“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

🌟I know they know about this but it wasn’t mentioned so in case anyone still has issues floating the gel. Creating a slip layer (thin layer) before adding the bulk of the gel helps me. Gel tends to follow gel and therefore will move easily where you want it after creating that slip layer.
I used gel on myself before I ever went to school and learned acrylic. Bc the acrylic smell is too strong for me to do at home. I still find myself gravitating towards it for my own nails. It’s so clear and I’ve found a product that has allowed me to grow out my natural nails so I never have to sculpt or use tips, which makes me happy lol.
Slip layer? Is this layer not cured or cured
@@daciadunnigan5393 not cured
hello can you help me too? The gels are very fluid from the table lamp and the heat and they overflow 🥺 what kind of gel should I use or how can I prevent this?🤗
@@tavananna571 get a mini fridge & try keeping it in the fridge. It’ll level a lot better. Hard gel comes in different viscosities if that’s what you’re using so you could look for a medium or they some some that really don’t move at all. I haven’t really seen A flexi gel that comes in different viscosities. I like using luminary and I put it in the fridge.
Oh that’s a real hand!! 😂😂 I thought it was one of those fake practice hands....until it moved

Man I needed this video. Hard gel is just so different application wise. I’m still having a hard time with hard gel.
Yay thank you for showing the gel version of this! Super helpful to offer videos for both gel and acrylic
Glad it was helpful!
@@youngnailsinc which material is better for beginners?
@@imawkward6136 either or is fine for beginners
Thank you so much for your videos! My goal is to go "back to school" and go to nail tech school, but I currently don't have the money to afford any classes. So I'm am practicing a lot on my own and I fully trust your expertise and these videos are so incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for educating us!
Idk if you've gone yet but you've got the right idea! You'll fly through faster than anyone the more you know about actual application before you go in. Work hard! I'm rooting for you!
Im too young to attend a nail school (im still in high school) so that’s somewhat in the same boat as you! However, practice on your own is an indispensable tool that will work wonders in the future :)) You got this!
Hello

Thank u for all your tips, I do my own nails and I’ve had issues with base before... I forgot it once, 3 nails popped, but I had remembered after the 3, so only had to redo the 3.
for sure
can you use a regular base gel polish or does it have to be like the base gel she used?
Thanks for these awesome tips Tracey 🙂
You are so welcome!
I just bought the gel trial kit! It's supposed to come today and I'm super excited!

Hi I’m going to do the gel and use the form my first time doing it my nail is really short so just follow your steps correct and when I’m done with the gel I can add a color on top of it and then of course top it off with a topcoat

