Pink Floyd were an English rock band formed in London in 1965. They achieved international acclaim with their progressive and psychedelic music. Distinguished by their use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, extended compositions, and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and influential groups in popular music history.
Pink Floyd were founded by students Syd Barrett on guitar and lead vocals, Nick Mason on drums, Roger Waters on bass and vocals, and Richard Wright on keyboards and vocals. They gained popularity performing in London's underground music scene during the late 1960s, and under Barrett's leadership released two charting singles and a successful debut album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). Guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined in December 1967; Barrett left in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the band's primary lyricist and conceptual leader, devising the concepts behind their albums The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977), The Wall (1979) and The Final Cut (1983). The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall became two of the best-selling albums of all time.
Following creative tensions, Wright left Pink Floyd in 1979, followed by Waters in 1985. Gilmour and Mason continued as Pink Floyd; Wright rejoined them as a session musician and, later, band member. The three produced two more albums-A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994)-and toured through 1994. After nearly two decades of enmity, Gilmour, Wright, and Mason reunited with Waters in 2005 to perform as Pink Floyd in London as part of the global awareness event Live 8; Gilmour and Waters later stated they had no further plans to reunite the band. Barrett died in 2006, and Wright in 2008. The final Pink Floyd studio album, The Endless River (2014), was recorded without Waters and based almost entirely on unreleased material.
Pink Floyd were inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. By 2013, the band had sold more than 250 million records worldwide.

My favorite band and I believe the all time greatest guitar solo.
I'm82years old and they are still my favorite. I enjoyed watching this with a kindred spirit.

iv been addicted to Floyd for 35 years.
I worked on that tour in Europe! The biggest tour i even worked on ! 50 trucks 400 crew members to build the stage ! 1994. We needed 3 days to build the stage.

You Just imagine to be there, in front a huge scenario, billions of powerlight watts,
surrounded for hundreds and hundreds of thousands watts of impeccable atmospheric sound,
in front of one of the most legendary bands in the history (genuine dinosaurs),
and among a completely silent audience listening and watching totally hypnotized, abandoned
to such an experience ...
Fantastic, really.. Some like that usually happens once in a lifetime.
An unforgettable experience..
That scenario costs an immense fortune (structure, all these robotized lights, strobos, light canyons, huge screen, projector (make the movies) and all that amount of RGB Q-switched DPSS lasers..
Is a very expensive material. Believe me.. It's crazy !).
Prepare, programming, sinchronize, execute that light show choreography,
assembling, disassembling and transporting all that material entails a gigantic effort and logistic work.
And at least they need two equal scenarios during that tour.
I worked for almost six years setting up scenarios for music shows (on a microscopic scale compared
to what is seen in that video) and I know what I am talking about.
A Pink Floyd tour is a huge thing.
They've earned it on pulse. xD..

the 2nd guitar solo (i'm not sure we'll ever see a better guitar solo in our lifetime) is heard 20% by our ears, felt 80% by our body, but taps into areas of our own brains we didn't even know existed ... even Queen Elizabeth realised this, which is why he's not Dave Gilmour ... but Sir David Gilmour CBE :)

I think you should watch "The Wall" movie. It is a work of art. It gives a undetstanding of these songs you do not get from just the music alone. Not saying the movie music is better. I had on on laser disk. A surround system and video projection.

I never could listen to The Wall. I suppose they HAD to move on from the spacey instrumentals .. but Roger Waters melancholy wasn't my cup of tea. Love parts of Animals though.

I am thinking this song is about Sid Berret one of the original members of the group but he went crazy and is in an asylum now the song was wrote by Roger waters in tribute too his friend ... or so I was told through my own sources still very sad song

Syd Barrett actually died in 2006 and he spent most of his post Floyd years living quite reclusively back in Cambridge, but not in an asylum. He definitely influenced the later creative output of his former bandmates, with Shine on you crazy diamond being a very specific tribute to him.

Song Reaction videos are usually more interesting of those who are hearing a song for the first time. Obviously you have heard this song dozens if not hundreds of times so your reaction is the same of any Pink Floyds fans. So in essence, your reaction is nothing special.

She never said it was, in fact quite the contrary. None of these "reaction videos" are first times. You can tell, if you the songs well enough that they're cued in on certain lines to pause and do/say... whatever. Google knows im a Floyd nut, so ive seen the droves Floyd "reaction videos" anyone over like 25y. Has heard C.Numb, Dark side, some W.Y.W.Here etc. They are all clickbait. Funny, she missed the concept, and is honest!
I really wish people would stop picking this live version as their version of Comfortably Numb to react to. Apart from the second solo (and then only maybe), the original studio version is so much more impactful and so much better... this version is soooo sloooooow and bland.
GroovingPict ....it’s hypnotic and beautiful, masterful, completely disagree with you.
For me it holds special significance as I was in the audience that night, bathed in the flow of reflected radiance, listening to THAT solo!
I prefer live version as the one which has the longer solo.
