    FYI in answer to Ruth's question about Select Committee Chairs which got skipped over.
    The Speaker determines the number of Committees that each party will be allowed to Chair, in proportion to their Party strength in the House.
    Then a motion proposed by the big parties, and approved by the House, assigns each Committee to a certain Party.
    Then when the elections for Chairs takes place only members of that Party may run for each Chair position. The elections are run by secret ballots with a preferential voting system, so can't be strictly Whipped.

    what's wrong with the Rwanda scheme? should richer countries have more of a burden to help refugees? UN law and wider international law doesn't give us any such burden! the "burden" should be on the first available free country, not just choosing to be in Britain because it's richer.

    • @jonowebster9156
      @jonowebster9156 Před 2 měsíci +3

      Burden is the wrong word totally . We should do our fair share - France and Germany take many more asylum seekers than us . Rwanda policy was vile , racist and stirred up hate and division in our great country

      @@jonowebster9156 And the recent ‘election’ in ‘safe’ Rwanda had the very long serving leader win by 99%

    Lollllllllll give it 8 months . Forget the world , first focus on this country . Can he pedal the ship ( country) faster in the positive economic direction we were heading under Sunak and the Tories , or we going to get worse stagnate and start regressing back to a depressive state while we fill out pockets of migrants coming for economic gain ?
