Your laid back tutorial gave me confidence to try this. You’re a natural teacher please post more videos on DIY projects.
Awesome! Thank you!
Love this! Not only the water fountain but the whole back yard looks like paradise. Thanks you for this video
I love this. Going to look for a heavy lamp. If not I have a couple of other ideas. Thank you!!! ❤❤❤
Fabulous,Detailed,& Lovely Home/ Garden& funny Dad 🤗
People so mean so mean when they give thumbs down. I think it is good video as I learn something from you. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Haters are sad
Some people get an emotional thrill out of being nasty. Just ignore.
They vile people
You are right. Of people don’t like the video just move on!
That trickle of water will sound so relaxing when you're chilling in your hide-a-way
What a great yard! Great video! For me, I would bury a much bigger reservoir so I don't have to check the water level so often. On a hot day it could run out of water due to evaporation and burn your pump out. I use wire mesh on top of my reservoir (with a milk crate under as support for fountain to sit on)and put the rocks on top of the mesh. Use way less rock and lots more water to protect your pump. The size of the reservoir determines how often you must refill the water. LOVE your water bottle and leveling tips!
The water bottles are a great way to take up the extra space! 👍
THANK YOU. I really appreciate how you're telling us prices and where you picked things up. Much more helpful than other videos with similar content!
Great video, thanks for sharing, the fountain is very nice!
I absolutely love this video. It inspired me to go to goodwill to find a lamp base, of which I found a perfect one, take it apart and buy the remaining items needed for my fountain. I am following your instructions s and with your instructions, I know I will be successful, too. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Oh my goodness, don’t pay any attention to anybody who’s negative. I think you did awesome job on the video. Don’t let them people bother you at all cause they ain’t going nowhere, you accomplish something. God bless.
Great project, planning to use your idea however I am going to place a matching dinner plate at the top for a shallow birdbath that the butterflies and hummingbirds can use.
If you turn the big pot upside down it makes that shallow and still flows down the pot which creates a place for the hummingbirds to sit and bathe. That’s what I did and they love it!
I watched alot of these diy bird bath/ fountains, and yours looks the most aesthetically pleasing
This is hands down one of the easiest assemblies I’ve seen. I was just gifted a beautiful vase and I’m definitely going to try this method In my new memorial garden. ❤️
Just a suggestion: add a ring of stiff (like fibreglass) insect screen over the bottom section and another one just inside the rim of the pot. If it's secure enough you can add a few rocks on top of it, plus the fine mesh with help to stop debris and dirt getting in. Just a thought! I love this water feature though and your garden is spectacular!
That is a wonderful idea. Thanks for sharing!!!! ❤️
@@HorticultureGeek just discovered u ....What a great first video for me too see....may I say. SALUTE' you are a great husband and great dad inspiration .....I adore this
✌💚🌹💚
Great pot selection. So lovely among the flowers. I'ma gonna do it too!
Thank you! Glad you liked the video. Have fun making yours.
Folks he didn’t say it, but Don’t turn on the pump or plug in until everything is filled with water. You will ruin a pump in a hurry if that pump isn’t in the water at the proper depth. I might also recommend a filter arrangement to keep the leaves out etc. Did you fill the bottles with water. That should hold them down without rocks. You want lots of water or it will keep evaporating or the animals will drink out of the basin... I would wire that jar to a piece of SS pipe to hold it in place from storms, earthquakes, kids, dogs, etc. Believe me, they can fall over. I find it best to dig all top soil out and put sand in then twist the np basin in place. My first one the soil gives way, gets lumpy etc and before you know it it’s no longer sitting level. You set the jar close to one side, and pound the pipe into the outside soil about 18-20” down and leave the pipe about to the top of the decorative pot height and run copper wire round and round the lip and over to the pipe and secure well. I would make it a bit taller ..the pipe in the jar , just a but taller so it flows over. And it needs to be full of water. My concern is the dirt in the water will burn your pump out. You can also put a little head on it to spray which is pretty and a different type bubbler. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!!!!
I agree - I’ve had 4 water features with and without a pond, and the pump filter has to be cleaned frequently. It will be very difficult to get to that pump with this set up, but it does look really nice.
Great project! I just have one suggestion; Initially rinse dirt from your rocks using the bag they’re in by running water through the bag after making several drain holes in the bag!
Loved the project! Love your garden 😍
You are a natural teacher. I totally enjoyed this video and can’t wait to see more. You make me feel like I too can have a beautiful yard.
Ollie's and Tractor Supply, now your speaking my language😍
Beautiful yard and great idea for a water fountain!
I just found this video 3 yrs later. It was fun to watch & follow the process. I like that it was a real experience with what could go wrong & how to fix whatever does. You made me want to try putting in a water fountain myself. I’m so glad I found this channel. You’re a real inspiration. Yes, indeed, you’re landscaping is awesome. Thank you so much. Also, I’m going to look for your other past videos 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much!
All that, plus a great personality as well. So authentic, and so easy to absorb this info because of how it is presented.
Beautiful backyard! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I love your down to earth presentation.
Just caught thus video 2 yrs late - but perfect timing! I LOVE this idea, allows you to be creative and/or use things you have on hand. Also, just picked up an antique child's chair like the blue one on your porch - in someone's trash!! It's burgundy, but I LOVE that you painted yours blue, and will be a copycat😂. Thks!!
Some of the best garden accessories come from road side trash piles. 🤣😂😁 I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
❤same here
I sooo love your yard so peaceful and beautiful ❤❤❤
I have made different versions of these fountains, one thing people forget is you now have to take it apart to clean the filter that's in the pump once in awhile. But you whole back yard looks amazing
What an excellent way to enjoy the sounds of water. I love this! It’s also beautiful and pleasing to look at, much more so than mine. Next year I’ll use your ideal. Mine is made with a solar pump, a large decorative flower pot (no holes) and a cheap snack tray which I made several holes for water to drain back into the pot, topped it off with colored rocks. I love your backyard! Thanks for sharing, even though the video is 3 years old. Your son is sweet 🙋🏼♀️ hello
Thank you!
Great project. I ❤️ your garden. Absolutely beautiful. I'm looking to do something similar in the near future. I just picked up a solar floating lighted pump. I love it ao far. I have a simple 5 gallon bucket setup currently in my bird feeding area. Still undecided on what I want so I'm gathering ideas. Thanks for sharing👏🏾👌🏾😎👍🏾👍🏾🙏🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾
Beautiful!!! Thank you for showing us how it's done! I have a blue vase from Ollie's...😆 Your garden is awesome!
Thanks so much for sharing your amazing fountain and beautifully lanscaped yard. I love ❤❤❤❤ the pot.
You are so welcome. I am so glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you! Beautiful yard addition. Your backyard is awe inspiring 😮
Thank you so much!
I was getting impatient; after reading all the positive comments I decided to see your beautiful garden.
Exactly what I was looking for . I have 3 matching pots I want to stack them having water flow over the smallest down to the largest, I also bought them at Ollie's last year and have did nothing with (think my humming birds would love to play in).I had no clue where to start so thank you for sharing this and putting in words that a slightly less intelligent person can understand, lol. Also your garden is just gorgeous, I love the colors, yellow is my favorite and there is a lot that just pops out .Happy to have found you You have a new subscriber "ME" .
NICE! Love the blue fountain with the orange flowers. Beautiful yard too!
Your back yard is gorgeous!!! That's exactly what I am looking for!! Thank you, thank you!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very informative and easy to follow! Can’t wait to get one going in my garden!
lovely, well explained , video. you're delightful & helpful!
This is the best diy water fountain video I've seen. From start to finish with everything explained step by step.
Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it.
Nice garden.That was fun ,Thanks.
I've been researching DYI fountain features. This answers many questions I still had and hope this to be a 2021 summer project. Very good detail and instructions.
Wow! Very nice!! I just made one a few days ago which is very similar to yours except I turned my big pot upside down and have the water come out the hole on the top so birds can land on it and get a drink or bathe.
Love your laid-back, informative style. And your yard is gorgeous.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
I was thinking the same thing. Simple instruction and troubleshooting along the way.
I so appreciate your style of demonstrating and how you made something that I feel confident that I can make.
Love this! Turned out very beautiful. Might consider when you get the hole dug to put in a large round paver underneath the black tub as a more sturdy base. Might be easier to get it level too. Spreads the weight of the fountain over the whole tile? What do you think?
That is a fantastic idea!!!! Thanks for sharing.
@@HorticultureGeek well i cant wait to put what you shared to use. Harbor freight here i come LOL
Just subscribed. Can’t wait to see what else you come up with!
we all create joy in different fashion....thank you for sharing your videos with the world...sincerely thank you
I love your backyard! Your bar area is awesome. I also love your wooden chair with the plant. Your water fountain is beautiful. Thank you for your video.💕👍🏽
Thanks so glad you enjoyed it.
It needs a top so birds can come and bathe and drink beautiful job!
Really good clear instructions - I made one myself, not quite the same, but following your method and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. Thank you!
Soak the new rocks for ten to twenty minutes then rinse. What’s on them is clay that will take some time to loosen up. Place the end of the hose at the bottom of the bucket and let it run, the water will overflow and clean itself. As far as the plastic water bottles go…pick up gravel from dollar tree to put in the bottles and keep them from floating.
What a unique idea for a garden fountain. I just may have to try making one for my little garden space. Thank you for showing us how easy a project it really is. Time to go shopping….lol
This video was EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you so much. I love your garden too! Definitely going to subscribe!
Love your cute dog photo bombs
This is my DREAM yard 🥰
very cool. Thanks for keeping it short, sweet and simple. Can't wait to try this myself :)
Your backyard is beautiful! 😍
Your son is adorable and I love the fountain.

