Every lie we tell incurs a debt to the truth. Sooner or later, the debt must be paid.
What a great quote.

A quote that has never been truer. Especially in these times.
As usual, is paid this debt common people, not the real guilty
"Sonner or latter" wow, you easily fucked up such a great quote.
Yes it was very profound. It really stuck with me.
Those poor firefighters who didn’t even know what they got themselves into.
ThomasFan 1945 one of the fire chiefs from Kiev said that they all knew about radiation danger, but of course not to the extent it was, but that they knew it could make them sick. They sacrificed themselves to save millions.
did you know in the usa?
Every firefighter including me knows EXACTLY what will happen to them in severe radiation incidents despite all the PPE, dosimeters and survey meters. By the time your dosimeter reading starts to increase...it's too late. A rising reading is exactly what it means...it's rising and will carry on rising even after you withdraw. These poor buggers knew exactly what they were getting into. We hosted their wives and children......the wives knew as there husband's had already told them if it happened they would not survive.

It chilled me right to the bone.. It underlines how important the task is while also the pointing out that staying within those 90 seconds of exposure and getting out within the time limit means everything.
Our comrades did their country proud
Why exactly did they have to get the graphite off the roof in the first place?
@@nyeoncolors6949 The plan was to start building sarcophagus around and above the destroyed reactor 4. Cleaning of the roof of reactor 3 was important to lessen the radiation level there to make the building safe and in order to get rid of harmful radiation influence for workers during construction process. All the poisonous shit should be buried under that sarcophagus.
Alex oh I see now I was confused cause I saw the throwing graphite over the edge as useless because I thought they were just gonna cover the roof anyway but that makes more sense.

At 2:33 Legasov's face-expressions after he heard the real number, is heartbreaking.
Jared Harris and Stellan Skargård make me feel the real sentiment of the real men. Over 33 years after.
I think you mistook that expression, he already estimated the number to be more than twice as high* in the Central Committee meeting earlier.
*Based on his claim that 3.6 Roentgen = 400 X-ray exposures, and his estimate of the firemans exposure being 4 million X-rays, or 10,000x higher = 36,000 Roentgen.
I would say that the expression on his face was relief at being proven right, that the cleanup could begin immediately instead of being caught up in Soviet bureaucracy while it continued to poison the surrounding land as the Chernobyl administrators had been doing up until then.
He knew that many would die....... legasov first almost died by going over a nuclear reactor then told the entire world how an rbmk reactor core explodes, then he hangs himself at 1:23:45 am

People, this is the difficult part of this beautiful mini serie. In fact, Fomin or anyone else didn't send Sitnikov on the roof. He made this choice by himself, like a sacrifice so that others wouldn't have to do what he did and suffer the consequences afterwards.
Each one of these Liquidators knew that the work on the roof would ultimately end their lives and still these brave men didn’t hesitate and did their job to protect millions from the radiation. They gave away the lives in front of them so that future generations would rise. These men have all my respect for this selfless act.

Okay, the part where Vasily is holding the baby made me cry so much. He was so so young...He should've got the chance to experience being a father.
When we think of Chernobyl, we think of destruction, radiation, and catastrophy. What Chernobyl should be remembered for is people. People who sacrificed everything for others. Reminded me of a great quote I heared on The Expanse; "One of us is wrong. I think it is you but I hope it's me" because despite his knowledge he still seemed to hope that he would be wrong. Jared Harris is such a great actor that he doesn't even have to open his mouth to steal a scene^^
Ik! Their bodies slowly decay, to the point where they don't even look human. The worst part is if a nuclear war happens, the whole world gonna share the same fate as these people.
"We're asking for your permission to kill...three men" damn, the writing in this show was next level
Yet all three of them survived and lived long enough to be less killed than it was shown in that shitty fiction.
Boris Baranov: died at the age of 64 in april of 2005, almost 20 years after the tragedy.

