What a great discovery this little documentary. Despite being seen as a sitcom my granny (who had been a real life parlour maid in London in the 1920s just like Ivy) said the depiction of upstairs / downstairs life was spot-on. Servants on the fiddle, rivalries, servant hierachy; the gentry either set in their ways (Meldrum), or buffoons (Teddy) or rebels (Cissy). It was an extremely well planned and well conceived world, which they also succeeded in making very funny and entertaining. A brilliant series.
Love this show. It was shown here in Sri Lanka when it came out we enjoyed it thoroughly. Sadly we don't have a way to tape it as it's not available here. Except for the snippets on YT, I don't know how to watch it.
