The Murder Of Hollie Kerrell

  • Hollie, aged 28, was brutally killed in her kitchen in Knighton, Wales, by her estranged husband while the kids were in the house. Hollie is one of two women killed every week by an ex-partner in England and Wales.
Women account for more than 80% of victims killed by their partners - and most of the time, the partner is male.
According to a study, men who kill their partners mostly follow a "murder timeline" that could be tracked by police to help prevent deaths.
The eight steps discovered in a study of almost all of 372 killings studied were:
1 - A pre-relationship history of stalking or abuse by the perpetrator
2 - The romance developing quickly into a serious relationship
3 - The relationship becoming dominated by coercive control
4 - A trigger to threaten the perpetrator's control - for example, the relationship ends or the perpetrator gets into financial difficulty
5 - Escalation - an increase in the intensity or frequency of the partner's control tactics, such as by stalking or threatening suicide
6 - The perpetrator has a change in thinking - choosing to move on, either through revenge or by murder
7 - Planning - the perpetrator might buy weapons or seek opportunities to get the victim alone
8 - Murder - the perpetrator kills his or her partner, and possibly hurts others such as the victim's children

Another classic example of how the red flags aren't apparent at first, and once the control sets in, its very hard to stop it. The fact they had kids would have made it all the more difficult for Holly to plan any kind of escape because she has 3 other little humans dependant of her for safety and stability, and even with a good family unit, that initial break is terrifying to initiate and go through with.
To anyone thats struggling, you're not alone- ask for help in any way you can and keep doing it until someone hears you and helps you. Set up code words with someone you trust so you don't have to give yourself away if its really that dangerous, a random word like bananas or armadillo, but something that alerts someone that somethings not right so they can seek emergency help on your behalf. Its never too late, you're never beyond help, its never too difficult ♡

And its because of setting up a code word with a couple of my closest friends. My word was banana 🍌 saved me from a few beatings because friends were able to just randomly show up or get someone else to show up and make it look like a random drop in, usually clearing all the tension in the air for a while and allowing things to calm down. And I only had me to worry about. God rest the poor souls of those who didn't make it out 💔🙏

That's a minimum. Murder carries a mandatory life sentence in the UK and the judge gives a minimum sentence before which parole cannot be considered. If after that time the criminal is considered to be a danger, they stay in. Simple. They do NOT get out in 15 years, sentence finished bye bye, it's a process involving a lot of experienced and qualified people. Mitchell Quy, for example, had a min of 17 years. He's deemed as highly manipulative and dangerous, so he's already served over 25, and parole has been denied 4 times.

I can only hope there is a special place in hell for people that leave children without a mother, we all get given a life sentence when a loved one is murdered but as adults we find a way to cope but kids on the other hand suffer significantly more and it will often set the tone for their entire lives and how they too behave as parents, how often do we hear of kids who have completely gone off the deep end as teenagers/young adults often because of the loss of their mothers at a young age an be attributed to this loss of control.
So yeah i think its next level cruel.

    • @fluffyfour
      @fluffyfour Před měsícem +1

Please don't judge our sentences by US standards. We are a much smaller country, though dense in population, and have much fewer prisons, most of which are full to the brim. The prison service is not a tempting or well paid job, so courts have to manage the prison population somehow. I'm not saying it's right, but it has to be done. 25 years is pretty good for a sentence here. Some people serve even longer sentences. Mitchell Quy was given life with a minimum of 17 years. To date, he's served over 25. If they are deemed to still be a danger, they DON'T get out.