Except the fact that they showed many things that were not happened. Other word: there are alot of lie in this fictional bullshit, that was created to deform the history.
@@user-bd1si1ru3x what kind?
@@pushkarsoni8927 first of all, "secret" tapes from Legasov. They were more like memories, not secret revelations. And he did not destroyed them or throw to the garbage bin.
Second one, how they depicted Sherbina. He was not that stupid as he was shown. He was an engineer and that scene with "throwing out of helicopter" is an absolute nonsense. He was working on cooperation of whole mission: evacuation, supply routs, organization temporary camps for liquidators etc. He was not a shady KGB moron as he was depicted in series.
Third one: Hamyuk is a complete fiction. There were dozens of real scientist working on that problem, finding solution. Not like little brave decedent woman finding solution by miracle or because how gifted she was.
Scuba divers scene is a complete bullshit. Not only they survived, two of them are still alive, they were working in nuclear production for many years after the incident. Also that "vodka celebrating" looks rly stupid. They were sprayed with clean water first and then they were isolated. Nobody was hugging them and ofcourse no vodka on duty, that's a big nono.
Schadov, the minister of coal mining industry. Just google and look at the face of that man, who started working in coal mine at the age of 15 and worked on mines for 40 years and then compare with what they showed in the series. Whole scene from armed guards ready to shot and angry miners initiating dandy in blue jacket into the mining is a complete bullshit.
Naked miners - bullshit.
The amount of mud, dirt and vodka in temporary camps is absurd. There were several buildings completed for people to live during the operation. Tent camp was maybe few first days. Mosin hunters is also absurd, because there were no mosins in the army at 1986. Every soldier was equipped with an akm at least.
Concrete burial in the middle of nowhere - bullshit. Ignatenko was transported to the Moscow where he received bone marrow transplantation and died two weeks later. The external damage was not as brutal as it was shown in the series, most of the damage was inside: lungs, kidneys, blood. .His wife was outraged about the series. Vasiliy was buried at the Mitinskoe Cemetery in Moscow with the regular ceremony, yet in metal coffin and without shoes, because his feet were too big from edema to find any shoes to put on. Concrete was added years later when radiation started to get to the surface. And outside of his window was not a grey wall of desperation but main square of the capital, where he and his wife were watching the salute at 9th of May. Not a main thing but a detail that creators intentionally deformed to show how bad situation was. It was bad, yes, he died in agony. But he did not die like a stray dog.
The 5th episode was inacurate for participants in the trial and what theses were considered at it.
And so on and so on. People are making hours long videos about all those aspects and all the lie that Renck and Mazin put there intentionally. To show that USSR is a place of grey hopelessness, rotten corpses and lunatics ruling poor people. Despite the fact that USSR at 1986 had more from capitalistic society than socialistic.
Still was able to evacuate thousands of people in few days without any loss in panic and crush. Was able to cease the aftermath of a tragedy without rly big consequence for the world, mobilize and organize a big operation with thousands of people involved if few days.
it's just too much of a bullshit, those series has almost nothing with the real events. Probably the only one man that was depicted kinda accurate is general Tarakanov.

Great artistic..emotional resumee of the mini show..the price of lies and so..is for me the message of it..at least.gj on the person that caught the best of it in this small masterpiece
The sound of that Dosimeter in the background gives me chills...
Incredible editing, I thought I was watching an advert until I read the description. If this isn’t your job, it should be. Thank you for sharing!
Many people died because of the radiation.......
All of them have so many dreams😭😭
All of them were so young :(
wait till you hear about world war two
@@andreiwallstrom2845 Yeah but thinking about WW2 the soldiers didn't had such extreme pain it was still very painful for those who lost parts of their bodies like hands or legs but being melted from the inside to outside it's unimaginable
I finished it last weekend. But you my friend, made my gasp one more time...
The person who made this.... A thousand salutations ... Great job man!!!!
I don't think I'll ever watch a more accurate & precise Series depicting the Chernobyl incident and depicting the mishaps cuased by humans that cost humans,
Masterpiece & brilliant edit*
