What do the companion and family traits do and how do they affect when they levee your group or force you to devastate a city. Thank you in advance
its culture vs mercy trait. If the fief is empire, then an positive mercy empire ants mercy, a negative mercy empire wants to devastate, and same for not the same culture. When you get to the choice to show mercy pillage or devastate, you hover over the choice and it shows who will hate it

I do not think family or companions can die in bandit camps. I have never played with anything but death on and have done hundreds of camps with all family and companions in each one and never had a death. Death in battle yes. Death in pregnancy yes. Never in camps. At this point the odds of it are pretty astronomical. Anyone absolutely sure they have had death in a camp in the later patches?