The strong gut feeling of the Detective who made the arrest of the husband of Hollie; Chris Kerrall, once they’d got Chris into the police station that day, i find the epic level of his sixth sense/gut feeling, its 100% purely & truly amazing, beyond any & all words!
No joke, i know better than most,(dnt ask me why & how i knw - i jst do😒) that ALL police officers, no matter their unit & wot their rank, they’ve kinda got this internal software which acts like a “wrong’un detecting device” (lol)
its a subconscious thing in my opinion, internal programming/software, which can detect when there has been a nasty crime which isnt at a 1st glance obvious, as there is not the evidence initially clear to see from any angle, the investigating officers/detectives assigned to such cases like this, have a way of getting straight to either the person/persons responsible for committing the crime (which they suspect) or at very least a person who is very close to the perpetrator/s!!
Im always thoroughly amazed by the great investigating skills these detective own, & how bloody strong that sense really is!
Absolutely know that 9/10 times they’ve got their perpetrator/s & really do know, wot they’re looking at wen they’re looking at it or who they’re looking at wen they do, like a sniffer dog sniffing out drugs in customs or something, they just follow their noses!!
Hats off, utmost respect to these officers, unbelievably awesome detective work & sniffed out that rat faced killer husband! U got ur man, right frm the get go, u knew he was a wrong’un, u went all in & u were bang on the money there guys, so biggest pat on the back to all of the 20 something officers assigned to work this case of Hollie!
Hope u guys are proud of urselves, coz u really should be, good old fashioned police work, u cannot beat it! An experienced bunch of specially trained DI & DC & other officers who are up there with the most experienced of investigators within any of the country’s PD’s, for cracking & getting a conviction in cases like these there ought to be a medal type recognition frm higher up, coz its not down to luck that these crims get caught & jailed!
Its the officers working stupidly long & ridiculous hrs to gain every single possible piece of evidence, witness statement, a view of every & any kinda angle of a crime which can be attained, its these officers who do that mega taxing & exhausting hard work, but wen it ends with a crim jailed like Chris was, all the evidence stacked up around him to get his arse banged up for life, has to be the most rewarding feeling ever, wen all the hrs are put in by a unit of investigating officers, i bet that wen a guilty verdict comes in & proper justice is served, that the local pub where the police officers etc go to enjoy victories such as these, are packed with massive congrats frm all sides, goin to the celebrating officers who got the case solved & a successful conviction of the correct individual, that would be my sole reason for being a detective in the homicide unit or a major unit like that!
Wot brilliance! WELL DONE WALES POLICE FORCE.
Win win win, but a bitter pill i bet it is to swallow!

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! The rule of law, the rule of evidence, and good investigative training matter most. Any “gut feeling” may be useful but is unreliable much of the time.

I wonder if they realize that saying "No Comment" is essentially an admission of guilt. If a person was innocent they would have no trouble answering the questions. The part of this that was off was that they equated abuse of the partner with a woman being abused. Though that is a large portion of partner abuse it is not all. Men are also abused by partners. It should state not the abuse of man against woman but the abuse of one person by another.

Police can twist your words to incriminate you, or make you admit things that seem incriminating. Not saying they're doing it maliciously, it's their job to sniff out criminals and get them off the streets. But innocent people shouldn't risk saying things that sound "off" to the police - always get lawyered!

Funny you say that Dr Monkton
My ex partner, she was coersivve and controlling, the relationship was solidified quickly, she would often make comments about self harm and suicide ideation, She was always offering out my services as a "Taxi" but when one of her friends asked me directly cutting her out the loop, she had then obviously felt threatened because she warnewd off her friend for "Trying to take my man", she then dumped me and a week later was shacked up with another guy...
So I feel lucky because an incident where she had lost the polt and tried to attack me with a kitchen knife left me concerned for my own safety, this was after the breakup, she wanted to discuss something relating to sharing the care of our child.
So I ask you, why are you only concentrating on men and not including women in your research?

you clearly don't know the statistics, regarding the main perpetrators of domestic abuse, stalking and coercive control. Male violence is a huge problem to society, or do you think women offend more than men?

What? You feel sorry him? You’re blaming her? 25 years…when he’s a free man, what makes you think that he’s not gonna do it again? I think he should’ve gotten life without parole. Now the children are without BOTH parents.
