lmao the funniest part of the entire simpsons is when frink remotely sends the autodialer on a return home mission and it deploys wheels on extended legs and homer sees it rolling out the front door and unquestioningly chases it down and simply breaks the legs off to keep it from happening again
I don't think I've seen anyone in the comments mention this yet: I love how Frink originally designed the autodialer to alert school children about snow days... But a single snow day would probably be long over by the time the dialer called every home with children in a city that big. Maybe it was meant for very small towns... EDIT: Okay I did the math. I picked a US city that sounds about as large as Springfield (my hometown of Tucson AZ) and multiplied the number of homes with children (300,000 - 30% of the total 1mil population) to, give or take, a 30 second phone call including ringing, person picking up, and a short message that today is a snow day. That clocks in at a little over 100 days to take the dialer to call everyone. Even 20 seconds for each call would take 70 days. So yeah, I'm thinking the autodialer might've been invented for very small towns with like 100 people. Also I must have a sad and alarming amount of free time on my hands to do this.
Although the autodialer need only call the houses affiliated with the particular school where it was stationed. Presumably each school would have at least one.
Homer's lack of surprise about the autodialer's legs is actually in keeping with a key character trait my father pointed out to me, years back. Homer, at least in the classic years, has a tendency to take whatever he observes in the moment at face value. Even if it goes against what, even for him, would have had to have already been well established. The most immediate example I think of is the one Dad and I were discussing at the time; the "Maggie lost her baby legs!" Treehouse of Horror scene. Logically, Homer should know from personal experience that people don't shed their "baby legs" to sprout adult ones, but drawing this from memory would take more mental energy than someone as chronically lazy as he is, is willing to put in. Ergo, he instead draws on what's happening in the moment: she's started growing her "first tooth", and her legs have now come off, so this must be another developmental milestone she's achieving. One of those character layers that gets funnier as you think about it, and then watch it in action. Like in this scene. 😂

I think you missed the point of that scene. It's funny because of how greedy and heartless he is that he'd rather keep 1 dollar despite having millions of dollar despite the fact he could be granted eternal happiness. And even though he seems intrigued he still says fuck it
this just made me realise we haven't seen Homer wear his glasses in years. He used to put them on from time to time in older episodes but it seems like they just totally forgot about it.
I think the funniest part is that he still pulls the same scam after being told to apologize to the entire town. In my opinion, the best season for the Simpson’s was season 8
I love how my phone now goes off 10 plus times a day and this is the case, and the government just doesn't care. Sorry Homer, you were ahead of your time.

And the front door is randomly open 😆
I love how the court ordered him to apologise to everyone, meaning he actually DID bring in the evidence to get conviected xD
“Will you two shut up?! People are trying to sleep!”
“Got me out of the shower seven times!” Haha 😂
Ever heard of an answering machine? 😂
He said bath... Who gets out the shower to answer the phone? 🤣
Bruh, Wiggum said *bath*
@@philbecker4676 Wiggum left his bath
Seven!!
I like how Abe is so old he doesn't even realize he's sending money to his own son lmao
Inviting the recipient of the call to look as happy as someone they can't see is a brilliant bit of comedic nuance.
3:54 that's why I actually respect Wiggum
He may be corrupt and incompetent, but he still goes out on the calls, and he actually has been good at his job a few times
Homer is such a monster that he deliberately put the autodialer on redial on Flanders' number.
That Mr. Burns scene is so sweet and interesting. "I'd be happier with the dollar" isn't a bad attitude to have.
you're mr burns you dont f with mr smithers
I think you missed the point of that scene. It's funny because of how greedy and heartless he is that he'd rather keep 1 dollar despite having millions of dollar despite the fact he could be granted eternal happiness. And even though he seems intrigued he still says fuck it
3:19 standard "dark simpsons" clip
this just made me realise we haven't seen Homer wear his glasses in years. He used to put them on from time to time in older episodes but it seems like they just totally forgot about it.
He wears then occasionally when reading in modern episodes.
I presume he does not need them as much due to laser eye surgery.
