’t people pronounce Chevrolet correctly. It is Chev-ro-lay, not Chev-uh-lay.
