      Poland was in a tough situation. Iga Baumgart, Patrycja Wyciszkiewicz and Anna Kiełbasińska could not be called to the team because of health problems. Additionally Justyna Święty sustained an injury just before this race. In the last moment she had to be replaced by Aleksandra Gaworska (she was terrified!). So even before the race it was clear that the Polish team with only one regular (Małgorzata Hołub) could not win and would be fighting for the bronze medal.
      Under these conditions that medal was a success.
      Of course the strongest Polish lineup would have won this race.

      Justyna Święty had bad luck - she sustained an injury just before this race. Her quadriceps muscle was torn.
      At the time the Polish women's team was affected by injuries - Iga Baumgart, Patrycja Wyciszkiewicz and Anna Kiełbasińska were also not able to compete.

    Neck n neck at the 200m mark with Bol running the final leg. It's not going to turn out well for GBR. Yikes. Orange and blue. Who woulda thought it would be a great color combination? I'm gonna try it out, when I 'tailor' outfits for my characters in my video game. 400m is a pretty cool distance to watch.

    Didn't the Poles have a couple of different runners than in previous years?

    • @alialibaba1886
      @alialibaba1886 Před 2 lety +2

      Yes. But at that time Poland was in a tough situation. Iga Baumgart, Patrycja Wyciszkiewicz and Anna Kiełbasińska could not be called to the team because of health problems. To make things worse just before this race Justyna Święty (the Polish anchor) torn her quadriceps and had to be replaced. So it is safe to say that this line-up was improvised at the last minute.