I think the funniest part is that he still pulls the same scam after being told to apologize to the entire town. In my opinion, the best season for the Simpson’s was season 8
You have the power
4 and a half minutes is better than all of seasons 15 onwards put together
The joke with the autodialer growing wheels and Homer chasing after it then snapping them off gave me a good long laugh, holy moly.
I love how my phone now goes off 10 plus times a day and this is the case, and the government just doesn't care. Sorry Homer, you were ahead of your time.
I love it when Homer wears glasses that he apparently needs sometimes even though it was previously established that he does not require glasses when he found Henry Kissinger's in the toilet.
The sum of the square roots of any two sides of an isosceles triangle is equal to the square root of the remaining side.
@@KTK44 that's a right triangle you idiot.
@KTK44 that’s a right triangle ya idiot!
I love the detail that Mr.Burns answers the phone like that because that’s the way Alexander Graham Bell intended for people to answer the phone
Waiting for these episodes as a child at 7.30pm on Sky One, followed by a Futurama double bill. Absolutely brilliant show. Should have ended years ago though, new ones are awful
1:20 Never expected Burns to be relateable to Millennials.
Didn't Grandpa recognise Homer's address though
Arse Robinson He’s senile.
Logan Meek grampa's voice: I'm senile? That means I'm never going to die.
Let alone Ned Flanders? Plus Homer's voice since they're both neighbors...
Mr burns should have known homers voice
Milli Macro yes. maybe he and Abe knew who the "happy dude" is
Something is oddly charming to me about Burns twirling the phone cord around his finger.
I love how Homer opens the audio only scam with "Do you wish to *look* as happy as me?"
I like that running gag in all cartoons when they acknowledge the ridiculous thing that happens and just point it out, in this case the chief of police thing. In 4th-8th season Simpsons they point out how Homer has way too much free time to have a full time job lol
I like how Wiggum got dialed by the machine several times, Homer said his address in the message, and they didn't stop it until they went to the Simpsons home for a completely different reason.
I miss this kind of cartoon logic. Shows nowadays tend to be more down-to-earth and "plot perfect".
I love how homer was not taken aback by his auto-dialer growing legs and running away it’s almost like this is some sort of fictional cartoon or something.
LMAO. Hey who shot the autodailler???I mean Marge’s autodialler.
This was the subplot from “Lisa’s Date with Density.”
The subplot was better.
wasn't that the episode where Lisa felt her intelligence was deteriorating overtime because she couldn't figure out a puzzle on the back of a cereal box or something
Matthew Andrews it’s the one where Lisa dates Nelson
@@brandonbooze3599 Oh my God, Lisa was horrible once again. What episodes are Lisa NOT horrible.
@@matthewandrews4448 Actually, the episode you were trying to think of there was Lisa The Simpson. Which is a totally different episode, vs. Lisa's Date With Density(episode where Lisa dated Nelson, and having the Homer Simpson 'Happy Dude' autodialer subplot).
Gosh this made me laugh so much. When the machine started rolling away unplugged and he broke the legs off!😂😂😂
Melody Johnson Let's get ya home to Frinky
I love how the other guy is arrested for it and Homer gets a ticket for the same crime
I love this. The autodialer was always one of my all-time favorite jokes hahaha
Homer's side stories are always funnier than the main topic of the episode. 🤣🤣🤣
"I had a feeling we'd find you here!"
The pre-recorded message: **includes the Simpson's full address**
the way Homer broke the autodialer's legs was hilarious
I always loved the way Homer snaps the wheels off
3:14 brilliant. Makes me laugh every time.
Taking a sick day from telemarketing retail, but seeing this clip really cracked me up so much xD
Homer on Autodialer: Greetings, Friend?
Ned: Dang!
Homer on Autodailer: Greetings, Friend.
Ned: Shoot!
"Eh. Oh. That's an autodialer. This bird was using it to pull a telemarketing scam but instead he's gonna rot in the slammer for the next 20 years. Bread and water, icy showers, guards whapping you ass around the clock and the only way out is suicideee..."
"Telemarketing ehhhh."