I learned gel first and self-taught with acrylic! Overcoming ten plus years of muscle memory is an unholy nightmare!!!
for sure
@@youngnailsinc I've been self-teaching for several months now and I'm just about confident enough to do a set on myself, but I *still* keep going to pick up and apply like gel!
Yay Tracey, I can't believe I missed this one until now. Is any of the gels better than the others for an overlay on a natural nail? I need help!!
All of our gels work great the difference is the viscosity of the gel when working with it so it is just preference of working with a thinner or thicker gel
Think most have done the bunny hopping technique, great video thanks!
Welcome
Is the protein bond called base coat? Or is it a completely different product?
Beautiful
Thank you
I have a problem with hard gel retracting from the tips of my nails after curing when trying to do an overlay on my natural nails. Any help!
Awsome cheers 🥂
Thanks for watching! We hope you enjoyed this video on common mistakes with hard gel.
I love gel....thanks for the tips!! #TEAMYN
❤️❤️
Do we add the base gel for a fill? I can't see just putting it down for that tiny bit of nail. Also, I always apply base gel to the end of my form where the end will go but I only need it on the actual nail? Thanks so much for these videos! They are really helping me.
Yes, you want to apply base for a fill and you should also apply it to the entire nail. Just a thin coat, it's the foundation of your nails.
Thank you so much for the very valuable tips! (no pun intended...lol!)
❤️❤️
Awesome! So helpful thanks. Could you do a removal video for hard gel nails? Hard gel forms and hard gel tips like the two you did in the video 🥰
more videos coming daily
Is the gel base you prep with the same as the base coat gel?
So is base layer a thin layer of the same product?
Can we use the soak off base coat (young nail) instead of this base? For gel
It has been done, however can contribute to lifting
Hey! where’s the base gel you use from? ❤️
I love your pusher tracy...😘🥰
❤️❤️
More gel videos please!
Noted! More gel videos, we're going to work on it!
is protein bond the same as nail primer?
What grit arbor band are you using for prepping the nail for gel and/or extensions?
We use our 150 grit sanding band with very light pressure at around 3,000-5,000 rpms.
I use LCN product and light elegance. Which is the best gel to use? I find LCN's fibre tech easy to work with not strong enough so tips break. And Light Elegance is thicker but when i try to hover and apply its very "liney and full of divets and hills" so i have to buff so much in the end trying to even it out
I hate that. I hated having to do acrylic on people, let alone myself. But damn it do I like this gel stuff! I am a criminal about it and want to know every secret! HA! Best of Luck and May Jesus Keep You ~
Tracey , what hand file grit can I use for natural nail prep? Really hope you get this message🙏
We use our 150 grit sanding band or hand file.
I love the ease of gel however everytime I apply gel to my nails, I lose them or one or two in the shower and I have revert to acrylic , again as these last.
I know that gel doesn't have the same flexibility and absorption as acrylic and wondered if you have come across this issues?
It's most likely your prep. Like she was saying, gel hates a smooth surface. They're always talking about prep, so binge their videos and I bet you'll find the problem!
Question - is primer not used w/protein bond? I didn't see that step. Great tutorials!!
Protein bond is used in place of primer
Would you suggest buffing the natural nail for regular nail polish? Doesn't buffing the natural nail damage it?
No buffing is fine for regular polish
Can you also use a base gel as the base on the nail to prep for the hard gel?!
Synergy base is designed for hard gel. It’s the foundation to building body!
For the first nail, you used clear gel for base, does that apply for tip application as well?
You can use our synergy base gel for the extension as well.
If I use a full coverage tip (full nail) should I still use protein bond?
yes
Do you cure the protein bond?
What is the flash cure time for your builder gel?
You can flash cure our hard gel between 10-30 seconds, but after each layer, you need to fully cure for 60 seconds.
Is it really necessary to use a base gel coat with builder gel? What difference does it make?
Base has the most resin in it to anchor onto your nails. Base is your foundation for your nail.
Thank you. #TEAMYN
❤️❤️
Is it supposed to burn? Why do all my gels always burn. I can't even handle it. I stopped getting them done. Tried different lamps too. What bran d do you use?
If you are feeling those heat spikes, it may be that you are using thicker layers of product, which can produce more heat. Try applying less product or using the “low heat” mode on our lamp. In this mode, it will begin curing slower & then the power of the lamp will increase to fully cure. You can also start by curing the nails just outside the light for 20-30 seconds & then place them fully under the light to complete the cure without the heat spikes.

All of our products are our brand.
I can't find base on your site outside of the trial kit. What could I use instead?
Base is a necessary step with gel.
@@youngnailsinc I mean specifically the base gel used in this video. It's not on your website outside of the trial kit. Is any base gel okay to use?
@@youngnailsinc I looked again and it's a dropdown option on the synergy product. FYI that is very confusing!
Haha happy you found it
I just learned how how do Russian mani with extensions this is not easy to get a apex lol time to practice
can we clean with asetone or alcohol if we dont have swipe?
For hard gel acetone, for gel polish alcohol
is swipe the same as acetone?
No, Swipe is an alcohol and acetone based product formulated to cleanse the nail perfectly for product.
Here is a video about Swipe & how to use it: czcams.com/video/lXxr0U-kHkM/video.html
I dont see the base for sale on the yn website. Is it discontinued