You have a BEAUTIFUL backyard!
You are so detailed, and awesomely creative. I've always wanted to do this project and you make it easy to follow, step~by~step instructions. Thank you🦋🐠🐦
Very nice diy project. Thank you! Your garden is very relaxing, beautiful.
Your yard is so pretty. You've done a great job. The pool looks really inviting.
Wow! What a neat way to make your own water feature. TFS! I love it & it looks awesome in your yard. Thanks for showing how it's done. 😀😃🙂😄😁❤🧡💛💙💜💙💙
I like your fountain. Thank you for explaining how to DIY step-by-step.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your yard is great. I can tell a lot of thought went into it. I’m going to make me one for my back yard. You are an excellent teacher.
You make it look easy! I love the sound of a water fountain. Thanks for the demo! 💦
Really great video. I appreciate that you took the time to show all the steps and tools. So realistic with having a tiny problem and a child in the background. I'm on my way to building a similar fountain and you've reassured my that I am on the right track. Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing. I love the water feature you assembled. Your garden is beautiful.
Omg 😮 I love you back yard ☘️🌿🌱🍀🍃🎋🌷💐🌺🌹🌼🌻😍😍🥰🥰
Very informative and something I am planning to do. I had not realised you are able to have an unfenced pool in USA. Beautiful as your garden is, it looks so strange to me without the fence. In Australia it would cost you $1,000s in safety fines. Interesting how our different country's have such different views on that. Thanks for a very informative tutorial.
A fence is required to block the pool from the public. Since our back yard is fenced that is what counts here. We don’t require a second fence directly around the pool.
Your yard and garden are beautiful.
Lucky for me that my local Ollie's is RIGHT NEXT DOOR to Tractor Supply! Thanks Ray!
You are welcome. They might be sold out this late in the season but they get shipments in the spring.
You are super lucky !
Thank you for the display of your water fountain..your yard is SPECTACULAR
Glad you enjoyed it
Love your gardens they’re beautiful. The water feature appeals to me because I love cactus and it looks like a big green cactus. Enjoyed the video
Looks very nice, just add bigger rocks around the top , birds can sit there and drink❤️🛎
Awesome project! You are a natural teacher! Thank you for the inspiration❤❤❤
Thank You! I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for the video. Just what I was looking for. Great idea using an orchid pot to house the pump! But my favorite part was your son"s cameo appearance! New subscriber!
So glad you enjoyed it and yes that cameo is also my favorite. Welcome to the channel!
I agree. I wasn't aware he was there, initially. I saw what appeared to be white caps on the pool surface! What's going on there? 20 knot winds, and yet the flowers aren't moving a bit? And he's so calm. And then his son pops in...lol at my own senior moment!
What a lovely yard.
I enjoy to see you build you water fountain , turned out amazing and beautiful ,that place you set the fountain around the beautiful flower is sou magic I love .
I watched a different video and they soaked their terra-cotta pots before they drilled the holes, and it was much easier for them to drill
Thanks for the tip!
That makes sense. Never thought about doing that. TFS
Pop some tape over where you want to drill the hole too, start with a smaller drill bit too to "ease" the "pot-hole" if you see what I mean......then change it to the size drill bit you want to use
Thanks for sharing this. I plan on making a water fountain pot of some sort so thanks for all the info. Came out really great!
HEATHER KOHUT- WOW, THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT VERY VALUABLE TIP!!
Great video! I will be doing this in my front flower bed, by the front door.