❤️❤️
This might be a stupid question. I'm super new to gel so I don't really know anything! I thought gel got really hot when you cured it...its okay to let it cure for so long.?
it does have a heat spike but it doesn't last long.
The band you are using is only medium or medium to coarse?
Med
Thank you
Is the base for hard gel different than just a base and top coat? Or can I just use any base and top coat?
It's different. It's a hard gel base. Base has the most resin in it to anchor onto your nails. Base is your foundation for your nail.
@@youngnailsinc thank u.. didn't know that
Please could I request you make a hard gel polish to be able to use the sandwich technique? At the moment If I wanted to use a different brand eg light elegance, I would be worried about compatibility and would rather use just your brand only.
You can encapsulate regular gel polish
🤔🤔🤔 I never have problem with gel peeling off from smooth surface before, seen many others that don't have problems with that either on CZcams.
Can we go from acrylic to gel? And gel to acrylic?
I’ve seen it done. Check out Tabytha Scott Nails she does hybrids every now & then.
Did you use dehydrator? I seen you went from cleaning to bonder. And what is base? I've never heard of it. I was taught dehydrator & bond is all I need.
Yes, our product Swipe is a cleanser/dehydrator. The synergy base we used is needed before applying hard gel.
Base has the most resin in it to anchor onto your nails. Base is your foundation for your nail.
Do I have to put on protein bond?
We recommend protein bond as it helps with adhesion and preventing chipping/peeling.
What is the proper name for this type of nail extension I want to get it done but don’t know what to look for
They are sculpted extensions with nail forms. We are using hard gel in this video, but you can sculpt with acrylic as well.
Can we use natural tips with gel?
Yes, you can use acrylic tips and then apply hard gel over them. Just make sure to prep the tips like you do the natural nails as hard gel does not like a smooth surface.
She reminds me A LOT of Jennifer Morrison in Once Upon A Time!
They're matching
❤️❤️
Beautyful video sweety 😍😘i wonder why there is no compagnie that selling alraidy tectured nailtips🤔🤔🤔that would make it a lot faster and easy also to create sets i think?maybe young nails can try that😄😁😉😉? I know for sure that i would buy that!❤❤❤
Never know what may be coming
Do you ship to France ?
We will link our list of distributors so you can see who sells our products near you.
If you don’t see a distributor in your country, simply zoom out on the map until the closest one pops up and get in contact to see if they ship to your location.
www.youngnails.com/pages/locate-distributor
What about heat spikes?
Heat is a result of any chemical reaction. When using gel and putting it into the light, the light starts that reaction immediately and you get that instant "heat spike." We recommend using the "low heat" setting on our lamp to start the curing process slower to avoid the spike. If you don't have our lamp, try using thinner layers of product or start curing the nails just outside of the light for 20-30 seconds and then move the hand into the light.
I’ve got a question if anyone can answer when do you apply the dehydrator or the primer or do you not apply them? I’m super confused
Dehydrator is only used on the natural nail surface and primer prepares the artificial surface. Hope that helps.
If you're using forms: buff, dehydrate, put forms on, prime.
If you're using tips: buff, dehydrate, glue the tip on, blend and buff the tip, dehydrate again, then prime.
If you're doing an overlay: buff, dehydrate, prime.
Is the protein bond really necessary?
Protein stays sticky.. sticks to the natural nail and then sticks the product. You don't have to use it, but we make sure we always do to ensure our products don't lift, chip or peel. ❤️
Acrylic also had MMA in it, until it was banned. Great video!
Not all!
Thanks
I dont know why my lift by my cuticle doesnt stick for some reason 😫😫 and i tried so many ways and i dont knoe what im doing wrong
What are your steps for prepping the natural nails?
I wish non pros could buy your products other than the bits and pieces on Amazon 😕 I’m 54 and not planning on going back to school to get a license lol Just wish you made things available to your followers who don’t have a license.

USE YOUR IMAGINATION GEL
February 22nd
When you refer to the gel base, are you using the same gel foundation as you would for a gel polish or is it actually just a thinner layer of builder gel or a WHOLE different type of gel? HELP! lol
i know many people just use a thin layer of the same gel they will use to build the nail :))
I'm now confused, what's the difference between hard gel, soft gel, base gel and construction gel?
Hard gels do not soak and can build with. Soft gels are flexible and can be soaked off, like a gel polish
@@youngnailsinc thanks so much for answer my question