You’re a very good teacher!

Glad you enjoyed it.
I livebbe a highway and will turn up the fountain quite a bit more to driwn iut traffic. Your garden is beautiful and your son is a hoot!❤

Nice job, I like how you thought everything out ahead of time.
Looks great.

Thank you!
haha I'm from Florida and my husband and I were watching this... and I looked at him and said whaddya think? Georgia, South Carolina? I love his accent too. Great video with troubleshooting. I like the speed ups without it being toooo fast. Very nice result!!
I have always wanted to do a water feature. With your tips I think I can do this. Thank you ❤
YouTalk too much....
Ray I made this and i love it!
AWESOME!!!! I am so glad it worked for you. I would love to see it. Feel free to tag my Horticulture Geek Facebook page.
Love your yard! So beautiful!!! Love it!!! GREAT JOB! THANK YOU!
Thank you so much!
If you have a “flat top” with a hole in the center you’d get a better effect plus hummingbirds and others could take bird baths. A top could be added or pots similar to this could be placed upside down to get a flat top with drilled hole (and use with an internal reservoir). Just an alternative to consider. Thanks 👍
yes, thinking the same thing.. could get a clear plastic plate (dollar store) or any clear plastic cut into a circle and silicone to the pot enough to prevent little birds from harm.
Yes, I was thinking the same thing....otherwise, little creatures could fall in and drown.
